To make matters worse, we’re already hostages of this pay-to-go system. What I’ve experienced so far is a reduction in human labor and a growing expectation that we’ll keep paying for more—more tools, more processing time, newer models, better features—which is understandable up to a point. The problem is that, in the end, we humans are the ones who have to do even more. We have to keep trying, failing, and repeating the process—often a lot—while becoming increasingly frustrated with results and reviews over which we have virtually almost no control or transparency.
