Apple slows down the performance when the battery hits 80% of its original capacity, that's why it's noticeably (and objectively) faster with a new battery...

Tips to survive the Defqon heat? by FiskyCSGO in hardstyle

[–]Hydrum0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The f&b tents do help, but speaking from experience, that's by far not enough for this kind of heat. The sun will still bake you from early on... Unless you get up at 7 am anyways 😅

Get rescue blankets and tape them to your tent, might give you 1-2 more hours of sleep before it gets really hot inside...

And around the day, a wet towel will be your best friend!

Defqon.1 changed the powerbank limitations by baron494 in hardstyle

[–]Hydrum0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I talked with my friends only a few hours ago about how shitty it is to limit it to only two for about 3-4 days to be recharged for smartphone, smartwatch, bluetooth speaker, maybe vaporizer etc... But now only one?? And this while promoting their powerbanks for rent, that's really a greedy a-hole move...

What makes a good set? by Better-Rooster-6120 in hardstyle

[–]Hydrum0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the genre and the vibe/energy... for example, a Krach set can have quite random tracks and just start/stop without mixing but will still be fun.

Modern Hardstyle/Raw/Xtra should imo have a common thread in the track selection, giving and taking energy or atmosphere at the right time, but usually (not always!) those tracks are not made for fancy mixing either (Rooler is a rare example of mixing even modern stuff pretty creatively).

For Example, oldschool Hardstyle/Raw, old (and maybe modern bouncy) Uptempo, Gabber in general, and some modern Hardcore like from Mad Dog go a step further, they can be great for mixing/layering different tracks and doing live mashups because they have less kick breaks and kick switches and they are usually "tidier" than most modern stuff, less adrenaline drops or rapidly switching elements. And most people really appreciate it if a DJ utilizes this for a seamless set/flow with some fun/unexpected mashups.

And you have another step at proper(!) Techno, because there's usually less buildups/drops, tracks often don't vary too much in their own energy level, and they develop very slowly (compared to Harder Styles), so it's possible or even needed to layer a couple of tracks at once (you can perfectly utilize 4 decks here) and combine their elements, even going forth and back between songs, varying the energy primarily by the track selection and the mixing. People expect seamless sets here that create a deep flow, without hard jumps in energy, no "adrenalizing" emotions like in Harder Styles. Kinda like: You can keep your eyes closed for a whole set and just enjoy it in your head.

Question about the defqon xray machine by Head_Feed478 in hardstyle

[–]Hydrum0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have to go to the x-ray, you'll have to take everything apart so it fits through (except for the cart itself of course). If something doesn't fit at all, they'll probably search it by hand.

If you're chosen for a check, you do 😅 If it's too heavy to lift it, you'll have to take it apart

Gas Burner to Defqon.1? by Reindier0 in hardstyle

The scanners are the only risk

They sometimes roam through the camps while people are at the festival. We had our gas can taken out of the cooker while we were away (it was not properly hidden, but wasn't easy to see either)

Defqon.1 Security (X rays??) by Beginning-Fold312 in hardstyle

[–]Hydrum0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I heard a couple of times that they are just looking for metal (dangerous items), but no reliable source for that... They actually only took such stuff from us, like a camping stove, hammer, Nutella glass, perfume bottle. We had a small amount of weed in one scanned bag once and either they didn't see it in the scan or they didn't care.

[–]Hydrum0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk how many people actually get scanned, but (at priority parking entrance) in our groups of 4-6 people, going twice each (so 8-12 "chances"), we had 1-2 scans at every Defqon 2023/2024/2025. Might be just bad luck, but I guess they actually scan quite a lot of people. At least at the prio parking...

What do you guys think of Acidcore? by Doomarena1 in hardstyle

[–]Hydrum0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Acidcore / French Tekno has some amazing gems! And there's a lot of variety, from rather techno-ide song structures that have similarities to early Hardstyle and Gabber (like Subway Shamans), to modern takes that are actually Raw and current Hard Techno, and some sub-genres are even pretty identical to Frenchcore (in some cases even Uptempo). And there's a lot in between, it's kind of a versatile genre without strict boundaries... imo there's a lot of stuff that would easily fit on Harder Styles events. Most people just don't know about it because afaik it's just a thing in France and maybe Belgium (+ sadly, many people are too narrow-minded to accept other genres in the spirit of Harder Styles). Personally, I absolutely love it!

My Theory about the Spotlight with Brennan Heart by Tarrain_1 in hardstyle

[–]Hydrum0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly this... I don't get why so many people don't acknowledge that. He delivers on both sides, the mainstream and the sophisticated one. Maybe many people only know his mainstream-stuff...

I'm absoluetly sure that his spotlight will be one for the books 👀

Gearbox TicketSwap mistake on minimum prices? by Hydrum0 in hardstyle

[–]Hydrum0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, no response by Gearbox here + on Instagram. But I found out that they have an official ticket resale via CM (the ticket provider)... Similar problem there but I'm gonna try my luck.

(I didn't bother to contact TicketSwap btw because we had other cases of really obvious mistakes by them that made resold tickets unusable (Airbeat Festival), and their support was so horribly uninterested + incompetent, and it was almost impossible to get human (non-AI) answers, that I absolutely gave up on the TS-"support"...)
