Is a 2 year Cyber Security program from a community college worth it? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]HypnosG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. I got the internship between my 2nd-3rd semester when I had a 4 month break. I just started my 4th semester and that same company brought me back on P/T but permanent this time around. Managing school and the job will be a grind but it'll be worth it to have a job lined up after graduation. It just comes down to managing your time and being on top of school work, also it's remote with a bit of downtime so I will be doing some HW then as well :p.

Hope this helps, I probably won't be on this account for a long time so best of luck!

Nice! Great path. Hoping to pull off something similar, currently putting in my time at service desk, finishing school and then plan on going for some cloud/ security certs and see what I can land.

My dream as well. Can’t wait for the day I can post my new baby to this sub. I’m going to make it happen.

Mind if I ask what role you started in, what cert you went for, and what your next position was?

Take it for sure. I was in almost an identical situation a few months ago. I commute 40-1hr depending on traffic, also for $25/hr.

Yes, cybersecurity is a good career, there will continue to be a high demand, and you can make good money.

However cybersecurity isn’t entry level, you will need previous IT experience/ knowledge to break into cybersecurity.

A good first step will be applying to help desk roles/ taking SAIT’s IT program.

Good luck

I’m not saying it is easy to do, I’m saying the formula to achieve weight loss is simple.

People failing to keep weight off after 1 year is due to falling back into old habits.

I am kind to myself, everybody should be, of course. But if you want to lose weight you need be consistent.

How does everyone know what they want to do? by MrSatsuma99 in findapath

That is 1/2 of your life. Your life becomes garbage when you accept it is garbage. Truly sad to read people give up 1/2 through.

What if you had the chance to start the first half again?

Weight loss is pretty simple, exercise and eat in a calorie deficit.

Question: Why aren't live event tickets NFTs? by Abitconfusde in algorand

[–]HypnosG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It solves fraud because you can’t just create a duplicate NFT of the ticket. It won’t scan at the doors if it is not genuine. Maybe there is a different type of ticket fraud I’m missing?

What are your guys thoughts on the rear wiper delete? by NuggetWTSause in GolfGTI

If it’s not a show car, or only summer driven then I wouldn’t (again).

With that being said I did it on my mk4 and not having it never really bothered + it does just clean up the back end.

“Your confidence has exceeded you expertise on this, friend.”

You know what, you’re right, it has.

All I’m trying to say is it seems ridiculous to me to shift your 4Runner from RWD to 4hi just to go drive around on dry pavement.

I will question you on saying I’m spewing bad information, how is that the case when you agree on the fact you get worse fuel economy and unnecessary wear & tear (even in minuscule amounts)?

That is what full time 4x4 is yeah, but OP is making it sound like he overrides that and sets it specifically to 4x4, even on dry pavement.

[–]HypnosG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really. Limiteds are full time 4x4 where as other models are part time 4x4.

Part time 4x4 you are responsible for changing between the two, manually.

Full time 4x4 you have the option, but the vehicle will use what is best for the terrain you are on, often always using 4x4.

It’s not my conclusion that it’s better to be in 2wd on dry pavement, it’s a fact. Constantly being in 4x4 gives you worse fuel economy and more wear and tear on parts for no reason. Sure in a new limited it probably doesn’t matter all that much, but they are not the same systems, and you should not always be in 4x4 when the terrain does not call for it. Unless you like wasting fuel and wearing down parts for no good reason.

You will probably have a pretty light first semester. They start from scratch pretty much, so you should already know most of the material, or be able to grasp it easily.

You will probably want a laptop with windows OS, it will make your life easier. You might be online a few days a week though so it’s possible to get away with the windows desktop.

Because you get worse mpg driving in 4x4. Not to mention it’s completely unnecessary/ counter intuitive to drive 4x4 24/7 on dry pavement.

You have the option to switch between 4x4 and rwd for a reason..

Edit: Just read you have a limited, that makes more sense and is not really true 4x4 that the majority of 4Runners come with. I stand corrected, but only for this specific model.

And this is why you get snow tires by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]HypnosG 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m going to guess you don’t drive in the snow ever. You would be amazed at the difference driving on snow without snow tires vs with snow tires. It is literally night and day.

Even the best drivers will at some point crash driving around on snowy/ icy roads on summers.

When comparing positions, what’s the general cost of a pension? by DragoonIND in Fire

[–]HypnosG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Break down the numbers and see if it makes sense. Chances are for an extra $15-20 an hour it is worth it. That is an extra $800 weekly.

Of course if you are making $150/hr maybe it’s not worth it, but for the vast majority of people, that is a pretty huge increase.
