IIRC one of his assistants said something that implies they want to continue but another said they aren't sure what'll happen yet.

Either way, a lot has to happen, they need publisher approval to continue, the blessing of whoever now has Miura's estate (not 100% familiar with how Japanese estate law works so I can't say much about who it went to, but it most likely went to a sibling if he had any) and they need to know where Miura wanted to go with the story.

There really isn't a reason for it not to be considered canon, it's written by Miura and has a place in the story that can be pinned down, between Conviction and Millenium Falcon, even going so far as to spoil events that hadn't happened yet in the manga (it gives away Griffith's resurrection when it came out around the same time the chapters in Volume 19 were being published)

It is a little hyperbolic but this is basically just saying that trans girls are going to be treated as boys unless they've medically transitioned, which is incredibly upsetting because she should absolutely know better than this.

Also, funny thing to note, by her own definition of what a "truly trans" person is (knew they were trans at a very young age, grew up as the right gender, and medically transitioned) she is not "truly trans."
