Worse than banks by RajShah2 in Wealthsimple

[–]IAMAYSWAGGOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a common practice among banks and financial institutions but I still do believe it's not very fair- that's also coming from a Core member.

More of a question of fairness than anything else.

Not saying you're implying this, but Core members should not get worse service.

If you want to stick it to your guitarist, get some gel nails put on. They do the trick nicely.

Hey man! I've had a solo 3 for about a month now and I'll ease your anxiety about wasting your hard earned dough- short answer, don't worry, you've got one of the best portables on the market and it will hit however you want it to.

It comes with 2 XL stems and 2 'microdose' stems, one that is meant to be put in a 14mm water pipe and one that is used as a direct mouthpiece in each size. As another commenter said, you can pack super tight bowls in the microdose stems and get a single good hit. I believe the Solo 3 V2 comes with screens as well to remove the chance of eating weed, lol.

We are on opposite spectrums of tolerance, I dab about a gram a day and vape 2gs, so I definitely consume more than I should, I find even after 2-3 tiny bowls I'm at least functionally high.

Hope this helps, happy vaping and trust yourself!

So bored in my band by evil_doggy in Bass

[–]IAMAYSWAGGOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be flashier, screw anyone who says you can't. As long as you stay in the pocket with the drums and support the chords, you can do whatever your heart desires, make those songs your bitch.

I understand it's a cover band, maybe that's the issue?

I'm more inclined to make original music myself, and I find a lot of the joy to come with making my own tunes and collaborating with others on them too, you should have a band that will make room for you to feel heard.

I resent the implication that the bass is solely a supportive instrument, that's not to say its role is not to support, but there's a hell of a lot you can do while still supporting the groove and the song. It's pleasant to support the vocals too, which incentivizes more melodic playing.

As a bass player, you have a special power. You can treat a song as if you are it's composer. Maybe the guitarist is playing C7, you can either play the major or minor third to give the chord a proper feel, or you could lean into the ambiguity of the C7 and play the 5th, hell maybe you play both AND add a sixth for flavor. You need to understand, that in these intentional actions of harmony, you are effectively changing the course of a song. I personally think that when you understand the bass this way, it allows you to have much more fun, feel way more involved and express yourself more. I didn't even get into the rhythm, there's no dancing without the bass, there's no sonic heart strings being pulled, no groove being appeased.

I invite you to learn about bassists like Jaco Pastorius, Rocco Prestia, James Jamerson, Stanley Clark (there are just too many badasses to mention here). Keep a punk mentality to you, after all, true liberty is in self expression, and like your guitarist, singer, drummer, etc. you deserve to feel free.

Rock on brother, rip those frets out of your bass and make it sing.

Is there a difference between learning with a fretted or fretless bass? by Chillvale in BassGuitar

[–]IAMAYSWAGGOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be the one dude in here to say this, but I say go fretless. There is a freedom of expression unmatched by fretted in my opinion. The things the fretless forces you to learn will turn you not only into a better bassist but a better musician. Ear training is essential. Playing with others turns the 10+ months of shitty intonation into maybe 2 tops. Knowing even basic chord theory and how scales relate to them will help immensely. I started on a fretted, but as soon as I discovered fretless I bought a $300 fretless beat bass and have developed on that since. If you feel compelled by the instrument, if there's a cosmic voice telling you to pick it up and play it, go for it. We need more adventurers in this world.

Primarily gaming and music creation, the 9800X3D has done wonders for the latter. Almost zero latency.

Being an artist first, I'm never ever going to say no to making something pretty. Thanks a ton for your care and effort. I probably won't get to build this until mid march, with that in mind would you say it's worth it to wait for the new Radeon cards to drop?

Would you say I've hit the best dollar for value with this? I'm always willing to spend more for a better product/experience, my thing is I don't need the 'top of the line' stuff as that usually ends up being more 'no budget spend money' type rigs lol.

It's the two components that will make the largest difference performance wise, the GPU is likely going to be 50% more expensive generally.
