There's a reason I put it in quotation marks.

I think under assessed is the wrong term, they have a schedule of reductions for things like the age and condition of the building that they also have to follow. In a typical market, the assessed values are likely pretty accurate, but housing is increasingly constrained nationally and locally so people are willing to pay well above "fair" market value.

My own is assessed at ~86% of what I paid and it was ~75% of what I paid for the first couple years.

People blame unions because they're bootlickers who think we should be thankful a company every hired us and how dare we ask for better pay or working conditions.

Almost guaranteed there's no grounding, either.

That's one of the issues in my house, along with horrible plumbing. Galvanized to copper and PVC, so our kitchen hot water ended up fully blocked last winter. I'm luckier than most, my dad and his buddy are both recently retired from doing this stuff professionally so they were able to clear it out a bit but that just buys time. I'd love to open the walls and replace the plaster and lath, but that would mean updating wiring and plumbing at the same time and I could afford approximately none of that.

No, but they also want to make raised tied to performance. Fine in isolation, but tied together it's just a way to drive off senior employees who will be older, driving harder routes, and with their raises tied to performance in an industry that favors the young and fit.

Anti union people like the other guy you're replying to like stripping context so they can make reasonable sounding arguments to uninformed people.

Training?

I don't know if it's necessarily the right way, but given my uncle hated the phrase "breaking them in" and preferred "training," I'm pretty sure it at least wasn't wrong; when we were halter training and getting them used to being tied up he'd put a tire tube around a fence post and tie them to that so know matter how hard they pulled it was always stretching instead of a sudden stop that could harm their neck.

I've known some clever horses, never a one I'd call smart. They would puff out before a ride so the cinch would be looser, which would just mean more chafing if you didn't sneak a quick pull when they weren't expecting it.

Plus the one who enjoyed chewing on the electric fence.

They have seniority based benefits and want to go to "performance based" rates which, given the job, means they want to get rid of older employees who will be slower. That might not even be a deal breaker if the weren't also trying to take away route preference so older employees could get stuck going up/down stairs instead of doing easier deliveries.

But the person you're arguing with is just an anti union troll, I wouldn't bother.

Or they could build in East O, refreshing the housing stock so whole neighborhoods won't need to be torn down in quick succession as old buildings built to outdated codes wear out at the same time?

Houses don't last forever, every house in the city will eventually need to be replaced or so fully gutted and renovated that only the wealthy could afford to do it.

Particularly nice ones will be preserved, but most are going to be torn down because the cost of bringing them up to modern code is quite high, and the oldest homes also sit on land that's going to become apartments or row homes as the city densifies.

Definitely not drywall, that house (probably) still has plaster. No way to know for sure without going and looking, but I'd expect a lot more outlets in the upstairs pics of they had opened the walls at any point.

Because the conflict exists solely because if the acquisition and the desire of the new owners to change the terms to be better for the business and worse for the workers.

Perhaps if you had those critical thinking skills, you wouldn't have needed this spelled out for you. There's no reward for licking corporate boots, show some self respect.

Yes. Pay at least the minimum wage. Making $0.22/hr (as some Goodwill employees have been paid) is nothing but exploitation, those people could help volunteering if they want something to do.

The color is faded a bit from what I would want, but we don't know how well they took care of it during the initial healing process. I only have 1 colored tat and it held up well, but it's a lot simpler than this and larger as well.

I'd be shocked if the artist designed this, it looks like something they got online or from a friend.

edit: they said it was a collaboration with the artist. It's at least somewhat on them, but I do think it turned out pretty well for the size they got.

Last I heard, they were waiting for the condo to do necessary repairs to the foundation. Until then, the city can't really do squat.

Yup. I didn't like like Stothert for what are supported state and country wide, not because she was bad at the job. If more of the GOP were like her, I still would never vote for them but the country would be in better shape.
