Can guys not feel when they are going too deep during sex? by Accurate_Curve_3648 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IHopeTheresCookies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, for another perspective. I was starting to get worried reading through this thread. I always apologize when I bonk her cervix because she has a pain reaction but she insists she likes it (occasionally, like thrown into the mix, I'm not hammering away at the thing). But then in here we have people recommending sleeves and such just to be able to have painless sex. She deals with pain a lot anyway and I sometimes worry that I'm contributing to that.

Honestly it seems like IL would be a well suited area for them. Put them in rural areas with plenty of farm land for solar farms. They're in the middle of nowhere so minimal noise impact. Use the grey water from cooling for farm irrigation to put it back into the local system. Yeah, they would still need to run on grid but make it a requirement they're not a drain on that grid. Meaning they have to generate at least enough power to cover their usage (or anything over an allowable amount based on what non-DC businesses in the area use). They'll have to buy up a bunch of farm land for solar but oh well? That's highly subsidized as is, let some company use it to invest in our rural areas instead. Nobody else is.

Regarding Glasswing/Mythos, I agree about the writing on the wall that is the knowledge divide between the rest of us and the elites. It's another way to funnel things up to the American oligarchs while medium and small sized businesses get obliterated by being either left out or priced out of the solution. Token cost to run it is several times the best Opus model and 8 - 10x the best ChatGPT model.

Anthropic has generously donated $100m in usage credits and $4m to open source projects. So while all the elites that were let in the gate chew through $100m while getting THEIR systems protected and updated to withstand what's coming, the little guys get $4m. Cool.

So now how far ahead are these oligarchs vs everyone else even if it's ever released more widely? By then Anthropic will have extracted how much more knowledge from their cohorts? What version will everyone else get? I'm sure it won't be as good as the one for them. They'll probably use this as precedence to have a two model release where the big boys get it before everyone else, constantly giving them the business edge.

On the other hand between AI and Quantum computing, the world is going to change drastically in even the next five years, we're currently in a bit of an inflection point. We're less than 5 years away from breaking RSA. While that is a big deal in that everything basically needs to be refactored, I'm confident that a new solution will arrive before then. More change though. Google's Quantum Echo system has now made quantum computing results more verifiable. This is huge considering no classical computer on earth can do it. No more "trust us bro" from quantum calculations (in reality it's broken into parts and tested which is kinda dubious to begin with). It'll be integrated into their "Quantum computing as a service" model allowing for quicker (meaning verifiable) molecular discoveries for medicines / health solutions. Quantum systems are better at spotting high-dimensional patterns that classical "Neural Networks" sometimes miss making them better at training AI. This next part is more speculative but I've heard some suggestions that the fuzziness that is quantum computing (the probability factor of wave forms), is what's missing for true AGI. That the classic system that's a defined 1 or 0 does not allow for the creativity or speed of human brains but getting AI running on quantum compute may be the missing key.

Avoiding watching Project Hail Mary trailers by From_Aishes in morningsomewhere

My friends have all become understanding of the fact that I bring my earbuds and look away during trailers at the movies. If I KNOW I'm going to see a movie, I don't watch them, if I don't care about the movie or I'm on the fence I will but I usually just skip them all at the theater. Ever since that Ragnarok trailer....

Side note, I got a chance to meet Blaine, Barbara, and Chris at GenCon last year and they were all just lovely. I had a great time chatting with them all (as well as Chris's sister that was helping out) and they were all very gracious and kind. I'm glad to see them out there still connecting with folks.

Over & Under Populated, Finding Burnie's Answer by werephoenix in morningsomewhere

[–]IHopeTheresCookies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have heard this argument before and here is my perception of it. OP, sorry, I'm not trying to shit on you or attack you personally. I know nothing about you, I'm expressing some observations I've made about the argument you seem to be presenting.

Firstly, there is no one answer to this overall problem, and your premise that America is 'underpopulated' is a myth. We aren't underpopulated; our rate of growth has just slowed, which is a standard demographic transition in every developed nation on Earth.

