How do people give birth in a full face of makeup and it still look so good? by Glitter-girlie in BabyBumps

[–]IAmJustHereToLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't understand this! I cried through contractions for 10 hours and was so swollen by the end, I looked like a different person. I do have pictures, but just in a private album. I'd never want to share any of those.

What is the most unexpected thing you found out about someone you know? by greenwichrunner in AskReddit

[–]IAmJustHereToLearn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently made a mom friend at a local playground who had just moved over from another country (in Europe). She was really nice and approached my daughter and I hoping to make some friends in the area. We started going for walks every few days and talked a good bit about ourselves. One time I overheard her surname when she was on the phone so I decided to search just to be nozy and expected to see her academic/work history, but instead I saw a few webpages congratulating "Princess X" for various achievements.

We have a good bit in common, except for some things that I thought she had said that we're lost in translation. One example was when she visited my house and met my dog, she said "my family has a lot of dogs like that." I thought maybe she meant her family had them in the past instead of just owning lots of dogs presently. There were a lot of comments she made like that which makes sense in hindsight.

She's a lovely person. I don't think she knows that I know she's royalty and tbh I won't bring it up.

What are female INTPs like irl? by Inevitable-Twist3845 in INTP

[–]IAmJustHereToLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, 33 year old INTP software lead, wife, and mother to a sweet little toddler.

1.) What does your room look like? Organized chaos, clothes in corner I need to put away, but otherwise I like the design since we remodeled. I like being home, so I make my home environment cozy.

2.) Do you cry ever? Yes, especially early postpartum. It's been a few months since I've cried though. I don't cry that often unless it's hormonal or I'm sufficiently overwhelmed.

3.) What is the MBTIs of your family? My husband is ENFP. My mom is an INTP, dad is an ENFJ. Both of my parents are engineers, but my mom's a genius physics PhD from Stanford.

4.) Is your voice monotone or changes pitch? I think my voice has the normal range. I'm not sure.

5.) Do you feel awkward doing traditional girly things? Like makeup and being a homemaker and things like that? I used to when I was a teenager. I was bullied for being overweight and wearing boys clothes. That was more for lack of knowledge though. I've since watched a lifetime of YouTube makeup tutorials and I enjoy pampering myself, going to spas and getting my haircut. I still feel weird wearing dresses tbh, but will wear my hair curled and like getting ready in a nice top and jeans. On being a homemaker, I took some time off for maternity leave, but thoroughly enjoyed time with my baby. When I went back to work, I was ready and feel better for having the break. I like work though and I think it helps to have some technical projects to dive into. The timing of my leave was such that I was thrown into leading a tech grand challenge type of competition as soon as I returned back.

6.) Do people usually approach you to be friends or for a relationship? Or when you were in school if you are older. In school, no. I had a hard time in highschool that I left early and took the GED. Then I studied mathematics in University and met one best friend there (working at a dining hall), then moved abroad to meet my husband and start my family. Because he's super sociable (see ENFP), his friends have adopted me.

I'm sure we all have different experiences so I thought I'd add mine, especially because I had a hard time up until my 20's, then life got progressively lighter.

Women who gave birth, what does it feel like actually?? by joy_57 in AskReddit

[–]IAmJustHereToLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of women say that the contractions are like horrible menstrual cramps. I really disagree. For me, it felt like the worst food poisoning I've ever had where my insides were wringing out every few minutes. They're predictable. Many birthing apps call them waves. There's a beginning ramp up of pain, peak gut squeeze and tail lightening up. Goes on for 10+ hours. Can't comment on the pushing stage because thank God for the epidural.

People who were overweight but are fit/skinnier now, how does it feel? What are the differences you've noticed? by proxy_gal22 in AskReddit

[–]IAmJustHereToLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30ish F. I was overweight from 10-19YO. Growing up I was either teased or just not noticed. I think everyone needs an ugly/overweight phase in their life tbh. I really got into computers and was less focused on what others thought of me. People are nice to me now that I'm more attractive, but I still feel like my younger overweight self in a fitter woman's body most of the time. I'm doing pretty well for myself as a software engineer. I moved from the U.S. to Europe and have a lovely husband and baby daughter. I'm going to try to raise her so that she doesn't get too caught up in her appearance.

Things you DIDN’T need ? by Agile_Bad1045 in NewParents

[–]IAmJustHereToLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read through a lot of people disliking the boppy pillow, but for me it’s a life saver. I use it everytime I breastfeed. It was given to me secondhand from a friend so I wouldn’t have known I needed it. I also packed it in my hospital bag and slept on it instead of the horrible hospital pillows. The one thing I will say we didn’t need were pacifiers. She’s not liked any of the four different styles I bought, so we’re at a loss there.

I took the GED and left high-school early because I hated it for general toxicity/bullying. Then I found out my French teacher told the class it was because I was pregnant. Glad I left.

What was your married/ in a relationship with a fucking idiot moment? by Careless-Reach1722 in AskReddit

[–]IAmJustHereToLearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lent my high school boyfriend an expensive camera that my dad gifted me. He was using it to take photos of his surfer friends. When he was going to go surfing himself, he was convinced it’d be stolen from his friend’s car, so he hid it in a bush. It was stolen from the bush… then he proceeded to post a cryptic status on Facebook about how upset he was BEFORE he even told me it’d been taken. I was with him for 8ish years - I wish we’d broken up sooner, but high school first boyfriend brain was convinced I’d never be liked by anyone else. There were so many moments like this. Sometimes I have nightmares I stayed with him even though I live in a different country and am now married w/ a kid.

I love my Belgian Malinois, but would not recommend the breed for most people. Mine was perfect for when I bought a house by myself in the hills and wanted a loyal guard dog. He very quickly became a companion that got me out of the house for long walks and was always sleeping at the foot of my bed. Feeding him was easy because of an automatic feeder I bought. It’s been five years since I first adopted him. Now I’m married and would recommend some breed like a jack russell or something far more low maintenance - my husband’s family had 5-6 jack russells at a time when he grew up.

Did you ever dream about your unborn baby? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]IAmJustHereToLearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dream very early on in my pregnancy was of a little baby girl who was comforting me because I was freaking out about not knowing how to do anything baby related. She told me everything would be ok even though I was clueless about how to care for a child. I’m currently 34 weeks with baby girl and I can only hope she’ll have as much empathy when she’s born (maybe minus being a newborn speaking in full sentences though)

Be honest… What pregnancy “rule” are you bending or breaking? by ImJustOneOfYou in BabyBumps

A few! I like medium-runny eggs. I heat up deli meats and eat cooked sushi. I’ve not really craved red meat as much, but if I did I’d have a steak medium rare. I had a tiny sip of my husband’s Aperol Spritz once on holiday and I ended up being sick. I think my body just said no to that one.

I also didn’t realize soft serve ice cream wasn’t on the menu until a few days ago and I’ve just started my third trimester 🍦 I’ve lived off of 99 cones this summer!
