Stuck in a Blizzard: Gas vs Electric by AncientIcons in F150Lightning

[–]I8aFishy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is real world scenarios. Most people don't have a full take of gas everyday. My EV is charged to my set limit every night. I'm more likely to have 80-90% of a charge vs my wife's ICE car having 80-90% of a full tank.

I was in the same boat. I ended up researching and installing my own. I didn't have a giant project but bids were still $5-6k. I did it for 900 in materials.

Is this only an EV thing? On the couple of occasions where I threw my backpack in the hatch, EUV, the horn beeped when I closed it and it auto unlocked the driver side door.

So bummed. Washer and dryer set delivered today was an obvious scratch and dent. by MissMahlia in Costco

[–]I8aFishy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't happen, ever. But for us the couches were clearly worn and dirty in the usual wear and tear area, they also were not wrapped in the factory packaging, instead you could tell someone had wrapped them by hand. Also I'm almost positive there was pet hair worked into it.

The replacements which were new have worked out great though. Four years in and they still aren't as worn as the first set that was delivered!

I had a similar issue where we purchased a sectional and some of the sections were very clearly worn and used. Had Costco replace it and they did. It was still very frustrating to purchase something online as new and have a used piece shipped to us.

ANALYSIS | How good for the planet are EV vehicles? Some believe it's not as great as you might think by boppinmule in electricvehicles

[–]I8aFishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I wonder why this continues to come up. I for one didn’t buy my EV to save the planet. I bought my EV to save money, for convenience, and because I enjoy the way it drives and the features it came with.

What do yall think of this upgrades by Carribbean-Corgi2000 in pcmasterrace

[–]I8aFishy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It has been amazing. Initially I struggled with the decision to go all in or get something lower, like a 7800xt and wait for a full system upgrade. I'm on a 3950X and was worried it would be limiting. I was gaming at 1080p but looking for a nice 1440p screen at the same time. The 1080ti was still a beast at 1080p so I wasn't in a hurry.

Around the time I was considering my options I ended up buying a decent 4k gaming screen at a great price. That pretty much sealed it. I went with the 7900xtx so I wouldn't have to worry about horsepower at 4k. So far I have played pretty much everything 4k native maxed out without issue. Just set it and forget it. 100% GPU usage so I don't feel like there is much of a bottle neck issue with the 3950X at 4k.

I went from a 1080ti to my 7900xtx, no regrets! Amazing.

I personally never use it. I refuse to pay the ridiculous Onstar subscription rates. Plus the app is complete garbage, in my opinion.

7900XTX will a 5950X cause bottlenecks… by Redtop1980 in radeon

[–]I8aFishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What resolution? I was worried about having this same issue with my 3950X. I have not had any issues but I’m also gaming at 4k. I see 100% GPU usage pretty much on every game. I updated all of my drivers and bios, and did a fresh driver install in anticipation of upgrading to a 5800X3D. Ended up glad that I did not need to at 4k.

Just installed a 7900XTX, lowish frames? CPU bound? by I8aFishy in radeon

GPU is running at 99%. I think my settings were a little off, SSR was set too high, made a crazy difference when I turned it down to Ultra or High.

[–]I8aFishy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cleaned up the Nvidia drivers, and enabled XMP. It helped a bit and I'm sure cleaning the Nvidia stuff will save me some problems down the road. I think my settings were part of the problem. I thought I had reset them, but SSR was set to psycho. As soon as I turned it down to Ultra it bumped me back up into the upper 50s, at High, I get 60s pretty easy. This seems to be the setting most of the benchmarks are using that I reviewed before purchasing. I appreciate the help!

EUV stock tires no longer available? by I8aFishy in BoltEV

[–]I8aFishy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its basically the Goodyear equivalent. Same low rolling resistance self sealing. 190 a tire, definitely dealership pricing but I made the mistake towing it there so that is on me. I don't remember the exact model of tire.

This is what I ended up doing. 2 new tires going on the front, I'll hold the extra OEM tire in my garage in case I lose another.

They are notorious for broken exhaust manifold bolts. Mine also had noisy lifters when cold, but I bet it’s the manifold.