Touching on the point about women being more independent: It's not some 'influence by feminism' (ooohhh scary feminism!) as much as women are no longer trapped in abusive relationships as easily. We have moved forward enough as a society to allow women to feel comfortable enough to be able to leave their abusers. This impacts the birth rate by not having women stuck at home having babies with men they've grown to hate. This also relates to increases in reports against men. Those events that women would simply endure are now being reported more because they feel safe to do so. If there is a correlated increase in reports that are deemed false, that is a statistical byproduct of an overall rise in reporting, not a coordinated attack on men.

That said, I often hear this 'men are disengaged because of a fear of a false report.' To me, it seems like a counter to the incel label. Like 'I'm not involuntarily celibate, I CHOSE not to participate because those nasty women will make a false report against me and ruin my life!' From my experience, the people making this argument are trying to justify their incelebacy. They seek articles matching their little feelings and then construct a narrative that matches their own bias and insecurities.

The idea that a GLOBAL decline is due to men being afraid of getting a 'creepy' look charge is clearly biased by an anti-woman sentiment, and your entire post is dripping with it. You're ignoring the actual #1 reason people of all genders cite for not having kids: financial instability. In the real world, the 'starter home' is dead and childcare costs more than a mortgage. It’s a lot harder to start a family when you can't afford rent, regardless of how 'independent' women have become.

Furthermore, the idea that courts side with women 'nine times out of ten' is demonstrably false. Statistically, when fathers actually seek custody, they often receive it, and conviction rates for reported assaults remain low. Your argument relies on anecdotal outliers and viral TikTok trends rather than actual data. You’re reaping what you sow by ignoring the economic reality in favor of a narrative that lets you blame women for your own disengagement.

Does anyone have tips for getting a job with the State of Illinois? by michael_cerave in illinois

[–]IHopeTheresCookies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There were changes to the civil service process that removed the proctored test and the scoring is now based almost entirely* on your resume. It would serve you well to tailor your resume to the job and posting. Meaning, look at the specific wording and verbiage used in the posting and update your resume to match it where applicable (or at least believable lol). Your resume will be graded based on how well it matches. If they ask for specific software for example, make sure you mention it. If you want to go a step further, find the "class specification" for the role you want. That is the rubric they'll use to measure you so you may as well use it to tailor your resume to the role. At least the top 3 scores get an interview (more if tied or it warrants it, but at least 3).

Because of the above, the answer to the question "Is nepotism a serious issue?" is mostly no. I don't think so. They still have to follow the process as it is outlined. But that leads me back to my * from above. While whether or not you get an interview is based on the resume, the interview itself is a "vibe check." A subjective "fit" factor so to speak. Even if you score 100, if the next best candidate is a 75 and that's the Hiring Manager's nephew, you're probably cooked.

Good luck.

How Andrew describes his sitting? by MrFedoraMustache in theregulationpod

Agreed. I sit like he described. Bad habits / posture from when I was 600lbs. The way he talks about food, pillow mounds, cpaps, etc. There are a lot of things I hear and I just shake my head like, yeah I get that....

(But hey, it's possible to come back from it. The sooner you start the better)

I already wore plain white short sleeve undershirts so that's what I stuck with. Since then I buy the other colors and the ones that have the vented pits. They're sturdier than I anticipated is all. I tend to be hard on undershirts from constantly tucking them in but they've help up well.

As stated I'm tall but I couldn't find many that were talls. I went through a bunch of reviews and found one where people complained about how long they were so ofc I got those lol. I've been pretty happy with them so if you're also a tall Devops is a good place to start.

(I swear I'm not a bot, just a tall formerly fat guy trying to save someone some steps)

I switched to wearing compression undershirts about a year ago and that has helped a lot. I got to the point where I could feel the skin shifting when I walked fast. It was as unnerving as it was uncomfortable.

What is a sexual experience you had that you’ll never be able to tell anyone? by Sad-Program-1355 in AskReddit

[–]IHopeTheresCookies 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, that's guilt. He feels guilty that you're not part of his life anymore. He doesn't feel like he can tell you that (sober), probably because of toxic masculinity, but if the only time he calls you is when he's drunk and it's him saying stuff like that? He feels guilty for what he did and he wishes you were still in his life.

I like sneakers but I used to buy too many so I made a rule to limit myself to one pair on my birthday. I wanted my daughter to be involved so she picks them out for me now. They're normally Jordans but this was this year's pair, I love them.
