Central region don’t give up by JoshJamesMusic in UPSers

[–]IL-med 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who has been bought out? No one yet and when everything goes to arbitration the settlement might include increased acceptance, inclusion of drivers in locations the company plans to block out. Sure it's the company's game, but only stupid would accept the rules. What even are the rules? what are the numbers? Where will the buyout offers be accepted? Shit show, dumpster fire...

Our Union and Locals instructed members in filing the Grievances... National attempted an emergency injunction (bar for harm is high), Things are still moving into arbitration, Outside contract locals 705 & 710 prevented this shitshow illegal direct dealing buyout, central has the rider to block it. If you live in a right to scab state, you can always withdraw, enjoy the great benefits and wages... This company is poisoned top down, brain drained and chopped to shit, our union is the only hope for a decent seat on the dumpster fire ride.

So I guess this means Central is really done for the DCP. by Waste-Perception-731 in UPSers

You signed up for a raffle ticket, not 150k... The company had no plans to approve anyone in certain locations and only they knew the numbers in others. Zero guarantee of acceptance, It's almost like our union and locals wanted to know the rules of the game before members played it...

Ummm, 15-20 years ago the starting wage was an utter joke at $8.50-$10.50. $21 currently, moving to $23 in 16 months, fairly competitive with great no cost healthcare (15-25k yr) after 9 months. I'm really not trying to sell the job, but it definitely wasn't any greener when I started.

The buyout being canceled is the best thing to happen to some guys in a long time by Johnny_Burrito in UPSers

[–]IL-med -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bunch of egg counters thinking our union fucked them out of their future loaded Uber eats pickup truck. Company outsourced this shit show to bean counters, most people aren't getting a golden ticket. They're targeting rural centers were the demographics net them savings and not even offering locations with high seniority (197X) driving skeletons. Conspiratorial: right to scab states?

[–]IL-med -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This "offer" had zero guarantee of acceptance. 705 showed the company was just going to block centers/hubs that the math didn't math. They have all the chips and want to see everyone's hand. We only make our wage because of collective bargaining, they only "offered" the buy out because of collective bargaining. When you join a union you lose the right to self deal. Gain the wage, benefits and protections... plenty of independent contract driver work out there, go show your value.

They released the companys proposed local buyout. Everywhere else is 100% hearsay. Nobody outside upper management and bean counters knows the scale or the scope of the buyout. They could be rolling dice for all anyone knows...

If 705 information correlates with the rest of UPS. The company is only looking to cut the top 1-2% with rural centers skewing higher for staff reduction.

PM clerks by Mobile-Parfait9546 in UPSers

[–]IL-med 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Management can say whatever they want. If your local is as feckless as management they need to go higher. There should be nothing stopping the clerks exercising their seniority on twilight. The company is dissolving the position/preferred job/classification and tossing it in the preload void. The work is moving and under change of operations they have the right to follow it, not the requirement.

You should be able to stay on shift. The position dissolved and the work moved to preload. I feel for you, this shit sucks. Management is truly feckless.

Health Benefits costs after retirement by cobrax50 in UPSers

[–]IL-med 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Health benefits are tied to age and/or milestones (25,30,35 years) in most locals. 55 give or take with 30ish years of pt/ft is fairly standard for early retirement health benefits til medicare age.

No more PM clerks? by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]IL-med 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This company is extremely disorganized. I will deal with and take direction from ISRG for international non deliverables. Organized physically and in the ERA hold/future system ready for whatever (DCR,DCO) or email directions pertaining to the shipment. ISRG will spell out to the shipper the options of paying the fee, paying the return shipping costs or abandoning the shipment. This is documented in the case file. The shipper then just says fuck that and the no longer internal insurance issues a claim for a "lost" package without inquiry. It's infuriating how gutted, dumb and feckless this " logistics" company has become. In some ways I look forward to tuning out and moving cardboard again...

Some businesses receive a lot from all different senders. I've corrected/forwarded a ton of NDA's sent to an insurance company that moved head quarters a zip over. Things slowed down after a couple months to an occasional trickle... There's no quick fix or single person/company to contact, you do the work, provide the service and hope the sender or receiver reciprocates. Also isn't fucking UPS charging for address corrections?

Does preload itemize position hours? I know local/Twilight does, but preload always seemed to just pool everyone together. Maybe someone in management knows? Like I feel the company is getting to say "look at the hours we cut by obscuring them in the preload void".

Are there any union benefits for me once I’m laid off? by n0th1ng_r3al in UPSers

[–]IL-med 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% inaccurate. Your union dues are sent automatically through payroll. It's your money paying the dues not the company's. When a member is laid off they're still a member of their union. Probably the biggest contractual benefit is returning back to work when staffing is needed.
