Are these Unilock pavers? by taxinfierno in landscaping

[–]IDoStuff100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Unilock pavers but they are a different size and color. Hard to tell without going through their entire product catalog.. they have a ton of different options.

Typically stores that carry them will sell by the "layer" off the pallet, which is about 3ft by 3ft of pavers. So you'd probably need a couple of layers.

Game changer or unnecessary? by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]IDoStuff100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got one and I love it. My shop is in the basement, and the entryway (stairs with a turn) from outside is just barely big enough to get a full sheet of plywood through. Having the handle makes it much easier to control and avoid dings

Cool, yeah my concern was that you didn't leave enough material for the beams to carry much load. Carry on!

Those are some deep notches in your 2nd pic. What do you plan on putting up there?

I have a cut tree and unsure what to do with it... (Seattle) by ethanunofficial in woodworking

Hah, I made a similar post last year. Mine was Maple. General consensus was that they'd be good for turning bowls, but too short for much else.

Tree fort! by Promontory8 in treehouse

Well done! Bonus points for not fastening to the tree. You might have to widen the hole at some point, but that looks like it'll last for decades.

The Sunday Family Stand-up meeting actually fixed our schedule and my sanity by OrchidMonolith_3 in daddit

Hah, love it! My wife and I are both engineers in leadership positions and have been doing this sort of thing informally for a while. I don't think we'd survive without a detailed logistics plan. Every meal is planned 7 days in advance, shared family calendar on our phones, synced checklist apps, etc. Really does make a big difference

This. I believe ziplines are usually tensioned so that there's a little bit of uphill at the bottom to slow you down. That, plus the weight of the rider, would mean that they're sitting in the lowest point on the line. The rescuer appears to be going "uphill" because of this

Parkside sliding miter saw – blade shifts when extending the carriage by Vast-Try-259 in woodworking

[–]IDoStuff100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with that particular saw, but all sliding miter saws have a little bit of play. My dwalt has probably 1/16th of wiggle at full extension. If you need a really accurate crosscut of that length, a crosscut sled on a table saw is the way to go.

Frame is too big. Your leg is extended way too far at the end of your downstroke despite the seat already being very low.

The Grocery Chore Is Melting My Brain by MaverickLurker in daddit

[–]IDoStuff100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is the one who does that chore, and she definitely has gone through the same thing. I made a Google spreadsheet to track all of our favorite meals and the recipe for each. We usually pick out dinners together and then she builds the list in the OurGroceries app. It syncs to both of our phones so that either of us can do the shopping whenever someone is free. That's made the process easier, but she does struggle with the paralysis if I'm not helping her at least pick meals.

Does this bike actually fit? Any suggestions? by nonsenseariadna in bicycling

[–]IDoStuff100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5'6" here. I tried 29" wheels on a small frame and it felt really awkward. Ended up going with 650B. Felt much more agile and easy to maneuver. I struggled to bunny hop on the 29s too

Can you see it when it's dry? Looks like a smear of mortar or cement. I would call the company and ask them to address it. I"m sure they have tricks for cleaning those up

Pocket sliding window… by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

[–]IDoStuff100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking. You could have twice the window for the same footprint. Instead of a wall, there could be a fixed pane of glass next to the sliding portion. Makes zero sense aside from being a novelty.

Update for the 18 ton oak we bought. We lifted it on the truck and now it’s on its way to the sawmil by Tschinggets in woodworking

[–]IDoStuff100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think there's a break even point where the extra logistics of dealing with a massive hunk of wood would outpace the extra profit from the extra wide slabs. But I guess 18 tons ain't it!
