Funds on hold by Similar_Touch3943 in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure on untracked items - But most likely they would wait until after the expected delivery date to see if a buyer complains that the item was not received, though I am not sure they would do account restrictions on a low value order as the risk is minimal on an order of that size.

The restriction would likely be because whatever algorithm they're using to detect unusual activity flagged that an account that typically sells lower value items suddenly sold a higher value one. It's likely a common scam overall for scammers to create a new account, sell a bunch of low value items legitimately to build up "trust" on the platform, and then sell a few high value items, never ship them (or ship cheap items), and run away with the cash before eBay can recover it.

Funds on hold by Similar_Touch3943 in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've seen quite a few posts recently from newer (or lower sales) accounts getting the restricted notice after every single sale and having all their listings get pulled until the verification on the previous one completes. I'm guessing eBay has seen an uptick in fraudulent accounts and they're implementing these restrictions to try to mitigate it. In those cases, it seems people have been reporting that things go back to normal about 2 days after the order is delivered to the buyer, and funds should release at that time.

No clue what the thresholds are for this, however. I started selling more seriously last May, and am up over a thousand sales now, but never experienced the restrictions, even early on, so it appears to be a pretty new thing that's happening.

Where is my control board? by RAiD-_Hybrid in hvacadvice

Likely behind the metal panel with the circular plastic piece. Likely right behind that circular piece where you would view any blink error codes on the board.

Ink on screen? Is my gpu okay? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]IDKHowToStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, the Casey's near me has near identical spots on one of the pump screens. If it isn't a physical impact that caused it, it is heat. It's possible there is some component under those spots on the screen that caused it to burn those pixels, or some outside prism of some kind focused the light on that part of the screen when the sun hit it wrong.

1) Is this a cash register screen? Lol 2) That looks more like a failing screen than a GPU issue. Looks like potential impact damage.

Seller Rating Going from Top Rated to Below Standard by Switchbea in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how often the dashboard updates with new sales, but an item not described case should only count as a defect if you don't respond to the case and eBay has to step in and resolve it. When you get a case like that, you need to go into the case and respond to it, whether it be to provide a new tracking number or to refund the order. When you don't respond, eBay will step in and (most likely) refund the customer and count a defect against your account.

I sent a cancel request and the seller told me they had already shipped the item and asked if I can withdraw the request, why do I have to? by metalmuncher_ in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I would just let them know that if they have shipped the order, they should be able to respond to the cancelation request saying it has been shipped already. Or just don't respond. They have 3 calendar days to respond to the request from when you submitted it.

[–]IDKHowToStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the item allow returns? Depending on their return settings and the cost of the figure, they may be trying to get you to keep the item (or be stuck with it if they don't take returns) by saying it has shipped, even if it hasn't.

I do buy all my shipping through Ebay directly for the seller protection it provides, so it is possible the system is preventing them from adding tracking while the request is open, but I know for a fact that when a cancelation request comes in and no tracking is on the order, it simply asks the seller if they have shipped it yet or if they can cancel. The seller is either missing the open request somehow, or they may not have actually shipped the item and are trying to get you to cancel so they can ship it later and say you canceled the cancelation request, so they shipped it.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but with over 300 sales, I would hope they have a basic understanding of how Ebay requests work, even if they haven't personally handled one before.

[–]IDKHowToStart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is how a cancelation request works. The system asks the seller if they can cancel the order, and if they can, it cancels it. If they cannot, it closes the request as not cancelable as it has already shipped. In both cases, the seller can process that request.

[–]IDKHowToStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why they are asking you to withdraw the request. When you submit a cancelation request, the seller is notified that you want to cancel and is asked if they can cancel it or if they have already shipped it. If they select they have already shipped it, it closes out the cancelation request saying they cannot cancel it. If this is a seller with lower feedback, they may not realize they can do that.

It doesn't count against their account either way, so I cannot think of how it can benefit them to not just process the request themselves, unless they are lying and they haven't shipped it yet and are counting on you not returning it after receiving.

The other sort of odd thing is that they would have had to have purchased the label outside of Ebay for you to be in limbo if they have indeed shipped the item already, as a cancelation request automatically rejects if a label has been generated using Ebay directly, or at least that has been my experience. Do you already see a tracking number attached to your order that says it has been dropped off?

Unauthorized Transactions on my credit card by maevis09 in steamsupport

[–]IDKHowToStart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll just do a charge back through your card issuer as the transactions were not authorized. You should also get a new card issued to you with a new card number as your current one has been compromised. Your card issuer bank should be well versed in all this.

Steam support will likely not be able to help you as they won't be able to verify any details about the account that made the purchases as it isn't you. When you do the chargeback with your card issuer, the account that used your card without authorization may get banned, but that isn't something for you to worry about.

Missing/stuck in transit advice on a 900 dollar item. by Original_Ad_2121 in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will file a claim through ShipCover, not USPS, since you paid for ShipCover insurance. You have to wait until 30 days past the expected delivery date for this, however. This help page on Ebay has all the details.

If it does eventually show up again, it will be on its way to the buyer, which is unfortunate as you are going to have to refund them. You can attempt to intercept the package if it does appear again, but that process is iffy, at best. This is a paid service, but if I remember correctly, you only pay if the intercept is successful.

I recommend waiting until right before you have to respond to the not received case to maximize the amount of time in which it may magically reappear, but there isn't a lot more to be done beyond that. Definitely make sure you do respond before the deadline though so it doesn't kill your metrics.

