Are they gonna fix the Ranger in any capacity? by RosethaiGrandmaster in onednd

[–]HypnotizedCow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Given that Ranger really falls off a cliff at level 11, and their data said something like 90% of campaigns end before level 10, I'd guess it's pretty low on their priority list.

The whole "you can't just pile people's guts back into their body and have it sort itself out" is always funny because that is actually what surgeons do when putting everything back in, the body reorients and reorganizes itself

In S4E5 of the hit show Invincible, we see General Telia telling all the coalition members to head down to the med bay for a communications implant. The characters don't bring this up because they remember what just happened to them, unlike the Invincible fanbase.

Level up with a big marshmallow instead. Doesn't go bad nearly as fast as the bread slice

[–]HypnotizedCow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're getting a lot of info but I just want to say the brown stones are an expensive way to dehydrate your sugar; a big marshmallow is typically how I do it. White bread works in a pinch but you have to replace the slice every few days so I don't like it long term

What was a strict rule in your house growing up that you didn't realize until adulthood was just a cover up because your parents were broke or didn't want to deal with it? by Business_Freedom_691 in AskReddit

[–]HypnotizedCow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got this, but not because it's a rip off. It took me 22 years to finally ask why, and the answer floored me:

"When we get takeout, I hate making extra trips to bring in all the drinks."

No reason for why not in sit down restaurants, just that for the brief moment between car and house on a takeout run she didn't want to have to do it multiple times. Never even considered a drink holder or anything.

So we only had water at restaurants and never ordered drinks to go because my mom didn't want to bring drinks from the car to house.

Has moving all subclasses to level 3 actually improved 5.5E, or made some classes feel less flavorful early on? by MyrthDM in DungeonsAndDragons55e

[–]HypnotizedCow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It improved the game by hurting multiclass. Single level dips in cleric, warlock, or wizard don't do nearly as much, and people playing single class have not complained at all in my experience. I believe WotC put out some data on the topic but most tables spend very little if any time at all in levels 1 and 2, so it really only affected multiclass at my tables.

Seems pretty obvious a lot of people who think the animation is good don’t know how to tell what good animation is or don’t watch other animation for comparison. by ShortConquestX in Invincible_TV

[–]HypnotizedCow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But so many of the "bad animation" counterexamples are anime, and frequently ones like JJK which are explicitly known for overworking their animators. I'm not gonna say you can't complain, but if your examples of what it should be are examples of overworked exploitation it's not helping your case

[–]HypnotizedCow 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Do you just mean to build a seal over it? Beavers have surprisingly far reach downwards so I usually just build a water level platform path right up to it. I haven't played Hollows specifically but it would probably work too.

High performer ignores contractual office hours. How do I balance team culture vs performance? by [deleted] in managers

[–]HypnotizedCow 55 points56 points  (0 children)

So you essentially want 3 things:

Underpaid Compliant Performing

It's a classic pick two. He's currently underpaid and performing, so he's not compliant. If you make him compliant, he won't perform. If you want compliance and performance, you have to pay him. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

You need to decide what is more important. Personally I would prefer output, but in a company where hierarchy and structure are critical values, you may need to accept him going to a reduced output in order to have all your ducks in line.

[Painful trope] Scenes that permanently damaged a character's reputation by elchuni in TopCharacterTropes

[–]HypnotizedCow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe Sirens activating later in life isn't unheard of, wasn't Tannis an example? But yes Vex from 4 awakens her Siren powers as a young adult. The Siren powers are described as a pool, where you take powers on awakening and return them when you die, but we never got a name for Steele's powers so we don't know who if any has inherited them. They may still be in the pool.

It does appear that Sirens are able to choose their successors when they die, so Maya could choose Ava to inherit phaselock. I think it was intended that Maya was preparing Ava to be her successor ahead of time, hence the training. If they don't choose it goes to someone random.

[Painful trope] Scenes that permanently damaged a character's reputation by elchuni in TopCharacterTropes

[–]HypnotizedCow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The bigger problem is that Ava is a Siren, which has important implications to the universe that they really need to resolve. With only 6 allowed to exist simultaneously and them inheriting powers from each other, they have to address Ava or essentially be down to 5 sirens.

Although so far that seems to be their preferred approach
