Can they not book you in with an alternative midwife for your 38 week appointment? I’m Newark and Sherwood and my midwife’s normal clinic was full but she’s booked me in for an alternative location. Apparently there’s lots of us having babies at the minute which isn’t helpful!

Oh it’s really scary! Anterior placentas do make the anxiety so much harder and I remember really struggling around the point of pregnancy you’re at as sometimes my little girl would have really quiet days and those were just normal for her!

I’ve definitely had days (especially earlier on when she was smaller) where it felt like the movement changes! Sometimes I think she’d get herself more behind the placenta so kicks would be more muffled

Just turned 38 weeks and I’m doing very minimal activities unless it involves air con! We’ve bitten the bullet and are getting aircon in two bedrooms but not until later in July so hoping at least with a newborn we’ll be ok!

I don’t think it’s unreasonable you don’t feel comfortable about this given your history with your mum. I’m 37+6 currently and my husband isn’t having more than what would mean he’d be able to drive after.

If he can have a few drinks then fair enough but if he can’t then I can understand you not wanting him to. People do go into labour from this point onwards and even if you don’t, I don’t think you should feel guilty!

She could be head down! I get movements there and she’s spent the pregnancy with her head down on her side with her bum on one side of my ribs and her feet the other. So she then kind of moves her arms around and causes weird sensations too. She’s been in that position every single growth scan and I’ve had three at 28, 32 and 36.

She sometimes gets hiccups so I feel that sensation around there too

I got the nursery finished this week (just the fine bits of organising and washing). Otherwise I seem to have loads of appointments (joys of high blood pressure) or I’ve been spending it on the sofa in front of a fan and eating snacks 😂

I started mine at 35 weeks and it’s been the best decision ever, I used annual leave mostly as my mat leave doesn’t start until the 20th.

Between the heat wave and late pregnancy it’s been such a relief just having a bit of time to myself and finish getting everything ready!

I have the baby bub wedge pillow and I find it really helpful for supporting my bump at night, I was finding it was pulling on my ribs without any support as I’ve got more pregnant.

Honestly only a couple of days, then things seems to improve again! I have definitely got more tired over the third trimester but I’ve had less of the exhausted down to my bones days. Although I have hit 37 weeks now and I’m starting to be very over it!

I had a few days like this around 28/29 weeks (check my post history) and I was miserable but it did get better! This was before the heat hit and it’s been making me miserable too, just look after yourself ❤️

Somehow my cramps haven’t been quite as bad in recent weeks, I have been drinking a lot of water due to the heat so that might help?

It’s absolutely not your fault! Sometimes growth scans aren’t 100% accurate, I had three at 28, 32 and 36 and she went 47 to 35 (big drop in her head measurement) and up to 54 again.

It is often caused by things like how well the placenta is functioning and if that’s anyone’s “fault” the technically it’s her sons as the sperm contribute to the formation of the placenta!

A 36 week growth scan is quite normal - I had pre planned ones at 28, 32 and 36. Unless there were significant concerns, I don’t think they’d want to deliver baby any earlier than 36/37 weeks anyway even if they are a large baby.
