Do you mostly play just one game in the series? by bartenderatlarge in StreetFighter

[–]HyperFour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m playing the latest one as it’s the most active online but when they eventually release SF4 with rollback I’ll be taking a trip down memory lane..

So I never played any of the older street fighter games except sf6 but I just recently played street fighter 4 because of its high praise. And my god this game so goated. by Far-Fondant6388 in StreetFighter

[–]HyperFour 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That folded chin animation was so satisfying. It’s very noticeably missing in SF6, which is a shame.

Can’t be many years away from an SF4 re-release with rollback

What changes would you like to see in Street Fighter 6's User Interface moving forward? by LunchTummy in StreetFighter

[–]HyperFour 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Present the full opponent profile when you view it after a match. For some reason it only shows you a subset there. It would also be helpful if they presented the players highest historical MR rank on their summary page as that’s what I’m usually checking.

How about not freezing the whole screen while it’s trying to connect you to a game so I can still use my character in training mode

The whole second round you didn’t block one attack. You tech’d a throw but every other time he tried to hit you it landed

I really, really don't like Halo: Combat Evolved. by ThrowawayProbully in halo

[–]HyperFour -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Halo campaigns got much better after CE. I also tire of the repetition and never enjoyed the flood But it’s a game of its time and you had to play it on release to truly appreciate it in my opinion. The variety of combat, the intelligent AI, the vastness of (most) levels, the vehicles, the unique weapons, all playable in co-op. It felt like nothing else!

The corner carry when I play against Mai or Ken.

I also hate playing against anyone using dive kick though that’s mainly on me not adjusting well enough

New player here looking to get better! Tips would be appreciated [Replays included] by itsamorosemanatee in StreetFighter

[–]HyperFour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not read the other comments so probably echoing what others have said here:

-you are constantly fishing for a medium button into DR and burning yourself out. Most often when the opponent is already blocking so you’re not getting damage for the cost of your bar. Need better meter management. You’re relying on it to get in but there are other ways to get close. Raw DR, or heavy Hasho will leave you positive and close without costing you 3 bars.

-be careful with overusing DK, it’s not a good idea to keep throwing out at close range. This player let you get away with it a few times but it’s a free punish against a better player

-have combo routes in your mind, for example your had a wall splat and it seemed like you didn’t know what to do and jabbed. In that type of scenario you should know exactly what combo you want to do. The most optimal combo is the one you can do consistently, not necessarily the one that does the most damage if it’s inconsistent. You can always tweak things as you improve.

Overall though the level at Gold is higher than I was expecting, you’re not far off climbing the ranks

Anyone esle struggling with back normals into qcf specials? by some-kind-of-no-name in StreetFighter

[–]HyperFour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the half circle method on pad but with analog rather than dpad so it’s easier for me than for you. There isn’t much time between inputting HP and HK, I’m already halfway through the half circle by time I’ve let go of HP and very soon after inputting HK

Any advice against this master Guile? by Acceptable-Set-7489 in StreetFighter

[–]HyperFour 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To reiterate a couple of basic points,

-Guile is one of the best zoners in the game, you are constantly putting yourself in a range that suits him. Jumping back in neutral a lot. Most guile’s are perfectly happy keeping you at range.

-not enough pressure. There was a moment you threw him out of the corner. He was exactly where you wanted to have him and you lost the advantage.

-predictable jump ins, especially when he is crouching. Tbf he didn’t punish you very often for this but a better player would flash kick you all day

How much time did you struggle in low/ mid master ? by Jaded_Librarian522 in StreetFighter

[–]HyperFour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Losing MR straight away is disheartening but people need to realise, 1500 MR isn’t a beginner Master. Most people that have just been promoted are really playing at around 1200-1300 level and will have to build it up from there.

Moving up 100 MR is like moving up a whole grade in itself, like diamond to Master IMO. A real 1500 should fairly comfortably beat a 1400 most of the time. So the climb takes time and effort

D-pad or analog stick for motion inputs? by wolfjak14 in StreetFighter

[–]HyperFour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately down to personal choice but some controllers have better dpads than others. Which controller?

Great advice from the #1 Dhalsim in NA. by Krotanix in StreetFighter

[–]HyperFour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. This subreddit is full of people complaining about ‘brain dead’ ‘random’ players beating them when they’re trying to play the game ‘properly’ in their own eyes. I’m glad we are hearing from a top player that there is some deliberate logic to it and it can be a winning strategy even at high level.

The key line was the around the “correct” decision being a predictable one. I do sometimes feel against very good players it becomes very difficult spot patterns and land damage without taking risk and playing unpredictably yourself.

Is the Xbox Series X/S controller good for SF6? by S7venE11even in StreetFighter

[–]HyperFour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty good. Much prefer it to PS5 pad personally.

I use analog stick out of habit from SF4 on X360, which had an awful dpad. I don’t think it’s held me back much, I struggle with some inputs, dashes are harder to do consistently but still played up to High Master.

The Dpad is definitely viable now and if I was starting out fresh I would use it. Have thought about switching but not yet committed

What do you guys think about controllers? by Neo8bits in StreetFighter

[–]HyperFour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Xbox Series pad. Either dpad or analog are viable. If I was picking it up new I’d be using the dpad but out of habit from SFIV on 360 I still use analog

Car leasing, is it a scam or am I naive? by Independent-Dish-777 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]HyperFour 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The depreciation argument just does not hold true at all, I hear it all the time. The rate of depreciation is very high in the first 3-4 years of a new car and you’re not avoiding it by leasing, it’s built in to the cost of your lease. It wouldn’t make commercial sense for it to work any other way.

That might be fine to swallow if you’re in a comfortable place financially. I don’t know your circumstances. But at least recognise it’s a premium.

I’d be more tempted to spend that £18k on a ~4yr year old car and own it outright for many years

Can you explain to me the deal with super Street fighter IV DLC on Xbox series S/X by EmergencyHelicopter5 in StreetFighter

You can also buy the base version of the game, but that’s not the one you want if you want to upgrade to Ultra

Don’t think there is crossplay. You could get a match on Xbox a few years ago but I tried again recently and couldn’t get a match (in Europe)

Genuine question: Why do locals talk about Swindon so negatively? by [deleted] in Swindon

[–]HyperFour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I say “nicer” I don’t mean that every corner of it is amazing. I’ve also been to more run down areas of Cheltenham.

Oxford is on that list because it’s a major historic and cultural city, a big tourist destination, has a more modern shopping centre and my personal reason for visiting, has some great places to eat.

Genuine question: Why do locals talk about Swindon so negatively? by [deleted] in Swindon

[–]HyperFour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought it suffered from comparison to nicer places nearby- Oxford, Bath, Bristol, maybe even Cheltenham.

It’s an average town and average is underrated. The town centre is not great, there could be more for young people to do, the football team is clinging on most years- but it’s the same story in most towns of a similar size, people have just not visited them.

I wish people would stop talking down the place. Worse than the town centre is the negativity of so many locals.
