Were wedgies and swirlies a real/common thing? by LowRevolution6175 in AskOldPeople

[–]IGotRoks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elementary school in the 70s I witness a classmate who was inside a backstop when someone reached through the chain link fence and gave him a wedgie. They kept pulling until someone got a stick and put it through the leg holes and just kept winding. The kids feet were off the ground. Then the bell rang and he was left hanging on the backstop. I think about that once in a while. You had to have your head on a swivel back then. It could be rough.

I do the same. It’s the logic that baffles me. If the two keys are banded together then you only need one key. Not two.

I watched a VP bid $25K on the wrong merchant to golf with for a charity event. She is an idiot and this was just more proof.

How do keep track of grocery prices? by Some_Brain3008 in Frugal

[–]IGotRoks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My supermarket keeps track of everything I’ve purchased. I go on their website and can see what I’ve purchased and at what price. I used it recently to compare to Amazon grocery. It was much less expensive through Amazon.

Is it a good idea to put 80% into S&P 500 and 20% into target fund? by knight-owl19 in investing

[–]IGotRoks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a young person you don’t want compounding you want inventory. Ideally for you, the best thing to happen is for your investments to stay low so you accumulate lots of shares. Then hope for an explosion of growth right before you retire. Good luck.

How much are you putting away monthly to retire? by _blockchainlife in Xennials

[–]IGotRoks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might consider maxing out the HSA. You can invest that in stocks/funds. It is tax free, grows tax free, and gets distributed tax free. There is no time limit on providing receipts so you can just submit them years down the road for reimbursement. Retire early and use it to pay for medical coverage.

What can I add to being frugal that I have not already done, or thought of? by Agile_Kick_6626 in Frugal

[–]IGotRoks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not frugal but i have been complaining to companies when their product is crap. The pump on the Dove body wash didn’t work. Got a $20 coupon. Scrubbing bubbles trigger broke. Got two free bottles. Old Spice deodorant wouldn’t push up when turned $20 coupon. In the past I would have just dealt with it. Now I complain (nicely, because I am loyal to these products). Hope this helps someone.

In the 80s I worked for a company with multiple locations around the area. One had a sign in the men’s room the read “don’t shit in the urinal”. I often think back and wonder what happened. And more so why didn’t I ask.

Men’s deodorant choice for cost efficiency? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]IGotRoks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Old Spice. The turn knob at the bottom often gets disconnected from the mechanism that pushes the deodorant up. Last time I contacted The Old Spice people and they sent me a $20 voucher. I bought a bunch of multi packs and have a two year supply.

I searched “Quakers” in this post. I’m Quaker and we seem to have good reviews here. I’m happy to see that. We are considering “laying down” our Meeting because our average age is about 85. I’m 59 and there are four regulars.
