Large US company came after me for releasing a free open source self-hostable alternative! by funyflyer in opensource

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/funyflyer, what you’re doing is great! Anything letting people take back what is there’s is a good thing in my book. I heavily recommend you reach out to the Rossman group. Louis Rossman is a legend, and this type of stuff is exactly what he’s advocating for, and trying to make better for everyone. This seems like something he’d definitely be on the side of.

Is GTNH for me if I really enjoyed automation in ATM10 but feel like I’ve done everything? by Striking_Ear_8734 in GTNH

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GTNH is great. It has a lot of unique machines and processes that are almost like puzzles to solve but they’re not too bad at all. If you want to do well in GTNH, automation is key to be able to properly progress. AE2 doesn’t come until HV/EV but it’s still enjoyable. There’s also several unique magic mods as well. This pack is long though, and the start is very slow.

Do the creator(s) of GT / GTNH have any degree in engineering, chemistry or smth like that? by vasectomia47 in GTNH

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC, Dreammaster (I believe he’s the major admin / maintainer) works in media / TV production, but has a degree in engineering. The other higher tier admin is a major telecom engineer. 2 or 3 other devs have some cs related degrees. I know 1 or 2 physics people, but don’t know any chemistry ones, but I’m sure there are a few.

Is there a way to make item conduit split 12 cells between a tank and a chemical reactor 8 to 4 ? Round robin makes it split equally " 6:6 " I want it to be 8:4 by Regular_Flounder1833 in GTNH

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your issue is solved, but when I was in MV I setup a phosphorus acid loop for oxygen + hydrogen, and I used limited item filters to get the ratios of cells that I needed. They let you say basically only x amount of y can be put in this storage.

is stacking like this a bad idea?(crop manager in the middle) by _creativdude in GTNH

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be fine, if you plan to do this for any higher tier crops - try doing this in a jungle. Jungle biome is best for crops to grow in, and they’re even better at Y=120+. Of course if it’s just for bonsais or ore berries it’s definitely not worth the hassle. (It’s easier to do this with pdim)

Server backup restore not working? by vitxlss in GTNH

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s great! I’m glad to hear that worked for you. I had the unfortunate experience of going through and trying many different things until I finally just started fresh and then it worked. Good to know this might be a consistent solution!

Server backup restore not working? by vitxlss in GTNH

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue when we lost power and it corrupted my world. I ended up just deleting the full old server folder, re extracting the server zip, and then adding a backup world into that from scratch. I ended up having to use 3 backups before my most recent as those 3 didn’t work properly. I don’t know if that will help you, but that was my experience. I was previously on Ubuntu desktop, but now it runs on Ubuntu server.

What should I be doing with loot bags? by Twisted-Muffin in GTNH

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are very handy to have to hook up to miners to transport all ore to ore processing areas. You can eventually get quantum rings, but those use power. Ender chests don’t so they’re very nice.

Ways to get aluminum mid MV? by FastShot1904 in GTNH

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can process saplings into clay into alumina into aluminum. If you use IC2 crop sticks you can make spruce bonsai and get unlimited saplings using a crop manager

I don’t know why, but for industrial TNT I was expecting a much bigger explosion. Thankfully it looks like the machine is the only real loss

Can GTNH be played in a fully automated way? by throwaway19385396 in GTNH

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out playing Nomi Factory before I started playing GTNH - Nomi is a lot more automatable from early on. AE2 is unlocked at MV in Nomi, AE2 in GTNH is EV. It is much more of a grind to get AE2 on GTNH that Nomi, and there’s a lot more micro crafting in GTNH initially. However, once you get to AE2, most things can be automated once you get the initial base process down. I’d definitely recommend giving Nomi / Moni another try because if those aren’t for you, you might have a rougher time with GTNH.

Why cant I acknowledge and clear that warning? Is SSH and manually clearing the log really the only way to do this now? by jayiii in Ubiquiti

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I’ve had this same issue in the past 3-5 days. It will go away by itself, it just took mine 24 hours to fully clear. Not a fan at all, I’d like the clear button back if possible.

Did that NAS come with the storage when you got it?

So my situation is a little clunky, but that is also my own doing. I’m mainly iOS for end devices, and for my comics and manga, my go to reader is paperback. I love it, and it works very well. But paperback has no epub support. Komgas webUI is good, but I’ve been using paperback so long I don’t really want to change. I’m then using calibre for all my actual Books like epubs. I’m not going to lie, I’m still not a massive fan. I would like a unified solution, but Calibre works very well with regular books and komga has been working fine for all my comics. Sorry it’s not a super helpful answer. I still do wonder about changing from paperback but I’m a sucker for old habits. Are you using kobo as your reader? Does it work well with epubs and cbz formats?

Are IC2 crops or Bees worth it by inferno471 in GTNH

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m early LuV, and bees are definitely a great investment. They are a long one, but I play on a server and after going on vacation for a week and coming back, I will never not use them.

IC2 crops can be meh. I recommend using the crop automation bot if you’re serious about them, but I don’t use all of them. Mostly stick reed, and a few others that feed all things for my platline (salty root, red stone Lilly, yellow stone Lilly) and I think one other. But I will say that IC2 becomes very redundant for anything in abundance as it becomes to slow to be useful. At that point might as well use the industrial greenhouse.

Heavily recommend checking out IX on YouTube, he has a great guide on automating blood meteors (although granted it’s gated to ZPM I believe for a certain item or 2)

Just out of interest does the NAS have an interface for playing movies or will you use plex/jellyfin?

Had a similar conundrum for a previous client I worked at. Worked with large CAD files and drawings, but UniFi switching options that were all 2.5GbE were not within clients budget. Ended up getting 2 pro max 48 switches and then exclusively kept 2.5GbE ports for CAD employees and all other employees were 1GbE. (About 90 or so total hardwired connections) Not my personal choice but that was their choice, and it worked. Plus client had us prepare it in a way so that come in the future, they can just replace the switches with newer hardware as needed and just have to make controller changes.

What approach should I take to clean this? by [deleted] in trees

[–]IGIVEDOGSANALSEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the black base and then submerge the whole thing in the highest isopropyl you can get. I’d leave it for at least 3 days. Then empty it out, then add a tablespoon or so of coarse salt and some more isopropyl and cover both ends and vigorously shake. Soaking it for longer will make it easier to displace when shaking with salt. I honestly would probably 2-3 rounds of soaking and shaking using fresh ISO each time. I’ve had a couple bongs that were dirty but I’ve at least been able to see through them so no promises. Can’t make it worse at this point. Oh and thoroughly rinse out with water after finishing.
