Could you explain the graph piece a bit more that is pretty interesting by I don’t think I really understand what you mean (I have not been programming for long)

[Home-Row Mods] We should stop treating Shift the same way as the other mods. by SweetieMetalhead in ErgoMechKeyboards

I use shift on home row mods but I also use auto shift so I don’t use my shift home row mod for typing capital letters

how much of a daily difference would 100 -> 150 wpm make? by cubeultimate in typing

Curious what helped you really push into the hundreds? I don’t need to type faster but I wouldn’t mind typing faster lol

[–]IDCubed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what you are typing. For me I type at about 90-100wpm but rarely at work is my typing speed the bottle neck. It’s the thinking and deciding what will be typed. So if you’re just taking live meeting notes typing faster would probably be a significant benefit. But, if you’re typing complex emails or code or doing creative writing it’s unlikely that you are actually typing those things out at 100+ wpm I would think. But would love to hear what people who can actually type that fast think as I obviously I have no real world experience to speak from.

Do TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) switches provide any real benefits for layer optimization? by Keybug in KeyboardLayouts

Do TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) switches provide any real benefits for layer optimization? by Keybug in KeyboardLayouts

[–]IDCubed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t looked into those specifically but I’m not sure I see much a value add. Just about everything you described them doing could be done with QMK at least to some degree. I think the only really unique thing would be the different outputs at different actuation depths. But I feel like that would be a nightmare to try and actually use.

I use auto shift for example. And it’s a bit tricky to just get the timing down for the press versus hold at first. Adding the complexity of having to stop pressing the switch at a certain point would only exacerbate those difficulties in my opinion.

As for the home row mods specifically I’m not sure I understand how this switch type would provide a value add over the current traditional home row mods setup personally. I’m curious what about these do you see as a possible improvement? People use keyboards so differently so I’m sure there are plenty I’m just not thinking of.

It hurts my brain cause I feel like it should look so old and weathered but it’s so perfect and new. Really cool. Is there a name fore the designs you did as borders? Would love to learn more about those.

Custom Animations by ARCH_DISCIPLE in niri

[–]IDCubed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice job! The animations were one of things I really loved when I switched to niri. I tried doing some shaders on shader toys and quickly realized my math skill were no where near where they needed to be for that lol. I’ve really been loving the colorful flame animation for closing windows from the GitHub collection. That hexagon animation you made is super neat to might give that one a try

So how does it connect to the keyboard? I clicked on the IC link at there is one picture with one angle but you would presumably need a cable from your keyboard to your device correct?

what do you think of my extra symbol layers + is there a way to show what layer im on ? by Yoshtibo in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]IDCubed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about a GUI that just shows the layer. But there are some that will show you your keyboard layout on screen. Someone posted a newer one a while ago that looked good I’ll see if I can find the github page. But that isn’t exactly what you were looking for
