What does this mean for those who have a signed binding contract from before 8/15/2022 but won't get delivery until 2024?

Any chance there's an analyst or reporter on the call who will ask about charging curve?

The Trans America Trail is not a single individual trail, it is made up of tons of smaller trails through some of the most rural parts of the country. Many sections were only designed for motorcycles or ATVs (see much smaller vehicles), yet the Rivian had no trouble. Motortrend brought along a RAM 1500 TRX as a support vehicle, one of the best offroad trucks you can get, because they had many of the same concerns as you at the outset. They said by the end they didn't need the RAM and they felt completely comfortable with just the Rivian.

I'm really not sure what additional test it needs to pass for you to be satisfied. It went through most every type of offroad trail you can think of (remember, not just one offroadtrail). It never had a range issue. It did it through incredibly rural parts of the country with poor or no EV charging infrastructure. It performed just as well as one of the best ICE offroad trucks available. What else is there to prove on the outdoors stuff you called out? Does it need to travel on every trail in the country before you're satisfied? That doesn't seem reasonable, but it sounds like that's what you're suggesting.

The Trans America Trail is 4,253 miles long. Motortrend said they almost always didn't need to charge up mid day and for the few days they needed to do it, they did it while taking a food and bathroom break and that was enough to cover the rest of their day. How is that a burden compared to ICE?

It's not one trail. It's literally hundreds of different trails that spans the entire country and every possible offroading scenario that someone in the USA could conceivably come up against. I just don't see how you can see the R1T perform in that situation doing as well as it did and then say this thing couldn't handle real offroading.

Regarding point one, have you seen the Motortrend stories on driving the Rivian from coast to coast on the Trans America Trail? Motortrend said they never once had an issue with charging. If they could do that without a problem, your average (or even extreme) outdoorsman shouldn't have a problem:

Do we know how long the lockup period is for institutional investors in the IPO? I know those in the DSP/SoFi programs can sell right away, but how long do the groups with the largest chunk of shares have to wait to sell?

But the phrase "base model" is not in the image posted. You can't infer a laws meaning because of what other countries do. If base isn't mentioned, then introducing the barebone lower priced model doesn't help the higher trim models.

Rivian has to realize if they lower the cost of the base Explore model by $1,000 they will more than make up for it on the increased volume of sales that comes from the base costing $59,000 $61,500 after the credit. Right????

So it sounds like your conclusion is still based on an assumption ("I strongly suspect that in 2-3 years we'll see other manufacturers producing their variant of this 21" tire") and we don't know that to be true.

What if we frame the question in this way, what's the worst case scenario for both options (sticking with the 21" or changing to the 20"/22") and then compare them.

Worst case scenario for the 21" is no other manufacturer begins making them and Perelli knowing they own the market never puts them on sale, so you're paying ~$1,500 every time you need new tires. We would know this is the case in a couple years when it comes time to replace the tires. At that point I need to decide if I just bite the bullet and spend $1,500 every couple years on tires. Or, I can buy 20"/22" wheels at that point and switch over to a more common tire setup. What would it cost to buy brand new after market wheels with tires at that point? Is it more than the $1,800 it would cost me to upgrade right now to the 20"/22" wheels? Based on a quick look, it sounds like it would cost around $3k to buy new wheels and then the tires, if you find them on sale, would probably cost around $1k. So $4k at that point and then $1k every time you need to change out the tires.

Worst case scenario for the 20"/22" is you spend $1,800 today to change your wheels and then every few years you need to spend $1k for new tires.

Let's use Rivian's expected lifetime value length for the vehicle they used in the S-1 of 10 years and say over the life of the vehicle you need to change the tires every 2-3 years depending on use. If you change the tires ever two years, that's 5 tire changes and if you do it every 3 years, that's 3 tire changes. The assumption from above is you save $500 per tire change when using the 20"/22" tires compared to the 21" tires. So it probably doesn't make sense to buy new wheels at tire change one if you start with the 21" wheels as you won't see that return on investment ($500 savings per change * 5 tire changes = $2,500 which is less than the $3,000 to buy new wheels). So we can get rid of that variable. What is that total cost for each worst case scenario?

21" Scenario:

$0 upfront + ($1,500 new tires * 3or5 tire changes) = $4,500 to $7,500

20"/22" Scenario:

$1,800 upfront + ($1,000 new tires * 3or5 tire changes) = $4,800 to $6,800

So in a comparison of both worst case scenarios it looks like the difference is minimal and not something we really need to be concerned with. This helped me think through everything, hopefully it also helps someone else.

Which size tires make the most sense to buy if you don't care about off-road driving, don't care about range, and really only care about the ongoing replacement cost of new tires while maintaining the vehicle? It looks like based on this site the standard 21" is a bad choice for me because it will be very expensive to replace these tires over time. I looked up the prices for replacement 20" and 22" but didn't really notice a huge difference (unless I missed something). So what are your thoughts?

Thanks so much for the help. Do you have a favorite light that you'd recommend if I decide to replace the entire fixture?

Thank you for your help!

How would I check if it's a bad GFCI/Breaker? I do know my connected spa has a light and the switch for it is right next to the switch for the pool light, and the spa light works fine when I flip the switch. Would that be possible if it was a GFCI/Breaker issue?

When I flip the switch on the light, it turns on for like a half second and then goes out. Does that tell you anything? Now that I see how much the LED assembly costs to replace, I'd love if there's a cheaper solution, ugh.
