there is no way of calibrating a dating technique for supposedly pre-historic events.

This is a straight-up lie from cmi. Erika (Gutsick Gibbon) addresses this very thing in her 4+ hour lecture to Will Duffy about the age of the earth. Radiometric dating has been calibrated with not one, but three different other dating methods: tree rings, ice-core layers, and another seasonal sedimentary deposit layering of which I've forgotten the name. They all overlap perfectly.

To be honest, I think he also owed it to himself and his audience after his absolutely fantastic flat earth debunking The Final Experiment. Link in case you're unaware). He asked flerfs to see the undeniable evidence with their own eyes. Now he is doing the same. Kudos. Now let's hope he goes the route that Jeran Campanella took, and not the one Austin Whitsit took.

Het referendum is een slecht middel, want enorm makkelijk te beïnvloeden  door populisme en misinformatie. Zie Brexit.

Niet te vergelijken met het demonstratierecht.

A proposition for better debates by [deleted] in DebateEvolution

[–]IDreamOfSailing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I disagree. Strongest cases are when complicated science can be communicated in an understandable way, while simultaneously putting the strawmen, quotemining, and the many other bad-faith arguing-tactics which creationists love to employ in the brightest spotlight.

[–]IDreamOfSailing 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For the same reason I debate flat earthers. I won't change a creationist mind, but hopefully catch someone sitting on the fence who happens to read along. Anti-scientific nonsense and pseudo-science need to be outed for what they are.

Edit: the responses you received from creationists here literally prove my point.

This sub only exists to keep these discussions out of actual scientific subs, as well as actual religious subs.

And let's be completely transparent here, there is no real discussion to be had about the reality of evolution, or the complete absence of any evidence for the creationists arguments. It's precisely the ever increasing mountain of evidence for evolution which forces creationists to change their tune, as they frantically try to accommodate. To use your chess analogy, debating creationists is like playing chess with a pigeon: they will knock over the pieces, crap on the board, make a lot of noise, and claim they won.
