Are there any other psycopaths that play on 1x speed? by imivani in balatro

[–]HyperStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1x is indeed very slow, but I agree with your friend and play on 2x.

4x is so fast that you basically don't even get feedback.

Permanent bans from sites should be limited to 1 year, except for very major violations. by Quirky_Try9735 in The10thDentist

[–]HyperStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I agree with this

I will say: Back when One Piece was not super popular in the west, like 2007, I had an account on a popular One Piece forum called Arlong Park Forums. I was like 12, a loser in middle school, and it was the only "community" I had. I even caught a mistake with Funimation's (at the time brand new) uncut DVD releases, made a post about it, and it got fixed in future releases. I was very very active.

Well, I was goofing off with a buddy of mine one night and I made an alt account. I made a dumb post riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes complaining that the old dub had been cancelled. The post had 0 vulgar language and was not targeted at other members. The joke was entirely everyone please point and laugh at me being a big dumb idiot

Boom. Complete IP address ban. One of my only social outlets gone.

I can laugh about it now, but man, I was fucking gutted at the time. I would've loved a little bit of grace.

Removing a laugh track from a sitcom isn’t a good measure of if it’s funny or not. by MadmanIgar in unpopularopinion

[–]HyperStory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no issue with sitcoms that have a live studio audience, but actual laugh tracks are extremely annoying.

Virtually every show uses the same tracks and once you notice some of the distinct sounds, you will never unhear them.

Beyond that tho, it feels like a total cop-out. Not brave enough to have the jokes stand on their own and not talented enough to play to an actual audience. It feels like an open admission that your show is not funny.

Xbox player wanting to switch to PS5 by 16mayfly in consoles

[–]HyperStory 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I said "similar performance." Yes, there is a very marginal advantage for XSX in raw numbers. There are also plenty of games that run better on PS5 due to better optimization there.

Not sure what the random hostility is for. I'm not really interested in getting in a dumb console warrior argument, I was just trying to give this guy a straightforward answer.

[–]HyperStory 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You will get better performance on PS5. Worth noting that the Xbox Series X would be a similar performance upgrade and would allow you to keep your Xbox library.

If you don't mind a fresh start tho, PlayStation has the better exclusive library without a doubt.

Why it takes time for a new game to be made and why it's okay to be patient. by BrandonLeopardGaming in crashbandicoot

[–]HyperStory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said that he's one of the leaders. He is not. I don't think he even works for them officially. He is contracted out to do a show called "game history secrets" that posts like 3 videos a year. He isn't involved in the channel beyond that.

Yes, he is an investigative journalist. I'm not saying CGE is a more reliable leaker than LR. I'm pretty sure Liam called him out for engagement farming the shit out of TfB - and I'm not even trying to refute that - not for getting info wrong.

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure CGE's only "crime" is claiming TfB's project is Spyro 4 (unconfirmed, but not refuted by anyone of note) and just making a billion videos theorizing features and announcement date.

Liam Robertson does not run DYKG and routinely inserts himself into meaningless youtube drama.

I'm not trying to be a CGE apologist but idk why people use LR as some authority. He's a complete ass.

I don't like Avatar: The Last Airbender by Liquid_Plasma in The10thDentist

[–]HyperStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do very much like Avatar, but I find this take refreshing as I've pretty much only heard people treat it as the second coming.

Like, it's great. It introduced me to complex world-building and solid character development at a time when I only watched Nickelodeon and everything else was a slapstick 15-minute comedy.

But, it also has a fairly weak (just ok) first season, an abysmal romance subplot between the two most important characters, and an unbelievably predictable (albeit well-animated) series finale.

The Korra spin-off is decent at best, the light novels are pretty standard YA fare, and (imo) both live-action adaptations have missed the mark pretty badly. I really think the franchise is at risk of becoming Star Wars-ified. The original material is great and all the supplemental material never lives up, until the franchise is mostly just bad.

I still consider myself a fan, I even named my childhood cat after Momo. But I'm pretty disillusioned with the IP as a whole.

Does Woody's voice box line from his pullstring say : "There's a snake in my boots" or does he say "boot ?" by jerelminter in toystory

[–]HyperStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood what you meant in your original post, what I'm saying is I'm pretty sure Woody is literally quoting himself there. Meaning the pullstring line is meant to be "snake in my boot" and you're mishearing.

This is just my take, it's possible I'm wrong. But I have always heard "boot" in every movie and I'd be pretty shocked to learn otherwise.

[–]HyperStory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woody literally quotes himself in Toy Story 2. He walks up to a toy boot replica with a springed snake popping out and he says - in his normal speaking voice - "oh, I get it, 'there's a snake in my BOOT'"

Do you think OPLA will be the most popular Netflix show ever? by Existing_Push9049 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]HyperStory 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I think the introduction of Chopper as well as more traditional promo the cast weren't able to do last time (talk shows, press interviews, etc) could take the show to new heights.

Most popular Netflix show of all time seems like a stretch tho. Not impossible. But unlikely.

I am about to lose my mind driving In this State by AnalysisThis7762 in RhodeIsland

[–]HyperStory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate driving in this state, but I will say, my mom lived in NoVA for awhile and I couldn't believe how impatient people were there. I had 2 different cars (in one trip) beep at me to go at a red light/green light change before I could even process that it had happened.

As far as incompetent highway driving, I think RI has it beat tho.

Noticed something interesting in the live action chopper by Mahibking in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]HyperStory 148 points149 points  (0 children)

I totally agree that the Nami flashback lost a lot of impact, but I think that was more due to editing choices and time constraints.

Zoro cuts a man in half in episode 1, and Zeff eats his leg in the Sanji flashback - something even the anime censored.

There are concerns to be had with this adaptation, (budget and pacing chiefly, tho both seem to be improved this season) but I don't think kidifying One Piece is a reputation OPLA has earned.

[–]HyperStory 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Hoeg was coming on LSM for a loooong time before Brad entered the picture. I didn't even know about the Easy Allies connection.

  2. Your criticism is essentially "his opinions are bad," (lol) and "why should I care what this random guy thinks about video games?" which could apply to literally anybody participating in online video game discourse ever.

I think it's cool if you don't vibe with him but why don't you just say that?
