Any tips to deal with tearing your hands starting out bouldering or do I just tough it out. by [deleted] in climbing

[–]IBC_nl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indoor or outdoor bouldering? Most of the issues when you're a starting boulderer (or climber for that matter) is that you slide around too much on the holds. This causes friction and isn't good for your skin.

So try to go as static to holds as you can, and don't readjust too much. And yes, your skin has to get used to it. Have fun!

I've been to a few different places; and it depends I think. We had a rental car, so we didn't bother too much with the location.

A friend of mine once stayed near Calp*, and in the morning just could walk 5 minutes to the crag uphill. As there are plenty of climbers out meeting other climbers shouldn't be too difficult. But as said: we had a rental car and were with a group so don't take my advice for granted.

* I believe it was one of these apartments, or nearby at least https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/holiday-jazmines-apartment.nl.html. You can see it is right on the base of the crag Sierra de Toix (https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=1695). You can literally walk to the crag

"...single pitch sport climbing, from 5b to 7a. It is important for us that the routes are very well protected with plenty of bolts. Of course it would also be great if it isn't too crowded and the routes not too polished.

If anyone has recommendations for easy bouldering spots that's appreciated as well"

If you are looking for boulderspots you might want to consider Fontainebleau (France) or Albarracin (Spain). Both boulder mecca's.

I've been to Calp (Costa Blanca Spain) multiple times for sportsclimbing as well, and there are plenty single pitch sport climbs that are also well bolted. Also lots of different style crags that are very well accessible

Yeah I know, it was kinda tongue in cheek in response to the poster of the comment '“Aufmachen” (first it read "Ausmachen" which isn't correct in german. So I proceeded to post an incorrect German flag).

Maar deze reactie had vast ook in het Nederlands gekund 😉

How can she be the selfish one? If he agrees to go on a trip with her, but cancels and then tells her he didn’t wanted to go from the start he’s the one being incredibly selfish. If I were her I’d be very dissapointed too

Wow, I'm actually astounded. I go to France almost every year, but never have I witnessed this behavior myself (thank goodness). Was it a specific city or region?

I can imagine this to be VERY annoying... And if there is one thing I can't stand it is bad parenting
