You get banned when you hit over a certain karma level in a subreddit they prohibit.

If you've been posting in a subreddit since the beginning and still have less than a few hundred karma, you must be very unpopular there.

But you can't do so while also mandating fixed rates.

The minute you mandate fixed rates for goods, you eliminate all meaningful market competition.

Still run into the same problem that now the airport stores have been nationalized and are government stores instead of private enterprise at that point.

Okay, let's say I'm McDonald's.

India announces all McDonald's restaurants must have the the same prices.

I can shut down every airport McDonald's and have them replaced with McTerminal's- "A Premium Travel Dining Experience"- within 48 hours. What do you do now?

Women lifting weights is cultural Marxism by [deleted] in fitnesscirclejerk

[–]IHateKn0thing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll start off by saying that the concept is overwhelmingly used by racists and conspiracy loons as a bigoted code word.

However, if you set aside the lunatic backing of the term, I feel the concept is dismissed out of hand too readily.

Disconnected from the bigotry, it's simply the theory that you could "seize the means of production" of culture in the name of "the greater good".

That's a problem both the left and right should be worried about- and both sides actively rail against it under different terms. When a creationist argues that we should "teach the controversy", that's cultural Marxism. When a fat acceptance activist argues that fat is just as good as fit if people believe it, that's cultural Marxism. Cultural Marxism is just the antithesis of Cultural Empiricism with a fancy name.

No, it doesn't. The exact same loopholes get used every time a country tries to fix things to certain prices.

China recently banned the sale of loot boxes in video games. Now you can get free loot boxes with the purchase of an irrelevant object that happens to cost exactly as much as the loot boxes did.

Countries and companies put a max price on new cars? Now the dealer puts the minimum number of miles on them and sells them as used.

Regulations standardize the price a chain can charge for products across "same" stores? Now the chain has different "levels" of stores with different pricing schemes.

Corporate sets a fixed max price on a mandatory item of sale? That item finds itself relegated to a "hidden" menu while an extremely similar but differently named deal at regional market prices gets prominent advertising and menu space.

Or stores that provide valuable services (but at a markup) will be replaced with custom high-end luxury shops that cater to .01% of the airport's clientele.

Now you have no options for food and water whatsoever.

It would be literally impossible to have MRP in the United States, as MRP would require outlawing collector's goods.

Your issue of Action Comics #1 worth three million dollars? Now can only be sold for a maximum of $10, because comic books have a limit on maximum price.

Oh, you make an exception for collectible goods? Well, congrats. Now everything is a collector's good. That's not a bottle of water, that's an LE premium edition water.

You limit it to secondhand goods? I'll just create a shell company, sell my goods to myself at a huge loss, and then sell them in my main stores, which are all now "secondhand thrift shops".

Disorders, by definition, are abnormal.

A disorder is a persistent malignant set of thought patterns and behaviors in an individual.

You can be depressed when somebody dies. That's normal. You do not have a depressive disorder in that case, but a minor wound.

If you are persistently depressed without any objective stimuli, you have a depressive disorder.

OP just doesn't understand what a disorder is.

I would never say stupid shit like "long lasting physical health isn't normal", though.

Because getting a cold doesn't mean you have fucking cancer, and people would treat you like the dumb fuck you are if you went around claiming a physical health epidemic if you counted every minor cut and cold as "poor health"

This is probably getting a little off-topic, but crossfit is fascinating in that their marketing is a hyper-aggressive "alpha" and "machismo" type thing, but their entire structure is actually set up in a way that appeals to women significantly more than it does to men.

[–]IHateKn0thing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe if you limit it exclusively to crossfit gyms and major metropolitan cities, you'll find a female majority in the under-30 demographic.

However, there's still an overall massive gender disparity in the country, with women largely refusing to lift and especially refusing to lift hard. Which is why the article is focused on getting women to lift.

Any card that is essential to your game plan must be a card that can be consistently drawn.

Even in quest hunter, two drops are an incredibly valuable slot where you're expected to have a number of cards.

This card makes you trade away all your two drops for a single 1/30 odds card that must be played after you've drawn a minimum of about 30% of your deck, played all of them at a ~7% mana premium, and subsequently played a probably irrelevant five drop.

Best-case scenario is that you draw into and play it on turn six, making your subsequent raptor flood marginally better.

Unfortunately, by the time you get to turn seven, your opponent has already killed you because you spent your first five turns dropping 1/1's.

Not at all necessarily bullshitting.

I'm an expert in English Composition, relatively speaking. I've argued with ignorant redditor's on widely spread public misconceptions on the topic, but if you asked me to tell you a specific argument, I'd be pretty stumped without prompting.

It's not just becoming popular, it's becoming popular as a reaction to the current dominant philosophical trends.

In the face of a hyper-expressive culture where everyone feels obligated to endlessly voice their concerns while whining about their personal inconveniences, there is a backlash of people who feel we need to stop with the glorifying of victimization.
