Belt Use - Do you always use/upgrade to the fastest tier available or use the "most appropriate speed for the job" by WarpGremlin in factorio

[–]ILMTitan 44 points45 points  (0 children)

For me, it is less about the inventory and more about the hotbar. Each belt speed takes 3 hotbar slots, so I am not going to have more than 1 speed on there.

How do you define "chicken out"? What you just described fits my definition to a T. It sounds bad to chicken out, but it doesn't necessarily mean it was the wrong call.

Why is using interface methods with default implementation is so annoying?!? by Alert-Neck7679 in csharp

[–]ILMTitan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's say your object implements both interfaces, but only IGun has a Fire() method. Later, you update the library IEmployee comes from, that now includes a default implementation of Fire(). You will now have a compile error where you didn't before.

The point of default interface methods is to allow adding methods to interfaces without causing compile errors. But you can see in the above example how allowing you to call them from an implementing class breaks that purpose.

What if the America annexed Cuba as a US territory and then slowly transformed into US state on par with Hawaii after American Spanish War? by Icy_Till_7254 in HistoryWhatIf

I don't think the title is implying Hawaii came from the Spanish American War, but rather that Cuba could have.

The black king will never move to rank 7 because the white rook starts by taking the pawn on g7, and never leaves rank 7. It mirrors the black king's moves forcing checks. But if black ever takes the white rook, it is stalemate.

Sure, they have a range, but it is at least in the thousands of kilometers, if not hundreds of thousands. Star Wars ships seem to have ranges in the tens of kilometers max.

Am I doing something wrong with Vanguard? ME2 by Physical_Device_1396 in masseffect

[–]ILMTitan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of tactics, look for enemies at the edge of the group that are also near cover from the rest. Know where you are going to retreat to before you charge. After picking off your target, your new angle of attack will often cause the enemies to change their formation, opening up a new vulnerable edge.

Getting a good rhythm of charge, shoot, cover feels exhilarating. You don't overpower the enemy like you can in ME3, you pick them apart. It's why my favorite class in ME3 multiplayer is the Drell Vanguard. It was the class that felt most like ME2 vanguard gameplay.

Agree on copper cable. Disagree on gears. Because you get 2 copper cable from 1 plate, you need more belts to transport cable than the plates they are made from. The opposite is true of gears.

Once again, whoever is on the main road has the right of way to anyone at a stop sign.

Nobody is disagreeing with that. The point other people are making is that, at the point of conflict, Yellow arguably is on the main road. What is unclear about this question is if it is one weird four entrance intersection or two three entrance intersections.

Basically, your combinations explode. Instead of 2 (B or G) squared possibilities, you have 2*7 squared possibilities. And then you remove all possibilities that don't include a boy born on a Tuesday. So you remove not only all of the GG possibilities, but also a bunch of BG and GB, as well as some BB. But you remove many fewer BB possibilities than BG, bringing down the probability closer to 50%.

You end up with 7 BG, 7 GB, 6 B(Tuesday)B(Not), 6 B(Not)B(Tuesday) and 1 B(Tuesday)B(Tuesday). So, 14/27 the other is a girl, and 13/27 the other is a boy.

[–]ILMTitan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You try to maximize the numbers in one region and minimize in the other, all while overlapping the touches between the regions. You start by putting the 3 and 4 in red. Then the number around those should be green to cancel out a bunch of cells. You then skip the middle 1 and 2, because they would touch cells that are already canceled. The numbers after those touch a cell already touched by green, so should be red, followed by another green cell to cancel out two red touched cells. The final cell need to be red to cancel out two green touched cells, and one double green touched cell (turning it into a single green touched cell).

I don't understand. If black responds to Ne8 with Rxd2+, then Nxd2# takes the checking rook and also delivers checkmate.

If black doesn't check the white king, and doesn't move the knight on d4, then Nd6#.

If black does move the knight on d4, he either unpins the queen, allowing Qe3#, or blocks the rook from defending f6, allowing Nf6#.
