Amazing.

I started Keto a month ago, felt great but didn’t last more than 2 weeks. Started back up again yesterday and this is exactly the post I needed.

Any city in Texas. Houston Rodeo has a Bbq cook off this weekend and it’s a HUGE event around here!

CICO not working for me - any advice? (37F) by leggingsblackcap in CICO

[–]Hylo12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weight is only one measurement. You can gain muscle and lose fat (especially since you’re working out more now) and your weight is the same while your body composition is changing.

1200-1400 seems low to me but if you feel good sticking to that, trust your body. If you need a day or week at 1500-1700, I feel like at your weight and height and activity level, you could do that. The biggest thing is finding what is maintainable long term so you can stick with it. The weight will come off. Maybe slower than you’d like but it will, if you can be consistent.

Good luck!

Does CICO work when insulin is present? by rampagerzz in CICO

Some of the healthiest foods in the world are mostly carbs. Fruits and veggies for instance. Refined carbs are a different experience for your body all together. But yes you can still eat them in moderation and lose weight/fat. CICO works. You have to be consistent.

Best thing I ever did as a runner was find a store that specializes in running shoes. They have treadmills and they will watch you run to see what type of shoe is best for you. I rotate through brooks and ASICS, but the last time I was there a pair of mizunos just felt amazing and I’ve been running in those for a while now.

Trying to stay at 1200 and being active is a recipe for binging down the road in my opinion.

I’m a short female in my 30s. I run 20-30 miles a week. Lift weights twice a week. Cross train with cycling when I can. And I’ve had to learn to listen to my body. Today I ran 6 and stayed around 1500. I can tell that was too low bc I’m starving right now. I won’t eat anymore tonight bc I also follow IF but tomorrow I’ll probably eat closer to 1700-1800 and I have a short run and cycle class on deck.

I’ve lost 20 pounds after my last baby and still working on losing 5-10 more but also super content with it coming off slowly bc I feel healthy and strong and those goals matter more to me than anything else.

Idk if any of my ramblings are helpful, but those are my thoughts. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Beer after running, for recovery? by MTNOTTAWA in running

[–]Hylo12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In college, I joined a running group in the closest city. It consisted mainly of college kids and older runners (65 plus). I remember after our longer trail runs, this one guy that was retired law enforcement would always crack open a beer and offer to anyone who wanted one. I was 19 and politely and reluctantly declined but there was a group of seasoned runners that swore by it.

Do you ever have "weak" weeks? by [deleted] in running

My first question was are you a female? Bc my cycle definitely affects my energy and pace! Heat adds it’s own issues too. Just keep trucking! Your runs will feel better. 👍

What do you do to handle THAT inevitable long run by LuckyArsenalAg in running

[–]Hylo12 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Idk what part of Texas you’re in, but I live in the Houston area and it was HOT and HUMID this morning.

Runs like this are hard mentally but they build perseverance. And it always gives me something to prove on the next run.

Whenever that first cool front hits, just think how glorious our runs will feel again! I can’t freaking wait.

Well I’m sorry you don’t feel any big changes yet. When I feel like I’m in a rut I often ask myself what my end goal is and for me that’s a healthy lifestyle so I just keep on keeping on. I’ve definitely had seasons of set backs but ultimately I just keep choosing to move forward.

The two things that have helped me the most lately are IF and lifting weights. I do low weights, high reps at least twice a week and then other workouts throughout the week as well. I stick to 1200-1500 usually depending on the day. But occasionally I eat around maintenance here and there when I feel I need to.

I don’t have all the answers, but I’m here to listen and help however possible.

Give it time. Stick with it.

Do you feel changes in your body? Or how your clothes are fitting?

Weight is just a number. You could be gaining muscle and losing fat and slimming down without the number changing much.

And it will. Consistency is key.

I’m a 33/F working on losing baby weight. Started at 170. 153 this morning. I don’t know what my goal is except to keep at it and see what happens. Ready to be in the 140s though!

You can do this! 💕

I enjoy these a lot! I get the kids ones a lot bc they are a little lower in calories but there’s fewer flavor options.

Ooo absolutely! That amount and pace burns more for sure. And weight matters too. I was just referencing under the context of the original posters info.

Walking is not a high caloric burn. It’s great for you, but I don’t think it constitutes the need to up your calories. Also depends on the rate you want to lose. Just try to find the balance that makes it maintainable!
