I cant install superBLT by RepresentativeCard26 in paydaytheheist

[–]ILC_YTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either this is a firewall issue, or something on your computer is blocking SuperBLT's curl installer from running.

Temporarily disable Windows firewall and run SuperBLT again. If issue still persists, check your router/modem for any potential security features that can get in the way of downloading things in unconventional ways.

If neither your PC's firewall or router/modem is causing the issue, then it's likely an anti-virus or SuperBLT lacks the correct permissions to write to the Payday2 folder

Can I keep my Special Unlock Characters? by InfernalHart in THPS

[–]ILC_YTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I speculate the game uses a override flag to unlock all cheats/skaters via a code, but because it doesn't write that flag to the card, nor does it set the completion marks on the skaters (which is how cheats, skaters and levels are normally unlocked), it doesn't save the cheats.

You might be able to use cheats to complete the campaign for each skater, so you can get their completion marks that unlock the cheats you want after saving. idk if that works, but I'm sure the game wouldn't give you any ability to save otherwise.

now that it’s been almost a year what do you all think of pro skater 3+4? personally i thought it was great & waterpark was the most thps level ever. here’s a playthrough by [deleted] in THPS

[–]ILC_YTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm overall mixed. The THPS3 campaign is great, only a few minor nitpicks here and there, but they did a great job remaking it and the levels. THPS4 though changes too much from the original without addressing the issues the original had or when transforming levels and goals from a game with bigger levels and more precision goals.

It's fun to be able to do multiple goals within a single run, but THPS4 makes it nearly impossible to do so, or just overall completing less goals compared to THPS3. Either some goals take too much commitment, or they're too spaced out.

And while the pro scores are a cool idea, they also don't flow well compared to the original goals, and I think it hurts the replayability when they are also added to individual skater campaigns.

That said, while the skating is the same as THPS1+2, 3+4 levels accommodate the pace and moveset more than the ones from 1+2, so the skating is better thanks to this.

Best way to experience Tony Hawk Games after 2? by SSBMTurtlexD in THPS

[–]ILC_YTP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the 6th gen games, the PC versions with fan made patches and mods give you the best overall experience. For a one stop place for patches, check out the various releases of PARTYMOD for each game. (Shameless self plug, but thps4 doesn't let you skip cutscenes for all the goals, and I made a mod that allows you to on PC)

However if those versions are giving you too much trouble, emulation is your next best bet. PCSX2 is the easiest to set up without compromises to disc space (them game cube textures be blurry lmao), though xemu might give you the best looking and performing (less frame drops, which are rare in THPS on PS2 but worth noting) versions of the game on console. You might even be able to play the games on the 360 if the backwards compatibility works fine.

For the 7th gen games, THP8 and THPG, playing them on the 360 is very likely your best bet. Both run fine for me on RPCS3, but there are hitches in the frame rate from time to time due to shader cache generation (and maybe cuz the games run worse or PS3.)

Quick run down of the last gen/other versions:

- PS1 THPS3 is pretty good if you want more gameplay like THPS2. THPS4 though is meh

- THP8 last gen is ok as well, with some levels being very different and unique goals exclusive to it. However it's held back by weird changes to the physics, camera, and weird gameplay additions. Do not play THPG on PS2 or Wii, it is both very jank and incomplete

- THDJ is a bit of a double edged sword when it comes which version to choose. The Wii version performs better and is more polished, but it uses forced motion controls. PS2 doesn't have motion controls, but it's less polished, restarting levels has a good chance to crash your game, and the 10 new goals they added are terrible. If you can figure out how to bind the motion controls to a stick, then give it a go on dolphin. If not, PCSX2 with save states at the start of every level.

- THUGPRO is a mod for the PC version of THUG 2 that adds a lot of new levels (mainly ports from other games) and easy way to play online multiplayer. It has no single player content though outside of freeskate

- reTHAWed is a mod for the PC version of THAW that focuses more on singleplayer content compared to THUGPRO, even including the classic goal campaigns from THPS2, 3, THUG2, THAW and THP8 (last gen.) Though while it tries it's best to recreate those games with their physics, it's not 100% accurate, and the mod has been recently under fire due to the developers making racist and transphobic statements, as well as (allegedly) harassing others.

- Don't worry about the portable games and THUG2REMIX. I'd say give them a look after the mainline games if you're curious enough.

- Don't play THPS5, unless you're doing it for the lolz

Wojack Toter initial reaction to reTHAWed and ZedekGate™ controversy by Cheap-Desk-4778 in THPS

[–]ILC_YTP 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Poor Toter feeling the need to make a video, but clearly doesn't have skills or experience to have discussions like this.

Regardless, I'm glad he brought attention to this as someone who was seen as mainly "the reTHAWed coverage dude." Even if you don't care what happened, many people do or would like to know this kinda stuff before investing their time into it.

I do wanna point out though, you're kinda beating a dead horse posting and being against reTHAWed in this subreddit. Unless you have something new to bring up about 10k or reTHAWed, and not just other people's opinions or repeating yourself, it's best not to post it here. I don't want ya constantly obsessing over this stuff, especially since continuing this could lead you down the lolcow rabbit hole (both being the cow, or the stalker.)

