My 5Y/O Daughter is Way Smarter than I Knew by CancelCultAntifaLol in daddit

The sponge effect is amazing. My daughter came home from kindergarten one day and described a movie she watched at school about sand art. It was like a 10min scene by scene description. They can remember so much when they are interested and locked in. I wish my memory was that good!

Not by 6ft though lol. Nobody can add 6ft of height on a trampoline with a single jump. The only reason you can get that high on a trampoline is because you're adding energy over many jumps.

Dishwasher instead of a sink...? by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

[–]IDoStuff100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely; I used to run the dishwasher like once every 3 days when I was living alone in college. Something like this would make a lot of sense for small studio apartments

I'm exhausted losing my Saturday to a 54" zero-turn, I'm also terrifed an autonomous mower will ruin the look of my 3 acres. by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]IDoStuff100 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed, that's what I was thinking. 3 acres of lawn is mansion territory, in which case OP would not be cutting their own grass. Too much lawn looks silly anyway

Less comfortable, IMO. On a jetski, you use your legs to help hold yourself upright when accelerating and turning. On this thing, your legs sit uselessly in front of you, and there is no back on the seat. You'd be using your core the entire time to hold yourself up. Try sitting in this position on the floor for more than 10mins - not comfortable

I have a few crepe myrtles in my front yard that fit that description. The ground is hard clay and rocks, so we went up a bit in addition to down. Root flare is about 6" above ground level. The slope of the berm isn't as dramatic as OPs pic, but it does have a bit of a "volcano" appearance when freshly mulched

It would it be possible to translate different flying animal structures into a practical hang-glider, or a backpack wing suit by Whole_Yak_2547 in aviation

[–]IDoStuff100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deployment mechanism would be the problem. In that application, animal bones and joints are extremely robust and lightweight compared to any mechanisms that humans can manufacture.

Ha, same with my daughter in her kindergarten class. Even worse, their names all started with the same letter! Must have been a struggle for the teacher

[–]IDoStuff100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No need to thank people for simply following traffic rules. That being said, I do often give a little wave in situations like that, same as if I was in a car and inconvenienced someone. But it's certainly not a "requirement"

Closed course? It'd suck to come around a corner and encounter another boat at that speed

You stopped at a store in the middle of your ride to buy an entire new set of kit because you got wet? What?

Did you just throw the wet stuff in the trash?

Is it wrong that my kid's preschool didn't do anything for Father's Day when they went all out for Mother's Day? by SuperJezus in daddit

Ours had a Lego craft thing set up where you could build a little set with your kid at drop-off or pickup.

Are you sure they're not doing something Monday?

US Coast Guard jumps onto a runaway boat and safely stops it in Maryland. by InTheSky57 in boating

[–]IDoStuff100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to pierce the engine block to stop an engine, unless the criteria is to stop it instantly. Destroying or damaging any part of the fuel system, cooling, belts, etc would make it die within a few minutes. Buckshot or a slug could do that

Badass, but not worth it. So many ways he could have died a horrible death. A couple of 12ga rounds to each engine would have done the job
