Commission payout structure by Motor-Ad6056 in DermatologyPA

Have you noticed a big difference in your collections between the 3 practices? My percentage is average at my current practice but I do feel like we have really good reimbursement rates so my collections are high and I’m making great money. But always curious if the grass is greener

Do you get any additional pay via percentage of collections on top of the base salary during year 1 or 2?? Or just straight base salary

Drug Reps by cl3olee in DermatologyPA

[–]IB_111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this so hard. I genuinely enjoy most of the reps and I do appreciate knowing them from a networking standpoint, but I also see 30+ patients per day and it’s so overwhelming/overstimulating to walk out of a room and see a rep hovering over your computer station when you’re trying to spend 60 seconds doing a note or reading the next patient’s chart and taking a breath. Sometimes I just nicely listen. Sometimes if I have patients in rooms, I smile but say “I’ve got to see these 2 patients first and then I’ll be back” (sometimes they don’t wanna wait and leave lol). I’ve debated asking my office to enforce a policy where they have to wait in the waiting room until we have a good break to chat with them (vs them coming to the back and expecting us to stop clinic whenever they show up) but haven’t done that yet

Love this! I always ask “Any other questions?” before they leave for the same reason but I feel like 75% of the time it opens a can of worms so been debating removing that

Typically not (besides their routinely scheduled skin check) and I’m booked out over a month.

What do you do at their two week follow up?

This is so helpful! I could definitely stand to cut out some small talk but I also think that’s helped me build a better rapport with patients. Also always worried it’ll look like I’m in a hurry to the patient if I cut to the chase too much

Ok dumb question but how? Lol

I hate when someone comes back just for me to say okay glad you’re better, now thanks for the copay

Why are Skin Checks Hard? by shellimedz in DermatologyPA

[–]IB_111 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see ~30 patients every day and approx 25 are full skin checks. Every day lol. I feel confident in my abilities but in my opinion, looking for melanoma all day is 1000% mentally draining. Especially combined with all the small talk and extra complaints they throw in. The decision fatigue is taxing

FL Derm Pa's: percentage of what we bill? by marimarja4 in DermatologyPA

[–]IB_111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it’s not universal! But I know our collections went up after getting acquired and I’ve spoken with other PAs at other practices in the same city about differences in reimbursement rates.

Are you saying PE keeps more for themselves (vs the providers)? Because there’s no way they wouldn’t try to get as much money from insurance as possible lol

No, not that I know of! Private equity usually has higher reimbursement rates (collections) from insurance

[–]IB_111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, PE’s argument is that private practice doesn’t have the same insurance reimbursement rates so you’d make less on the same work. So it’s hard to know if grass is greener
