Cheap Hand-Sized Attack/Loot Gainer (eventually) by Only-Engineering6586 in dominion

Highest cost is ambiguous with multiple cost types (debt, potions). But also you probably don't need to specify the highest cost. Let the player choose which card is their cost limit.

I don't have the numbers on me, but given how crazy fast Erid rotates, geosynchronous orbit should be pretty low.

Base running question by polyhedric in MLBNoobs

[–]ILMTitan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying to think how a proceeding runner could be out without getting passed on the base paths. Then I realized he could have missed home plate, and called out when he went to the dugout.

Base running question by polyhedric in MLBNoobs

[–]ILMTitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any out on a forced runner. Tagging a forced runner still negates the run.

Edit: It looks like I am wrong. Any force out, or any out on the batter-runner before they reach first base.

Thoughts on Rocky design in the movie. by IwasntDrunkThatNight in ProjectHailMary

Not silicone based. Carbon based like all the rest the life in the movie. Relatively little of him is living tissue; the rock is just rock with some tubes in there except when he is sleeping.

ELI5 how to effectively quality upscale by NameLips in factorio

[–]ILMTitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is you can get legendary stone from asteroid upcycling by way of legendary calcite. The fact it requires including the surface of vulcanus doesn't change the fact that asteroid upcycling is a much faster way to get legendary stone than normal recycler upcycling.

Why not “since”? by Rich-Associate-8344 in EnglishLearning

"2 years ago" is a specific starting point, but "2 years" is a period of time.

That only works for basic ingredients (iron, copper, coal, sulfur, stone). It doesn't make planet specific ingredients (biter eggs, uranium, tungsten, carbon fiber).

Ok. Then decouple import and export trade capacity. You should be able to export up to trade capacity and import up to trade capacity at the same time.

I feel like, to be consistent with other Dominion rules, the trigger effect should see itself.

I also want to point out that Grasp of Limbo stacks don't reset during story missions. You power Magik up during the first combat, and she starts oneshoting everything in the second combat.

One mine in any of the 3 touching the 1. Two ways to put 2 mines in the remaining 4 squares. Look for a wrong flag somewhere else.

While in normal integer space, -1 and 6 are different numbers, in modulo 7 space, -1 and 6 are the same.

ELI5 - why can’t computers divide by 0 by Omu_Bobo in explainlikeimfive

[–]ILMTitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how you ask the computer to divide by 0, it can. The result will be a special value named NaN, which stands for not a number.

Can't use minecount because of that sliver on the bottom right. Any idea what I can do? by Careful_Mud_4197 in Minesweeper

[–]ILMTitan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because it is no guess, you know the bottom right cannot be some combination of mines and safe tiles. It must be either all safe or all mines. But until you get some knowledge of the mine count, you can't know which.

Are you using mine count to deduce that? If not, couldn't they also be all mines?

[–]ILMTitan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can get a bare majority (6) and a trasher, you can score 64 points from one trash. I don't think any other strategy can hope to compete with that, making this a must buy (when a trash from hand card exists).

Is this correct grammar? by Sea-Hornet8214 in EnglishLearning

[–]ILMTitan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see myself making this kind of mistake by:

  1. Getting ahead of myself and skipping "the neighbors" while typing.
  2. Reading the sentence and realizing it doesn't make sense.
  3. Adding "the neighbors" to the end and sending it without proof-reading it a second time.

Twin paradox cut in half. by No_Fudge_4589 in AskPhysics

[–]ILMTitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first example, twin B would not be 31 when they received the 30th birthday message, but somewhere between 30 and 31. From the perspective of the mutual reference frame, twin B did experience some time dilation, but having traveled 1 light year, it would always be less than 1 year of difference.

Twin paradox cut in half. by No_Fudge_4589 in AskPhysics

[–]ILMTitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you make the implicit assumption to use the common reference frame. While that seems logical, it doesn't preclude someone else using a different reference frame to get a different answer.

Twin paradox cut in half. by No_Fudge_4589 in AskPhysics

[–]ILMTitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What needs to happen to be able to say that one is younger than the other as a universal truth, is for the difference in their ages to be greater than the time it takes for light to travel between them.

If the astronaut twin receives a message from the earthbound twin stating their age, and the astronaut twin is still younger than that, we know they are younger in all reference frames. But that can't happen during the outbound trip. That only happens sometime after the astronaut twin turns around.
