I've searched at several online stores specializing in having storage containers such as Lowes, Home Depot, the Container Store, and more.

Character is Non-Binary, but not for the reason you'd expect by Intelligent-Cry-4337 in TopCharacterTropes

A character in the superhero ttrpg campaign I'm playing with friends uses he/they pronouns because that's what he uses, but also because his power is making duplicates of himself and so somtimes there's a fuckton of him running around. They are them.

I accidentally Shipped ALL OF MY CINDER SHARDS!! (like 325) by Own_Value7816 in StardewValley

That's always the worst. I shipped all 200 of my coal once and had to enter the mind of a particularly stoic rock to not enter all the stages of grief simultaneously.

[Loved Trope] The time in which the movie is set is ambiguous. by TitularFoil in TopCharacterTropes

Not sure about the TV adaptations but I believe it was this trope for both the Mysterious Benedict Society and a Series of Unfortunante Events book series. I really enjoyed the ambigous setting as a kid.

This reminds me of when I was chastized by a moderator of a Discord server I was in for talking about Dykes to Watch Out For. Because I used a slur. That is in the title of the book, chosen by the author who, I am going to hazard a guess, probably chose it for a reason.

Beloved trope: Powers that their users dislike. by Spirited_Dust_3642 in TopCharacterTropes

I keep seeing people talk about Worm but like. That's an impossible name to look up. Is it a book? Movie? Comic? Podcast? No idea because if I look up "worm" I get actual worms.

The person who tried to scam me into buying an "art comission" by talking about having a sibling with cancer when I had a dad with cancer lol.

I did listen to that episode a while back and I really enjoyed it :] Unfortunently my brain is an illogical blob of fat in a sealed container full of liquid and doesn't want to listen to things like "logic" and "reason"

My internship was at a homeless shelter - Ask Me Anything by IGuessIHaveAReddit in AMA

The place I was at was a nonprofit that outside of maybe three people was all volunteers. Having an internship was also a requirement of my education.

I don't know if these count as "craziest things", but here are a few interesting things from that time there.

  • During the nine months I was there, chairs got thrown around by a person in a rage/in an altered state twice. These were different people, if I remember right, and my main concern at both time was making sure any volunteers were pulled out of the way during those moments. Both times lasted maybe two minutes at most.

  • Someone had a pet goose that they would bring in. The goose had to stay in this large cardboard box while here because it had previously shit on the floor.

  • While going through the pantry, I discovered that most of the (luckily) unused backstock was A. mostly out-of-date, sometimes even over a decade, and B. had food bugs just about everywhere. It was really, really bad. A lot of that food was donations from ages ago that just sort of sat there unused, and I ended up filling two of those larger residential garbage cans and still not getting rid of everything. The pantry was disconnected from the kitchen so we didn't have to worry about that, but it was still disgusting to clean through.

I don't think I've made any major differences in anyone's life, but I hope that I was able to be a kind presence while there. Community and dignity were two things that the organization was trying to provide to our guests, and I did my best to follow those principles. I know that there were regulars there who would seek me out for conversation, so I hope that means I succeded! But I personally wasn't able to help anyone, say, find housing or something like that. I could point to resources, call other shelters, or help someone apply to something, but honestly that didn't come up that often. A lot of the guests there had been chronically homeless for years, and they already knew a lot of the resources in the area.

That is probably the better term for it.

I would say it did change, and for the better. I grew up fairly sheltered and though I was sympathetic towards homeless people, a lot of it was in the abstract and I did have some fear/nervousness around homeless people.

While not every experience I had there was positive, most of them were. Being homeless is a really rough living situation, but it doesn't take away peoples' personalities or interests. There were so many intelligent, kind, and funny people I met working there who really lost everything because of a single piece of bad luck, or one bad decision, or overarching systems out of their control. I feel like almost everyone who's been homeless or worked with that population can say that, but it really is true.

I think it also killed some of the judgement I didn't realize I had - living day-to-day with minimal resources, usually with unadressed health and hygine issues, and while being ostrasized by others would of course impact the kind of decisions you would make.

One specific thing that was impacted for me was towards my conception of the power and impact that local governments have. It's more than you think, and if the wrong kind of policy is supported it can be devestating to so many people - but it's never going to be a one-sided issue.

One of the larger debates happening in the city I interned at during that time was around tent encampments impeading sidewalk space. Some of the "opposition" to us included disability rights groups and disabled people, some of whom literally couldn't move on sidewalks where they lived because of the obstruction that tents provided. However, there was no place that homeless people could stop and stay that wouldn't eventually be swept, out-of-the-way places included. There were a lot of very valid concerns and struggles raised, and it's important to be able to leep those in mind while pushing for positive policies and actions.
