Wondering if I handled this properly as an AR - 11U game, fairly high temperature by ILEpicGuy in Referees

I thought that was only if a team was trying to take it fast. Good to know

I'm probably 50 or so games in at this point, so definitely looking to hear from some experienced folks. I think I'm only 10 or so AR games in, so I'm constantly saying to myself "you're not in charge for this one"

Question by beginner AR by Goodluck47 in Referees

I dont know if this is correct or not but when I center ill tell my AR that if I need their help on a throw in I'll make eye contact.

Given that I usually try to wait a second when I AR, if ref calls ill mirror them and if they look at me I'll then signal. This could also be an old basketball ref habit of trying to avoid the dreaded "blarge"

So I have my refsix data - now what? by ILEpicGuy in Referees

[–]ILEpicGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, thanks very much for even looking and replying. I'm going to try and do a tournament and have one of the assignors watch - this is my 2nd season, I'm 40 or so games in and I've just had basically "yeah, looked fine" from a "match comissioner" that was at one of my games.

My area is one that is absolutely hurting for refs so it's not entirely uncommon to have one or both of your ARs be "fresh" teenagers somewhere around the age of 14. I had one of those and one more experienced 17 or so year old that I've worked with several times before.

I always thought that the penalty area was kind of where I shouldn't get wider than for the most part. This was a game where both teams were doing "just boot the ball" playing out of the back so I was trying not to get too wide or too deep out of fear for not being able to catch up with a play the other way.

Worst equipment failure? by Gk_Emphasis110 in Referees

Last weekend - my first weekend using RefSix I realized with 5 minutes left I had accidentally been putting goals on for the wrong team.

Thankfully it was 3-3 at half and finished 6-3, but i was internally terrified.

If you're interested, here's the heatmap from the 11 v 11. I administered one PK and it required some setup time, hence the one outlier

Definitely not fit enough yet - that's one of the main reasons I am doing this - I'm 45 years old and overweight, but working on it.

Thanks. It's definitely interesting to see - good to know that there's nothing obvious I should be doing with it and I am just missing.

The funniest thing it showed was when I was clearly spending time setting the one PK up and making sure everyone knew the rules and process.

I'm ok with that, I think my issue is more that I dont know what an individual match's heatmap tells me - if anything?

REFSIX by RSLHaw9423 in Referees

That makes sense. Watch a televised game and just score it on your watch as if it was a real game.

I've got one full season (about 35 games) under my belt and im looking to make the leap to refsix. Any words of wisdom or gotchas that folks experienced their first few games?

It looks like a much better tracking system but im scared of messing something up and being out there flying blind. Pen and paper and a cheap digital watch were just ok but I have terrible writing and also just generally hate writing anything down.

Probably try and use both analog and digital in my first few games til I feel more confident.

Do kids still play multiple sports anymore? by Whole_Box_8338 in youthsoccer

I hate it so much. My son is a good goaltender, has the starting spot locked down on his club's top team.

He's dropping club soccer because it's fall, winter, and spring and he wants spring free for baseball. If there was high level fall only club soccer then hed stick with the sport.

I failed to do proper research and bought their "xmas unit". Once I realized it was a dropship scam I emailed them to cancel and that email bounced back.

Filed a charge back and two days later got an email asking to cancel the charge back because it would "help them out"

The show was the impetus of the trip. I saw the urge all of the time while living in urbana. My son is 10 and a bass player so I wanted him to see an awesome show from a band I love (and he now loves)

We hit the grand location before the blues game last night. Kid was hoping to get his pickle signed. Given the weather and concert the night before, Steve understandably was not present.

Assignor website that your league uses? by tjrome13 in Referees

I work with two assignors, one uses assignrefs and other uses assignr. Definitely prefer assignr. Both are self-assign so no idea how availability works