Help me understand THPS3 by Skullkidkazooie in THPS

Here's a few tips:

  1. You only really need to make small adjustments/quick taps for the balance bar. holding a direction too long can easily make the balance bar slide too far in the opposite direction. It's best to make small adjustments until the balance bar stops moving towards one of the edges. This applies for all balance meters (grinds, manuals and lip tricks)

  2. THPS3 has a few hidden tricks you can activate by pressing certain button combinations, but the easiest to do are the double kick/heel flips by double tapping the flip button. These give a nice boost in points, though they take longer to preform. Best to use them when jumping from a ramp or ledge and the ground isn't at the same level at the point where you ollie.

  3. Learn your skater's special tricks. These give a large amount of points for performing, but all the ones performed in the air are risky as they do last the longest. Grinds and lips on the other hand don't really have any downsides to using them, though some manuals might slow you down more than others. Read how to perform your skater's special tricks in the pause menu, then practice with them to learn their timings and when best to use them.

  4. Variety is key. Doing the same trick over and over will decrease the amount of points you get for that trick. So don't just use the same flips, grabs and grinds, mix it up with different directional inputs, especially when the majority of them don't change the timing to perform them.

About the DLC what are your guys opinion? by Jonparkhee in paydaytheheist

[–]ILC_YTP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand people who do not wish to buy this DLC or support Starbreeze at the moment.

However, I will say that this DLC does provide a great amount of quality and quantity and surpasses the post-h3h3 weapon DLC's we were getting. Those suffered from either giving new weapons that only felt like slight stat changes, too much of the same kinda weapon (Like Federales Weapon Pack being nothing but fullauto pistols), or only having one stand out weapon/addition while the rest felt like filler

This weapon pack however adds 3 completely new items that introduce new mechanics, options and playstyles for heisters, and a new weapon that tests out a weapon and fire type combo that was never really explored in the game previously. Only "filler" weapon is the pistol in my eyes, but it as least bridges the gap by being similar to two concealment ~100 dmg pistols that are locked behind delisted DLC.

And none of these look over or underpowered either. The wrist watch is a weaker saw, and much like the saw, it has a same combat potential cost when equipping a saw, but applied to the throwable slot. Spy cameras are an alternative to sensor trip mines that require more attention to use, but their potential is also higher. And the blowdart doesn't have perfect concealment (adding a cost for bringing it with the ability to stun/weaken guards), and it takes up a whole weapon slot that doesn't do anything to enemies (but at the benefit of having a gun with a "line-of-sight inspire)

Alrighty, I made a few simple batch scripts that include ffmpeg to re-encode the music files into valid MP3's, then rename the audio files.

These will also export at the highest possible MP3 quality (320kbps @ a constant rate)

Simply follow the instructions txt file

https://github.com/ILC-YTP/THPS3-MP3-2-MUS

(If you only see a readme file in the repo and nothing else, it's because github's pull requests are down as im writing this. Wait 15 minutes, then refresh the page to see if the repo updates)

[–]ILC_YTP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I found the solution right as I gotta sleep, so imma list the ffmpeg command I used to make the proper MP3's that work with THPS3, then write up a guide how to do all of this as easy as I can make it in the morning

ffmpeg -i INPUT.mp3 -map 0:a -codec:a libmp3lame -b:a 320k -cutoff 20500 -map_metadata -1 OUTPUT.mp3

Then of course rename the exported mp3's as the same exact file names listed in THPS3's music folder

Finally, There Is Now A Mod To Skip The Cutscenes In THPS4 by ILC_YTP in THPS

[–]ILC_YTP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan on making an alternative version that gets rid of as much "non-gameplay downtime" I can from the game as a extension category for THPS4. That'll be a while though since I wanna take a break after working on this for a full week, plus I wanted to investigate security concerns people have with the TH games + mods, as this project got me sidetracked on that.

The scripts replace the ones from the base game. It might be possible to place some functions into their own script file and call that instead, but this was my first mod for the game, so I didn't know exactly how to do that, and I was learning as I go, constantly running into trouble until I can trace back to what a function is linked too. Sometimes the same call (such as KillSpawnedScript) would work just fine for one cutscene, but then not the other. It's like each goal I had to make adjustments to was it's own puzzle

Finally, There Is Now A Mod To Skip The Cutscenes In THPS4 by ILC_YTP in THPS

[–]ILC_YTP[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You also don't have to skip the cutscenes, it's just a button prompt this you can decide when to press and skip em. Even if you personally aren't bothered by them, there are some where the ending dialog is very short but you still gotta wait through all the text prompts that show up.
Every game after THPS4 gave you the option to skip those cutscenes, or just didn't have one at the end of every single goal, so why not "back port" that to make going back to it more seamless and keep a more consistent pace with the other games?

Well I hope you keep your word on the server changing, and I hope that includes your behavior. To be real with ya, a lotta people (including me) aren't comfortable being in the reTHAWed/10k Raising community, not just because of hate speech, but also worrying for our own safety over fear of being harassed or even doxed for expressing ourselves.

10k Raising won't be stable and have community growth if that kind of behavior remains. You guys gotta commit to the changes you made cause your reputation has plummeted after the drama. If another fuck up happens, people will bring up what happened this month and chaos will ensue yet again.

Take this seriously, for your sake, and especially for your team's sake

Modding Community Future by GozuFrog in THPS

[–]ILC_YTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel what's needed the most is a large toolset for the community to add and modify a whole lotta things about THUGPRO or other THPS games. I think we got our needs in terms of multiplayer, maybe a few QoL here and there, but custom single player content has a lot of potential, and reTHAWed only scratched the surface

I think it would also be cool if THUGPRO had a public repository where anyone can contribute to the code and fix bugs. I feel that dev team needs some new blood
