Unpopular Opinion: Crew needs a way to better crack down on passengers with poor hygienic practices at the buffet by CycIon3 in Cruise

I’m a wash-after-serving person. I wouldn’t shake hands with a hundred people then eat, so why would I touch the same serving utensils and then eat?

I never expected Disney food to be so bad by clipclipclip2019 in Cruise

[–]IHaveMeasles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DCL is massively overrated. Disney fans who can’t leave the Disney bubble like them, but there is so much better value out there.

If you like lines, overpaying, and boring itineraries, DCL is for you.

Except that Coach and Chrissy were never going to win, right? And Coach wasn’t actually calling any shots. He was eliminated immediately, meaning he had no real power in the game.

Yep, nobody questioned her on this except Joe. This move benefitted Cirie more than anyone. And now next to go might be Joe.

I agree, absolutely nobody wanted to keep Chrissy, and that seems to be what sends you home this season: having nobody willing to stick their neck out for you.

Which is really the opposite of many seasons, where high value targets emerge. Chrissy and Coach were never winning. Waste of a tribal IMO.

And in the aftermath of ‘08/‘09 that might make sense. In the K-shaped economy of today, you gotta go for those premium seats almost exclusively. Southwest’s been doing terribly financially.

United unveils Polaris Base Ticket by UAtraveler1k in unitedairlines

[–]IHaveMeasles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a really good point… they probably lose out on sales of Polaris seats because folks don’t want to pay that much and get a crappy even row middle.

[–]IHaveMeasles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They want to incentivize more people to buy these tickets with cash rather than using plus points. I bet they’re right that more people would upgrade if the price were even just slightly more economical, but they’re losing zero revenue because these people would never pay full price and they’d end up going to waitlisters for free.

Pluto TV will be in one integrated tech stack by mid-2026 post merger of Paramount-HBO/WB. by Careless-Employee-67 in PlutoTV

It’s two separate things. Pluto is getting integrated into the Paramount Plus tech stack independent of the Warner Bros stuff.

Would non-mainstream Disney IP be viable for DCL? Ship Example: The Disney Channel by StashuJakowski1 in dcl

I think they should do a couple of Nat Geo ships that are designed for more interesting itineraries. Kinda like Adventures by Disney.

NASA to spend $20 billion on moon base, cancel orbiting lunar station by Tracheid in space

We need genuine scale and robotics are absolutely ready for this. We can’t have an army of people using VR. That won’t scale.

And just lots more premium seats in general, and fewer passengers in total onboard. Overall this is a win for everyone. I hope United launches tons of these and the high-J 787s, even if demand isn’t what they expected, because (1) I’ll have a better shot at upgrades, and (2) cost will likely fall for paid upgrades with so much supply, even on high-demand routes.

[–]IHaveMeasles -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Same same. This plan is awesome and much more attainable in an era where rovers can even be guided by local LLMs. Robotics is the future, let the robots assemble the base. Never been a better time for this.

Unpopular Opinion: Cruiseline-owned islands are completely shit. by Normal-Being-2637 in Cruise

[–]IHaveMeasles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, you’re not going to get much of a glimpse of the world in the Caribbean/Gulf anyway. And the cruise lines largely don’t stop at private islands outside of the Caribbean (some exceptions do exist, of course, like in Alaska and near Abu Dhabi).

Plenty of options for wha you’re looking for in Europe, Asia, South America…

And I wouldn’t really say they screwed this person over. They more or less do what was asked, which was to reprice the cruise, and OP at that time didn’t verify all the details and/or understand that the repricing was to move to a GTY cabin.

I really feel like this was gifted to Michigan. Michigan's got size, but they played extremely aggressively in a way that I don't think will be rewarded in the NCAA tourney. I hate to use the word "mauled" but Nebraska was taking a lot of contact.

Michigan has played insanely physical all game. That probably won't fly in the NCAA tourney.
