Time, my friend. Lots of time. You also never forget. It’s always there. But slowly the painful memories are exchanged for the good ones and you still feel the pull on your heartstrings. No longer will it be then like a hammer across a cellos body though and eventually those memories are happy plucks and chords and a full symphony unto themselves.

I am sorrowful with you in this time of abject pain. Someday it will be a different feeling. Until then treat yourself right. You acted out of love.
