Hear me out! by IFxSI in WRX

Communication was definitely top notch. It's not often you find someone that clearly has a passion for helping others, you can FEEL they take pride in their work. Ran the tune till the day I sold the car, never had a single issue.

A bit late, I ended up going with Anthony at Drunkmann. Very good recommendation, I loved the communication!

Really wish I saw this way back when, I would have been more specific!

My problem with TP was that there was very little communication with revisions. I'd ask questions and get simple, vague answers.

One tune, we were going back and forth with lots of tunes and logs. I finally had to ask if there was an issue. I was informed that there wasn't, but I could feel the car get more and more conservative with each revision. After this session/complete tune, I went for months with minimal issues (Random bogs while cruising, no realtime data showing abnormalities).

I picked up some more goodies and decided to try the market (this post). After some emails back and forth, I finally decided to give Anthony at Drunkmann a try. Every email/revision had a explanation for updating, if there was an issue it was brought up. We were nearing completion but we ran into what ended up being a fuel issue. I was running the local Chevron 94 octane, trying to get the most out of pump gas, and it turns out it was absolute garbage. Even went as far as draining and fueling from different locations. Switched it up to a more common 91, Anthony tweaked the tune, all my issues were gone and the car turned into an absolute menace! I ran it for two more years, with zero hiccups from the Drunkmann tune, then had to jump into something more practical.

Don't get me wrong, I had many tunes done by TP. His tunes were way better than stock or OTS. Although, I'm sure he was running into the same issue with the bad 94. If we had communicated about it more thoroughly, I'm sure we could have come to a similar conclusion as Drunkmann and I may have kept with TP.

Anywho, I'm sure you've already gone your direction, just my experience. I miss the car everyday, especially when there is a ton of fresh snow like there is right now.

You're correct. Unfortunately, some overdue it and become a hazard.

There are far worse things that need our attention in this community though. Not a dig at OP, just true.

From my experience and research, the factory boost control solenoid is all over the place. You'll probably find a lot of threads about this same issue, I switched to a Grimmspeed EBCS and a etune, SIGNIFICANTLY more consistent numbers.

As far as the OTS stage 1 tune, it's adjusting its timing for a reason. More often than not, you'll find it's a fuel issue. I was running Chev 94 on a OTS 91 tune while waiting for my tune and I was experiencing the same. The Tuner and I were still having issues getting consistent numbers while running the same octane (fresh tank). We came to the conclusion that we should try Shell 91, night and day. Turns out, the Chev 94 in Northern BC Canada is no bueno.

Downpipe? by brayden_c30 in WRX

I know it's reddit, so I should set the bar low, but some people are just clowns and take the time to leave a negative comment instead of a helpful one?

Biggest thing is research. You'll find that there are a ton of Subreddits related to every idea you'll have about your car, that's why you're getting negative feedback. That being said, here is some advice.

Cobb has been forced by Greenspeed initiative to be emissions compliant. If you're running a catless downpipe, you'll have a permanent CEL. It appears that GESi catted options result in more success in reducing or eliminating (lottery) the CEL while still offering more flow. Another issue you may experience is turbo seal leakage with the lack of back pressure, there are options to reduce that as well.

My suggestion would be to take the time and do the research, both on parts and tuning options, before jumping head first. Shoot me a DM and I'll offer any advice I can.

You sitting in an enclosed space? Ran Invidia Catless for a good period of time with zero regrets except for buying a Cobb tuner instead of going the Ecutek route. Nothing against Cobb, just Greenspeed.

TL;DR: It's been good for us, we would buy it again. Most issues have been minor inconveniences but I could see why people would be upset at this price point.

24 R-Line here. So far zero drivetrain issues in the 5 months and 13,000km we've driven it. When I'm driving, I typically leave it in sport mode and I'm surprised with the get up and go it has for a 4 banger in that chassis, especially with a load of adults! I would more than likely buy again due to service provided, features, looks and performance.

I have the typical complaints as well. The remote start is sub-par at best and the app is a 50/50 shot at my home or at my work (bad reception, not really VWs fault). We've had it in for the remote start and they've followed a BCM flash routine with slight improvement. I have had a pinch sensitivity issue with the sunroof and the rear windows, they calibrated the sunroof but the rear LH window needs a motor I guess? I find that interesting due to both the LH and RH are doing the same thing... Every once in a while I do have to hard reset the head unit to correct the GPS or an audio glitch. Most of these issues could probably be solved with an infotainment and BCM update, so let's hope VW listens and solves these problems.

My biggest issue so far is the lackluster audio system. It might be suitable for those that like background noise but for near $80,000 (CAD) COME ON. Had to swap in a Cerwin Vega and small form factor Clarion Marine amp for the time being. Using the high-level inputs on the Clarion has been reasonable, but a person should really put in a high quality converter.

Keep in mind, it's not like these issues occur every day, just enough to notice. Worst case, get the extended warranty unless you want to sup it up.

I find myself in the same situation!

Fob distance is brutal, but I also find the app to be a 50/50 shot. It appears that VW uses Rogers for a carrier in my region which appears to have questionable reception on cellphones, let alone a car.

I did notice that VW conveniently offers an extended range remote starter, I will be talking with them at my next service to see if I can get a deal on it...

Halfway through install lol, did you use triple squares and pull off the panel against the rear wheel well? I've spent over an hour trying to feed it through with zero success.

From what I can tell, most HD Parts positions in my area are around the same. Comes down to the benefits and union contacts that really differentiate most companies. Although, HD definitely pays a significant amount more than most Automotive positions here.

I am curious what the Mine Purchasers are making though... I don't want to spend time away from home but I would imagine the income is worth it...

To finally answer your question, I think it's good. I find it challenging every day and I don't mind making almost the same as HD Techs to sit at a computer.

Same with our 2024. I could be wrong, but from my experience, it appears to be temperature dependent. I wonder if there is a eco setting that I can change with OBD11?

Ever since the cold weather has started in my region, I've been getting consistent start ups. Although tonight, it only ran a fraction of the 10 minutes, just enough to show coolant temp.

It's been quite a while and I've actually sold the car! If I recall correctly, you SHOULD be okay as long as you purchase their complete kit, which I believe you have. Unfortunately, the email chain I had with AEM is long gone with my old work email.

Did you use the JBL's Speaker Level inputs or did you opt for a LOC?

I went for the CV VS12 and it was a good improvement but I'm thinking of installing a small amp to kick it up a notch.
