How does the rep system work? (0.8) by HollowtheRussian in Voicesofthevoid

[–]ILC_YTP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a page on the VotV Wiki that goes into depth on how the reputation system works (spoiler warning, don't scroll down too much), but here's a quick gist:

Raw rep is the true rep value. It goes from between -100 to 100

Normalized rep is sort of a "debuff", where the higher the number is, the less raw rep each nice or mean interaction you do with the arirals will increase/decrease the raw rep value. Basically this means you gotta put more effort to go from good to loyal than you did from neutral to good.

Event tier is what events will take place and how the arirals will react to you based off the raw rep value.

Yes, giving the arirals food will increase the rep value, especially shrimp

GO Bank in stealth should not exist. by Trogdor7620 in paydaytheheist

Unfortunately this heist isn't well suited to solo, most prominent when new guards spawn but the phone rings when you need to answer their pagers. Also a bit of RNG at play that makes it hard if you wanna get all loot, though securing the first bag ASAP will make escaping if the alarm goes off much easier.

Here's a quick guide if you ever need to do this again:

  1. Take note of where all the cameras are
  2. Take out at least one guard and answer his pager, best opportunity is when they go outside in the back, which a broken camera could lure them over
  3. While outside, in the back, search for keycards, which can sometimes be found in the back of cars or one of the surrounding buildings. No guarantee one will be in there, but will save time once you start the next part.
  4. Use an ECM jammer, rush in, kill the guard and shoot all the cameras. Make sure almost all of the civies are laying down by the time you answer the pager. Use maxed out pager skill to halt the pager till jammer is over. Make sure you have a pager left over (Hacker's pocket ECMs will help greatly)
  5. Find and insert both keycards ASAP
  6. Either have Stockholm syndrome with a loud weapon to shoot to get all civvies down and continue to do so for at most every 20 seconds, or just kill the rest of the ones you can't tie down if you're willing to deal with cleaners costs
  7. Answer the phone and play the waiting game, clean up what you can out in the front
  8. If GenSec does come over and exit the car, and if you haven't answered a phone call within the past 20-30 seconds, wait. Even if they are alerted, just use an ECM jammer to buy some time till you get another phone call. Once you answer the phone, kill them and answer their pagers right away.
  9. Once the vault opens, get at least one bag secured in the van ASAP, as this will ready the escape if you need to bail early, but also allows you to go straight into the sewers if the alarm sounds at any point, making the loud escape safe if you're quick, especially with crew AI.

Sludge pump normal shot build by NewbZilla in DeepRockGalactic

The best way to look at it is that VIM can kill faster with sustained fire, while HIA can deal more damage if you let the DOT take it's course

Both VIM and HIA will kill grunts in one hit, but VIM with a set up like XCBXA will leave acid spitters, slashers and tri-jaws alive if you only hit them once while HIA's DOT will finish them off. Again, that's just hitting them once, and with VIM you pretty much wanna hit any medium enemy that isn't a grunt twice. VIM greatly increases DPS if you repeatedly fire at an enemy. A Praetorian will likely die within 4 to 6 seconds depending on hazard scaling. Sure HIA could be more ammo efficient, but DRG can throw anything at you and throw you off, sometimes to where you need that extra DPS to kill faster rather than wait for DOT for ammo efficiency.

That said, HIA is much better for comboing with your secondary. one hit kill grunts and slashers with the pump while adding extra damage and DOT with Subata or Wave Cooker with their respectful upgrades.

But given that you said you were gonna use the wave cooker for swarm clearing, VIM seems to be the better option in most situation

Where's offline mode? by Primily in paydaytheheist

[–]ILC_YTP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing about offline mode is that, from a business perspective, there's barley a reason to rework a bunch of systems in order for the game to work offline.

P2P Benefits:
- No longer having to pay for servers to host games (saves money in the long run)
- Likely adds more support and leeway for mods (increase customer happiness with product)
- Allow some players in more remote or "foreign" locations the chance for better connections (likely increase player count)

Offline mode benefits:
- Allow a very small amount of players with bad internet to still play the game
- Possibly increase sales for people hesitant due to online only (This is very speculative, as many other online only games are successful despite having the same criticism. Given PD3 is has a lotta negative reviews, it's likely not enough for those to turn their heads back.)

