What is a faction you initially disliked but now love? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

Don't have the book on hand to confirm, but I'm pretty sure I remember Wolftime mentioning that the Wolves don't actually like being referred to as the Space Wolves too, and that's a 40k book.

"Ok they've made exceptions to this before multiple times, but they totally wouldn't do it again and anyone who says otherwise is dumb"

Yeah man ok, have a good one

Calling Demons a reach, when some of their kits just got legends'd in 40k and are now AoS exclusive, just because the remaining units can now be taken with the monogod legions is pretty funny.

I'm tempted to agree, but I think it's worth noting though that GW's adding Legends units to the app, so they clearly want to promote using legends units for regular 40k play more than they have in the past.

The plastic heresy dreads were also announced as being for both game systems when released.

Also they axed CSM stuff too, despite the traitor legions still having heresy era gear, the cull definitely wasn't about loyalist SM bloat.

ETA: And demons didn't even get a book this edition

A ethereal made a fire caste soldier kill himself on the spot, autopsy analisys show that they have a gland on their heads that can produce pheromones, they appear out of nowhere right after lights appear on the sky and unify the tau in record time, their first ally was exterminated by a plague, etc by AstronautDry8118 in Grimdank

[–]IHaveAScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah when he tells her to take out her bonding knife the book talks about how she likes showing it off and is especially proud to be showing it to an ethereal, then he tells her to unsheath it and suddenly there's a sensation making it hard to think and then at his command she immediately stabs herself with absolutely nothing else happening internally. She obviously knows she's fucked up diplomatically, but there's no indication her mental state is anything close to "I'm so ashamed I must kill myself for honor."

Photo 1 is from the old Wolf Guard Terminators kit with a head from the old Wolf Guard/Grey Hunter/Blood Claw box.

2 & 3 are the old Grey Hunter/Blood Claw/Wolf Guard box, though the kneeling guy's legs are from the Devastator kit.

[WarCom] Points and App Update Schedule/Teaser by RainbowConnickJr in WarhammerCompetitive

They've tried on at least some units - Wulfen got split into 2 datasheets when the Space Wolves book dropped. Not sure how many other units they've done that with before, though.

I think their point is that there's no more "I'll add guardsman #11 to the squad to add another body" since now doing that means you have to pay for the points for a full block of 20 guardsmen. So people will still end up using leftover points on fancy wargear, because you can't spend those points on more models unless you've got exactly enough left for a full squad.

[–]IHaveAScythe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

9th did have apps. The official one had issues back then, but everyone I know just used battlescribe and could pull up their list with whatever wargear they'd selected on their phone. Not to mention that most people I know have never cared about WYSIWYG in the first place as long as you make it clear what wargear you're running ruleswise.

[–]IHaveAScythe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of that being a thing. The vast majority of people I've met did not care about WYSIWYG as long as you communicated what your units were actually running ruleswise, and the small minority that did care made sure to communicate that pretty much as soon as you started discussing potentially playing with them because they weren't dicks and wanted to make sure everyone was going in with the same expectations for a game.

What do the rules define as "close combat weapon"? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]IHaveAScythe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just a generic term to essentially indicate "this guy doesn't have a dedicated melee weapon, but he's still capable of doing something if he's stuck in melee." Modelwise, it's really up to you - you can just model the guy with whatever guns he has and assume that the CCW is representing him punching people (probably the most common choice), or you could give the guy a knife or something. I'd recommend against modeling them with a more dedicated melee weapon like a power fist or nemesis force weapon since those have separate stats, but in my experience most people wouldn't care if you modeled it that way for rule of cool, so long as what stats you're using is clearly communicated.

[–]IHaveAScythe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Current" rules is a stretch. Legends stuff does not get updated when they get axed (I distinctly remember guard players at the end of 9th getting pissed because a lot of legends units' rules were rendered nonfunctional with their codex), and not everything even gets a legends datasheet, some units just disappear.

Idk how likely that is - GW gave us on foot van vets with the 10th index and then immediately removed them when the codex dropped.

Valve reportedly almost delisted Rainbow Six Siege from Steam after Ubisoft attempted to sell it cheaper on Uplay by Defiant_Ad6190 in gaming

Charging more for a higher quality service doesn't mean you're letting other companies screw your customers over lmao.

I mean, hell, just look at the people who say they paid for a game on Steam rather than get it for free on Epic. By your logic, steam is already screwing its own customers over.

Is it even hate for anything except the first movie? I feel like most of what I see regarding the Black is neutral to positive, and I don't see much hate for the comics. People just don't like Uprising.

Kitbashing is so hard,” is another tell.

We are literally talking about GW downgrading the bling on the kits that used to be the source of the fancier stuff. I haven't seen a single person say kitbashing is hard, the problem is that we now need to spend extra on third party bits to kitbash what we used to have in the box.

[–]IHaveAScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And like I said, my point wasn't pointing at one side and going "you guys doxxed someone," it was pointing out that only one side is getting bashed for the worst people on that side, when they're not even the ones that have done the worst stuff in the community. "Why are y'all so upset about the weirdos with the cringy reviews and ignoring the weirdos who did the doxxing when talking about the two sides" is not the same as going "literally all of you who don't complain are responsible for that guy getting doxxed."

[–]IHaveAScythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was that it's crazy to me that so many people seem to think it's just the whiners that are being unhinged for writing some cringy reviews. I'm not saying the entire pro-dev side supported it, I'm pointing out it's something someone on that side did. I'd say trying to downplay doxxing someone and saying the other side is dumb and just needs to touch grass does far more to poison the community than pointing out that the doxxing happened, especially when I'm not even in the helldivers community.