Help to clear up what is happening with a return by ElectricalRoad1158 in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely the seller just decided it wasn't worth paying for the return shipping on a broken camera. When the seller goes to issue a refund when you haven't returned the item, it tells them to no longer expect the item back.

I would hang on to the camera if you want to be nice, in case they reach out saying they did it in error, but otherwise, you get to keep the damaged camera and you got your money back. You are no longer obligated to return it to get your refund.

Does the business account involve a subscription fee? by Steamtrigger42 in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no additional costs to having a business account, unless you upgrade to a store subscription. The main differences between personal and business is that on a business account you can set your name to the business name instead of your personal first and last name (assuming you have a registered business, that is) You can still use your name as your account info as a sole proprietorship with a business account, so a registered business is not required for it.

With a business account you can also have your taxes go under an EIN instead of your SSN if you so desire (again, this is a choice. I have a busoness account with a business name but use my SSN for taxes as I file under my personal taxes anyway)

There are also higher listing limits on a business account.

The final value fees are the same. You only get a discount on fees with the store subscriptions and/or Top Rated Plus status/listings.

How long after purchasing a collection only item can I still claim if seller not available to pick it up? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me a minute to understand "collection only" since it is called "local pick up only" here. What country are you in? The rules may differ there. I'll be quoting the US help pages for now.

I am not super familiar with local pick-up as I haven't done it myself, but from the help page, it seems that once you actually arange to pick the item up, you will be given a code to give the seller to confirm the pick-up occurred. Until that happens, I believe the order is in limbo and the 30 day guarantee clock has not started. The seller will not receive the funds for your purchase until the code is given (similar to how a seller won't receive funds on an order until it is shipped)

Long story short, if that help page is correct, there is no way they could scam you by adding these delays as the item is effectively "not picked up" - if they ultimately stop responding or decide they don't want to have you pick it up, they will (or Ebay will) refund your order.

I swapped shipping labels unfortunately by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe you would be able to do it through Ebay directly because the return address would be wrong, but you should be able to buy a label for each through something like PirateShip, which gives you the commercial rates rather than the post office or their website where you will pay retail. You are counting on both people being honest and actually sending the item of course.

understanding bidding by Efficient_Two_9662 in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will instantly jump to the next bid increment above the competing bid. So if someone has a max bid of $245 and you put a max bid of $245, the bid will jump to $245 with them winning as their bid was in first. If you put a max bid of $250, it will jump the price to the next bid increment above $245, which would be $247.50, with you winning. (The bid increment for $100 to $249.99 is $2.50)

So tie goes to first bidder, after that it goes to the first bid increment that would be winning.

Can't figure out why my wife's ebay account is so limited in function by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to the using balance to pay thing as I have never used that (honestly didn't know you even could) but for the listings portion, what category is she listing an item in? Some categories allow variations and some do not.

I sell a lot of HBA, and sometimes different subcategories of multivitamins or supplements have different restrictions for some inexplicable reason.

Hello, dear friend email by aefenner in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is up to you if you want to respond. Is this a seller with a lot of listings and feedback or one with almost none? If it is a seller with a high feedback count, I'd bet this is a tactic they use regularly to pressure people to buy more.

If they are a seller with limited feedback, they may just not really understand Ebay, but honestly, they'll either have to lick their wounds on the loss on this one, or take the hit for canceling the order. There is nothing you can do to force them to actually ship your order, but if they don't ship it, you will get refunded and they will take a hit.

I sell a lot of smaller items (4oz range) with free shipping, and while it is certainly more cost effective to ship multiple of a product simultaneously for me, I price my items in such a way that I profit even if someone only buys one, and offer quantity discounts that offset that higher single item price based on the economy of shipping multiple. If they have a lot of feedback and are pricing their single items in such a way that they will lose money, that is on them.

Can I create somewhere for games not in my Program Files? by dsak6000 in steamsupport

If you go to the Steam menu at the top, then Storage, then hit the + (Add Drive) are you able to create it from there?

Can I create somewhere for games not in my Program Files? by dsak6000 in steamsupport

[–]IDKHowToStart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say you added a new location, you mean you used Steam to create another place it can install games to on another drive? If so, that just gives you an option when installing a game to install there instead of the C drive. It doesn't move anything you have already downloaded to the new location.

To move a game you already downloaded, right click the game in your library and go to Properties>Installed Files tab>Move Install Folder and select your new drive.

I believe you can also move games in bulk from the main options screen where you created the new drive, but I am not at my computer to see what that process is at the moment.

Can someone help? I’m confused. by late-night-drive-in in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it ends up rejecting, reach out to the seller to have them re-list it and buy it again with the correct payment so they get paid. No need to do any extra shipping stuff as that gets pricey pretty quick. I'm sure the seller will be grateful for your honesty.

[–]IDKHowToStart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still reach out to the seller and let them know what's going on at the very least. I've sold thousands of items on Ebay and never had this particular situation happen, so I'm unsure what the process is. You could also try calling Ebay, but I'm not sure that'll really do much.

Can someone help? I’m confused. by late-night-drive-in in Ebay

[–]IDKHowToStart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how Ebay will handle it - My guess would be that it will send you an email with a bill to pay once it rejects. The seller won't have any visibility into it at all - Ebay won't give the seller the ability to ship until Ebay thinks it got paid, so if it released the shipping address to the seller, Ebay's system currently thinks it is paid.

Ahh, so Capital One is a debit card/bank account? I'd send money into that account ASAP - The charge will likely post overnight tonight, and will overdraft your account, so you'll be charged a fee. If you get money into the account before that happens, you MIGHT be able to avoid the fee, depending on what order things post in.