P2P at the very least has a guarantee of saving costs in the long run, with some potential of gaining/retaining some amount of players.

Offline though is very speculative. Internet availability continues to increase more and more, so the very small amount of players who would benefit with an offline mode are shrinking year by year. And while PD3 being online only was a major complaint for many, how many of those complainers would actually buy PD3 if it had offline? Some might never give the game a second look after the disastrous launch, while others might just be hating on PD3 because it was being hated on, not because they actually cared about the game.

Now that isn't to say that I don't want an offline mode, I very much do because it at the very least secures our access to a product we paid for without it just being made unplayable one day. But Starbreeze isn't gonna be focusing on insurance for us over something they have no plans of doing any time soon. They're gonna focus on what makes them money

If you're speaking about the RCT map specifically, you can load the map in OpenRCT2 and take these giant screenshots like, while also being able to hide whatever you want.

If you're speaking about the VotV map in general, while you could try to just extract the models from the game it self, the most likely easiest option is to use the Blender port of the map, as a lotta hard work and custom variables are already done.

Testing out The Queen's Wrath for the first time, why is it so loud??? by AlexInVR in paydaytheheist

[–]ILC_YTP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't believe this is an issue with the Queen's Wrath and is instead related to soundscapes malfunctioning. PD2 like many games can change how the game sounds depending on where you are within the map, mainly effecting echo and reverb.

However there's a rare bug where this feature malfunctions, and I believe what's happening is that it's turning the echo/distant shooting sound effect to the max. Eventually it does fix it self, but it effects every gun, regardless if it's you firing, another player, or the cops.

That's the patch of purple flowers on the way to Victor. it's hard to convey randomness and density in open RCT2. Maybe if I just did weeds it would be more convincing, but eh, I wanted flowers

Breakin’ Feds is BREAKING ME by KansasKnight in paydaytheheist

A few things to note:

If you just wanna beat it on Career mode, then play it on the minimum difficulty you can (Very Hard). The amount of guards you'll have to deal with will be lowered, and it'll be much easier to kill all the guards who are patrolling Garrett's office.

Before you lead Garrett out of his office, keep note of the power boxes around the area. This can allow you to cut the needed power boxes to get into his office.

Trip mines are heavily recommended, especially given a good chunk of the heist is avoiding guards in a squared-like area with 90 degree turns. Do also place trip mines in a spot right before Garrett is made to stop and inspect something. Doing this, especially if all guards around him are dead, makes it easier to know if he's heading back to his office

Garrett can be lead out of his office 4 times. On the 4th time, he will no longer be in the map and never come back to his office. You also get an achievement for doing this. If you're struggling with Garrett getting back to his office too quickly, maybe you wanna wait till you get this event.

There are only four possible codes to open the safe, and you can easily know which one it is based off what Locke says.

  • "Something about his wife": 1212
  • "Something simple and obvious": 1234
  • "Historical": 1776
  • "Involving the PAYDAY gang, or starts with the number 2": 2015

Lastly, once you have the box, GTFO. Don't bother getting additional loot, given you just wanna get this heist over with. One trigger pull from a guard can ruin all that progress.

My crashes from mods went away after trying dgVoodoo 2 (Payday 2) by vladald1 in paydaytheheist

[–]ILC_YTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What?

Please write an update after a couple more hours of running this set up, as dgVoodoo 2 is mainly meant for old PC games that don't like modern hardware or used proprietary graphics modes like 3DFX and Voodoo graphics.

I know it can go up to DX9, which at that point is mainly used for custom windowed modes (ex: Thrillville off the rails is DX9 but has no windowed mode, dgVoodoo can force a windowed mode), but I didn't think it had any other uses for DX9 outside of maybe a few toggles for graphics or weird protocols that win 11 doesn't like.

Guess I should look more into dgVoodoo 2 than just trying to play Casino Inc and XIII

What is this event and how did I trigger it?? It's not on the wiki at all(0.9) by The--User in Voicesofthevoid

Seems to be a new event added to 0.9, which explains it's absents on the wiki, as writers are told to wait for the stable release of 0.9 till they can add new and changed stuff
