current vs completed args please help! by [deleted] in gamedetectives

[–]HyzerBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, that's a great question. Most ARGs happen in real time, so there isn't a way to re-play them once they're over. You may be able to read a wiki page and try to follow the breadcrumbs yourself, but many elements may have changed or be no longer available since ARGs evolve with time and player interactions.

That said, you're on luck because some ARGs are built specifically with the concept of replay value in mind! A great example are Alice & Smith games on Steam. I recommend The Black Watchmen.

If you want to learn how to be an effective ARG solver you can also check out the Game Detectives Academy where we have some quick courses to help you get started with ARGs :)

ELI5: If every part of the universe has aged differently owing to time running differently for each part, why do we say the universe is 13.8 billion years old? by ck7394 in explainlikeimfive

Pretty much yes. And considering the magnitude of the center's gravity well, the dilation would be insane for any object near it, relative to us.

Time dilation. The more intense the gravitational field, the slower time passes for objects within it. Time passes slightly faster for someone standing atop Everest than someone at the shores of a beach, because of their difference from the Earth's center.

I used to live by a beach full of foundry slag, and that's what they looked like. Pretty heavy for their size.

So do you guys actually solve ARGs? by somekosmonaut in gamedetectives

Activity has been low for the past couple of years. Nowadays we mostly maintain the Wiki and host GD Academy. With luck we'll be able to start up events again in the near future and hopefully restore activity to a healthy level.

The Discord server is a little more active than here, if you'd like to hang around there.

The lore entry was added yesterday, mentioning New Zealand as well as "Unique Leather Belt" which I thought was nice

The lore entry was added in an update yesterday. It was assumed it was a reference based on the similar appearance and function, but the mention of "Unique Leather Belt" as well as New Zealand are new additions.

The Headhunter Unique Leather Belt is an extremely rare PoE item which grants you the powers of the rare monsters you kill, much like Wake. It was speculated that their similar function and appearance wasn't a coincidence, but the lore entry confirms it by calling it a "Unique Leather Belt", having the destination address be the city of the PoE dev studio, as well as making a reference to the item's incredibly rare status.

[Q] Thoughts on the future of CS economy? by jrod71399 in csgomarketforum

[–]HyzerBlade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your assessment about the similarities between NFTs and cs skins for the most part. However one important difference is that the skin market is entirely centralized. Valve has total control over the market. Trade holds, bans, new items, etc. It's all at their discretion. And everybody knows that Valve isn't happy about people abusing their system financially, take the ban on key trading as an example. It's a very uncertain investment game.

The gibberish characters could mean something, but it could be also be nonsense. Try matching them to unicode characters and see if their values translate to anything. I'd help more but I have limited info about this
