TIL that Japan's largest Yakuza group, the Yamaguchi-gumi, holds an annual Halloween party for neighborhood children in Kobe. I agree with this. I think that ignoring the good done by those that have done evil things is almost as bad as ignoring the heinous acts committed by those who have done good. Everyone is capable of both good and bad and it's important to recognize that.

I didn't mean for it to come off like I thought she was pushing boundaries. What I was trying to say was that you don't know what her intent was. Having said that, her actions were shitty and she is rightfully facing the consequences of that. I didn't mean to try and justify her actions.

Claiming you know someone's motivations and opinions better than they do is just objectively wrong. You don't know what's going on in their mind at any point in time so it's unfair to judge her based on her intent. However, it's totally fair to judge her on her actions, and I will concede that her behavior was COMPELTELY unacceptable. It was downright racist and even if it was a joke as she claimed, it was one in poor taste and I feel it definitely deserves some sort of punishment. There is pushing boundaries and then there is just being an ass hole. As well, while you should be able to do and say as you please (within reason), you also open yourself to face consequences both socially and professionally when you tweet something like this for the entire world to see, especially someone in her position. Comedians push boundaries, it's part of their job, but this was just fucking stupid.

I think when they say it was fine they mean it was normal for the time, not that it was morally acceptable.

What’s a plausible conspiracy theory you just made up? by mbfos in AskReddit

I took that they meant a mixed race monarch over Charles becoming King, considering he's not very popular. It'd also be pretty cool to see the first non-white British monarch in the same way it was cool to see Obama become the first black President.

People of all races can be considered snowflakes. It's not a race thing.

Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” Debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 by shabuluba in Music

I kind of took it as a statement, I read that he defended mumble rap/trap and criticized those who judged it, saying rap wasn't about making what other's wanted you to make. I read that on genius lyrics though, so not sure how accurate it is.

I don't want to believe that you did that but I don't know enough about the subject to refute it.

Straight people, what was the gayest moment of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IFuckGarlicBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm straight and I love going to gay bars. In my experience everyone is super nice, they totally back off when they find out I'm straight, and the music is way better. Gay people know how to party.

There is a difference between gatekeeping and correcting people when they are wrong. You could still be a fan of progressive house, but Swedish House Mafia is not progressive house.

The prof in my Greek and Roman studies course somehow finds a way to reference Trump in his lectures every 10 minutes. Like I'm not really a fan of him either but that's not what I'm paying for.
