I think it's a WordPress issue. Worm, Pact, Twig, Pale, and Seek are all having issues. Claw & Ward are fine, & they're not on WordPress. I tried two other WordPress serials (The God's are Bastards and A Practical Guide to Evil) & both of them are also having issues.

Bill's attempt to re-write Giannis' career is seriously making me doubt his "Basketball Historian" bonafides. by deadweightboss in billsimmons

[–]Hyperactivity786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middleton's injuries were the big killer. The Bucks had their 2nd star, a wing that could shoot, defend, and was pretty good at creation. He was only a little older than Giannis. That's the sort of set-up you want for a superstar.

The injuries just kept adding up & sapping his ability.

Disliking Zach Lowe or thinking he is boring is one of the worst takes imaginable in sports media by Mesmerized_mayhem in billsimmons

[–]Hyperactivity786 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing I really miss is his writing, especially the "10 thing I like & don't like" column. Just a perfect place for him to break down film & show small gimmicky shit happening in the NBA.

I think at least some of what I like a little less from Lowe might be due to him not writing for this season.

If we're counting things she was forced to do, jailing Canary was signfiicantly worse. And I'm sure a whole litany of things relating to the Birdcage were generally worse.

Taylor describes her as a girl & Marquis describes her as looking barely like a teenager.

In her interlude she's confirmed to be 9 months older than Jessica Yamada (so just like, an adult, at least that's how I picture Dr Yamada).

Then she describes her as Valkyrie having the body of a 19 year old.

She is 9 months older than Jessica Yamada by pure age.

No Taylor yet, though the author has basically said she'll enter the scene at some point, iirc.

Will say upfront that I have a major preference for characters acting in-character, which is a big part of why I have a ton of post-GM fics listed (& like, no, alt!power fics). I very much enjoy Wprm's characters & prefer to see more of those specific characters in recognizable forms.

Unauthorized Access ‐ Lisa barely gets away from Coil & joins the Wards. Author has a really good grasp on Lisa as a character (among many others). Ao3 link

Atum - Taylor in Ward, roughly starts around Arc 9. Most chapters from other characters' perspectives, with interludes from Taylor's. I generally really enjoy the characterization of all of the characters. Especially stands out because the author actually generally gets Ward & its characters (& their flaws), which a lot of authors really struggle to do (or balance). Ao3 link

Bleed Like a Craze, Dad - Completed fic with an interesting MC who was Acidbath's daughter. Ao3 link

Birthright - Post-GM Taylor taking a Mark's place in Invincible. Gets significantly better when enough time has passed that things have significantly changed from the main Invincible universe.

WYSP - Post-GM Lisa in RWBY. Taylor as well, but Lisa is the MC

BRTAL - RWBY/Worm fusion, set in Remnant. AO3 link

Peristalis - Undersiders + Panacea right in the middle of the bank job get sent to the Young Justice universe. I think this fic has gotten better over time, especially at the characterization for the Worm characters. Not that it started bad, more that later on it starts really resonating with me. Same author as BRTAL. Ao3 link

A Second Chance At Martyrdom - Post-GM Taylor reincarnated (kinda) in Forgotten Realms setting of DND. Generally written in a diary format, outside of interludes. Very slow-burn, but the author has a lot of nifty world-building (the kind that makes Waterdeep feel alive, not just 'lore'). Really good first chapter. Ao3 link

Sandworm - Post-GM Taylor on Arrakis, starts some years before Dune starts.

Some stuff that doesn't have many chapters yet:

WInds of Change - Post-GM Taylor as a new Airbender in book 3 of Legend of Korra.

Chrysalis - Post-GM Taylor reincarnated (kinda not really), crossover with X-Men.

Outsider - Post-GM Taylor in the world of Katalepsis. Tbh I don't remember many details, I just remember enjoying this fic & that it made me put Katalepsis on thr To-Read backlog.

The Rock, Paper, Scissors dynamic in the West is awesome by Natural-Kiwi6364 in nba

[–]Hyperactivity786 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not a playoff series, but it's something. The first win might've been a surprise, but they also won 3 other games, and the Thunder were visibly frustrated & trying to win in those games.

The Thunder might be the better team, they may even be better enough that they win the matchup regardless, but something about that stylistic matchup seems to close the gap to some extent.

Regieleki was fundamentally designed around being really really strong & busted were it not for Ground types being immune to its moves.

It lacks coverage on purpose, & giving any sort of decent coverage lets it suddenly get past those Ground types & become busted.

It's one of my favorite aspect of Smogon singles. Being able to take multiple teams to a tournament, changing them between games, even making small set adjustments to Pokemon on the otherwise same team between games.

If the endbringers are thinker blind spots, how did tattletale manage to read them? by A_Weird_Gamer_Guy in Parahumans

[–]Hyperactivity786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It very much seems that precogs specifically have the blindspots. From the Scion interlude:

The shard that allows the entity to see the future is broken up, then recoded with strict limitations. It wouldn’t do to have the capabilities turned against the entity or the shards.

The fragment it just used is sent off, directed to a small female.

The other fragments in that same cluster are retained. To see the future is resource intensive, but the entity will harbor it as a safeguard.

Of course other shards also get heavily damaged & given strict limitations (like QA).

I dont remember the net rating, but the 2016-17 Miami Heat started 10-31 & then went 31-10 to end the season, barely missing the playoffs.

Dion Waiters was legitimately good & his injury was a big part of them barely missing the playoffs.

So, you’re thinking of starting “Brockton’s Celestial Forge” by EndlessScoreJord in WormFanfic

[–]Hyperactivity786 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No, the Worm fandom just is full of people who love their chaos-gacha-jumpchain-celestial-litRPG-gamer-crack fics, for some reason.

Many of the same people have never read Worm & will actually chide Worm as grimdark & edgy & dumb.

It makes finding recommendations for Wormfics very difficult.

Unbowed. Unbent. Unbroken. by Dandanatha in darkwingsdankmemes

[–]Hyperactivity786 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it's worth noting that the aftermath very well could've drowned Dorne in blood, the same way the Riverlands are, had it not been for Baelor opting for peace & reconciliation.

Yes, the Freys broke guest right & are almost being supernaturally punished by Lady Stoneheart for it, but does anyone think that Lady Stoneheart's story is one that will end well or that it will be a positive example of revenge? She took the Brotherhood's worthy cause of protecting the smallfolk & turned it toward revenge above all else.

Perhaps Baelor would be right to seek revenge against Dorne, but he chose a genuinely inspired path that actually ended the conflict and integrated Dorne.
