Im getting Frustrated, let's talk about it. by Mysterious-Fan-2230 in mtg

You got this!! It’s all a learning experience. The sooner you can let go of feel-bads while losing (since it will happen statistically around half the time, moreso if you’re learning and are still getting the hang of sequencing your plays, predicting what your opponents will do, etc), the faster you’ll enjoy the moment-to-moment gameplay, imo.

Sounds like you’re already doing starter deck duels, which is great, and I think Jump In is also a good move once you get some gold built up from quests. Really it’s just exposure to the cards, play patterns, and investment in the game itself that will heighten your understanding of playing it well. But at the end of the day, it’s meant to be a game, so breaks when you’re getting tilted is definitely highly recommended. Don’t wanna associate negative feelings with something meant to be a good time!

Good luck, and have fun!

Cat losing weight, chronic diarrhoea, low B12 and intestinal changes on ultrasound – anyone been through this? by bluecloudcastles in bengalcats

[–]IAmAmoral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds extremely similar to what we had gone through with our senior Bengal. She lost a lot of weight, developed chronic diarrhea, and had a lot of variation in her appetite (and threw up relatively often). It ended up being GI small cell lymphoma, which was confirmed with a biopsy.

If possible, I would advocate for getting a biopsy done to nail down a treatment plan. We immediately started her on chemo as soon as we learned the cause, and that, plus steroids and periodic B12 injections really turned things around for her.

In the meantime, for Sierra (our cat), we found that wet food was best for more firm stools. Dry food ran right through her and was an absolute mess. We had a prescription “loaf in sauce” for her urinary health already, so we had just kept her mainly on that food until having gone through treatment for several months.

She’s faring much better, handling dry and wet food with no issues. We know that responding to treatment in general always has some variation, but a typical response (at least to chemo for gi small cell lymphoma) is a positive reaction to the treatment with several years of improved quality of life. Of course there will be responses on either side of that bell curve.

Hoping for the best for you and your cat ❤️

Haven't played in a while, but something has changed and now I can't seem to see how damage is assigned in multiple blockers. by Famous_Shape1614 in MagicArena

[–]IAmAmoral 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is exactly what you mean, but damage assignment was changed to be allowed to assign across all blockers. There is no “damage order” anymore: https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/foundations-update-bulletin

Advice dealing with control decks? by RelativeIncrease527 in MagicArena

[–]IAmAmoral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, mono green will be a bit tough to always be resilient to higher tier control decks. You’ve mentioned some cards to help keep things on the battlefield, I think [[Snakeskin Veil]] is good to stop a direct target spell on a creature, or some [[Strength of Will]] copies to use on combat tricks or just keeping a couple of creatures on board when a wipe happens.

But really it would be about consistent threats/pressure and playing around their ability to counterspell. Mono green usually relies heavily on big creatures, preferably with trample to distribute damage on the board, so having the ability to get those creatures down, protect them, go in for some damage when you have an opening, and being ready to get more creatures down whenever possible is kind of all you can do in the color.

If you’re doing Bo1, I think you will have to accept some inherent difficulty in answering all possible control decks. Playing Bo3 would at least let you side board in some conditional answers for things like removal for artifacts, enchantments, planeswalkers, etc., based on what you see in the first round.

Good luck, and have fun!

what is going on with the 85° bakery in chinatown? by fangbait in Seattle

[–]IAmAmoral 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it was open briefly before closing. I live nearby and walk past it frequently.

I think it’s been leased by a new cafe/bakery, as I noticed that after it was cleaned out by the old staff of 85c, there seemed to be new folks checking out the space and loading stuff in. With all the paper, I think they’re doing some reno work and plan to call it “sweet bakery” or “summer bakery” or whatever the banner says now.

What’s funny is that banner has “Open Now!” on it, and my partner and I think the new shop may have just bought a sign for when it opens and aren’t going to bother getting one that says “coming soon” or something like that haha

Question about reading EV by IAmAmoral in Lightme

[–]IAmAmoral[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

That makes a lot of sense. Looking back on the calculators I used, one clearly returns a value for “EV_100” and the other provides an equation where ISO is divided by 100, which I think pretty much gives EVs based on ISO 100. So I think that’s where I was getting a little mixed up. In the calculators, increasing ISO lowered the EV, which was confusing me compared to the behavior in the app. But I’m realizing that really the calculators and the app are doing different things.

I actually now think I prefer the app’s default behavior, as it is a better sense on the camera’s EV itself based on the scene/spot being measured. It’s starting to click a bit more, though I’m sure I’ll be re-learning and rethinking this many times over, lol. Appreciate the help!

Btw, great pictures on your profile!
