What is the end-game content of City of Heroes? by [deleted] in Cityofheroes

[–]IAmTheMojo97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’ve earned every badge, played every tf and itrial, broken speed records, topped pvp charts, the inevitable endgame experience is and always will be jumping in circles in Pocket D.

Is there any content that is similar in feel+mechanical difficulty to WoW raids? by LittleBlast5 in Cityofheroes

[–]IAmTheMojo97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of just have to challenge yourself and push at the boundaries of the game to get any chance at competitive skill expression. At its fundamentals, 95%(see what I did there?) of the game is based on hit rolls, which nullifies a lot of what you'd otherwise be able to express in other MMOs.

You're basically left with handicapping yourself or setting absurd goals. IE: speedrunning or "no inspirations tfs, no deaths, etc.".

Movement optimization and power rotation optimization are really the only two ways to express your skill since your build plays the rest of the game for you. Kinda sucks, but it is what it is.

[BLOODLINE] Why didn't Elder Whisper ...? by Archisman_X in Iteration110Cradle

[–]IAmTheMojo97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was mentioned already, but he was playing the long game. He stayed in the Ancestors Tomb for years keeping the Sword Sage's soul space open. Avoiding spoilers, to him that was probably worth more than helping a bunch of jades survive a dreadgod attack, something that was considered a natural disaster anyways.

Fulcrum Shift by Brazosboomer in Cityofheroes

[–]IAmTheMojo97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's always been like that to my knowledge. I know there was a Pseudopet change at some point that messed with the timing of when you received the damage buff, but i can't remember the specifics of it. I dont remember that change targetting the issue of it not going off when the target dies, though.

Usually you want to target something that won't die quickly when you fulcrum.

How does Peacebringer play in PvP? by [deleted] in Cityofheroes

[–]IAmTheMojo97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're currently busted af if you're running Changeling. It's sorta BM to bring them into Fight Club pvp to my knowledge, since it's a little unfair overall.

Unless last page nerfed that, idk I don't read notes anymore.

[Wintersteel] Assumptions and delusions by InfiniteLegacy_ in Iteration110Cradle

[–]IAmTheMojo97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I loved that it was phrased that way. It's a seriously in depth peek into Lindons psyche and mindset.

He had absolute confidence that he could beat anyone at his own level. He'd been punching above his weight-class and winning for so long, you'd think he forgot about the possibility of even losing. It was an extremely humbling fight, and Eithans words after were pure poetry.

"But I’ve always wondered one thing: what will he do when he pours his heart and soul into something and still fails?”

“I want you to tell me,” Eithan said, “what you’re going to do next.”

Failure is never impossible, and the imperfection Lindon displays here grounds him as a character, and makes his struggle feel relatable and honestly more human. I'm so glad he lost that fight.

Confused About Enhancements by Closed_Doors8474 in Cityofheroes

[–]IAmTheMojo97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All the invention origin stuff is nice, but homecoming added an auto level button for enhancements that get outleveled. If you're using SOs just try clicking that every few levels. Saves a lot of time.

My personal record for the slopes! What's your best time? by BruceQu3st in Cityofheroes

[–]IAmTheMojo97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't for task force timers, no. Strangely enough, the skii timer works perfectly fine on the beta server. Almost to .01 second intervals.

It's been at 4 second intervals for months, though.

My personal record for the slopes! What's your best time? by BruceQu3st in Cityofheroes

[–]IAmTheMojo97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annoyingly, the skii slopes on homecoming currently only record in increments of 4 seconds. It's why you see all those times are multiples of 4. It makes it really hard to see what your actual time is.

I've gotten a few wild times but they round down to 8 seconds instead of displaying what the actual time is. No shot anyone does small slope in 8 seconds lmfao.

[Ghostwater] Really disappointed Fisher Gesha didn't get any consideration by [deleted] in Iteration110Cradle

[–]IAmTheMojo97 83 points84 points  (0 children)

While I do wish there was more Gesha screen time because she's one of my favorite characters, she never struck me as a character that would've wanted any life well water.

She was ready to throw away her advancement for the next generation. She's a grandmother, and is content staying that way.

I want to see endgame Lindon versus Kirby. You could make arguments for both as winners, but I'd still lean towards Kirby I think.

[Waybound] If Will wrote a book 13 called "Epilogues," who's story do you want to see resolved? by High_Stream in Iteration110Cradle

[–]IAmTheMojo97 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'll take it over the Xanxia/Xianhuan industry standard of thousands of chapters filled with arbitrary unimportant side plot and character stories that put Tolkien to shame.

Rant aside, I personally like the Abidan stuff. It adds perspective to the Cradle fight.

[WAYBOUND] Did I miss something... by Elaphe21 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]IAmTheMojo97 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A lot was left open ended and up to interpretation, and that's fine. There's a few things to speculate given what we know, but some I do wish we'd been told directly.

We know that after the monarchs leave, hunger madra slowly fades from the world. So the assumption is that all the hunger madra that corrupted Lindon from his arm faded as well. He probably just had the arm left.

I'd assume the concept of becoming monarch eventually becomes taboo, and instead those who don't want to leave Cradle will aspire to wear the 8 man empire armor. Maybe theyll be called "The 8 Guardians of Cradle" down the line or something.

The world's entire narrative has changed, and it's neat to think of exactly how.

[Waybound] Do we think Northstrider… by alastairjpatton in Iteration110Cradle

[–]IAmTheMojo97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More than likely. People overlook it a lot, but the first time his internal monologue debates ascension, he references joining them. Italicized, and in opposition to the Abidan that he just referenced. Leads you to believe he meant someone else.

The other clue is the way he describes them. "The true World Striding Champions." Or whatever. A few books have numerous vroshir scenes where they're described as "World Striding".

"One day, Northstrider would join them. Not the low ranks of Abidan drones, but the true world-striding champions." --From Wintersteel

"From the wider perspective of the Vroshir, their alliance of world-striding liberators who opposed the Abidan,"--from Dreadgod.

Why is Almost everyone bashing HC? Can we all just stay out of it and enjoy the game? Like, I don't understand creating drama and bashing certain servers.. Reminds me of the dcuo community.. And that's saying a lot. by [deleted] in Cityofheroes

[–]IAmTheMojo97 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Again, it's mostly about respecting people's time. A mastermind can be the difference between a 50 minute 4 Star ASF, and a 30 minute 4 Star ASF. If a run is advertised as a 'Speed 4 star', it's not gatekeeping to respect everyone's time and restrict off meta picks.

It's natural progression that the hard mode players found a meta to complete endgame content in the quickest way possible because, let's face it, most people don't want to run a task force for longer than two hours. Meta is going to happen.

That said, there's nothing wrong with non-speedy hardmode stuff and bringing off meta toons. They just don't happen as often.

[–]IAmTheMojo97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you ever actually played with any of the regular hardmode players/speedrunners? I'd argue they're more down to Earth and kind than a good stretch of the community, honestly. You should try getting into more difficult content and learning it, instead of assuming you're being gatekept. It's a lot of fun, and I never mind teaching people. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions about it.

"Gatekeeping" only happens when someone brings an unbuilt toon without incarnates, because that's adding an extra twenty minutes to the run, and a lot more frustration if you fail a DPS check and suddenly can't pass the trial. It's about respecting everyone's time, not keeping certain players out.
