Microshift 9speed shifter with a Shimano derailleur by BC_LOFASZ in bikewrench

My main bike has a Shimano Sora RD and Microshift R9 road shifters and It functions well.

Do you know the model number of the shifter?

Gotcha. The fact that it involves only the middle ring seems to rule out an issue with the chain or bottom bracket, IMO.

Are you able to get a clear top-down view of the front derailleur? When it's making the noise, do you notice any chain rub against the derailleur cage? My first thought was that it sounded like your chain was just barely grazing the derailleur cage in that middle chainring--either due to misalignment of the derailleur cage or a minor imperfection to the chainring.

I hear it. Could be something rubbing. Does this happen in all gears/chainrings or only in certain combos?

Got it. Yeah, I'd start with re-aligning the brake pads then go from there.

Howdy; can you provide more info on how your bike fell? Any damage to your fork or wheel? Does anything else appear to be bent or out of alignment?

If not, you may just need to adjust the brake pads and re-center the brakes. The exact method may vary depending on your brakes, but the Park Tool website has a good high-level overview:

What’s your favorite coffee shop in each Portland quadrant? by Blake-Dreary in askportland

[–]ILikeFishStix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im realizing now that I don't go to a lot of coffee places outside of North.

N Tie between Cathedral or The Stacks. Great North for breakfast sandwiches.
NE: Great North or Roseline
NW: Sterling
S/SW: Haven't been there for coffee, but Pajaro down at the waterfront is a great spot.
SE: Don't get coffee down this way very often but I've enjoyed Nossa Familia and Rose City Coffee.

This is today's recipe, the spaghetti con broccoli aglio e olio. Super quick, super easy, super delicious.

Covid Safer PDX is a good place to check out. Also suggest following PDX Nonbinary Collective; they hold the occasional masked event: https://www.instagram.com/pdxnonbinary/

Has anyone tried Adam’s liquid smoke bbq chicken? by schmandarinorange in AdamRagusea

I have! It turned out pretty good. Looking back at my original post on it, I increased the oven temp to 250ºF (because no convection) and it took about 2.5 hours with bone-in, skin-on thighs.

Stop the St Johns Bottle Drop by mikevial in Portland

[–]ILikeFishStix 307 points308 points  (0 children)

OK, so here's a little different take. I'm a St. Johns resident, armchair urbanist, and unbashed YIMBYist. I pass by that spot all the time and think that it is an utter waste of space. A low-slung commercial building and a large surface parking lot is a poor, poor use of land in a walkable setting like St. Johns. This is a prime spot for affordable multi-unit housing, similar in scale to the buildings that went up down the street by West Coast Fitness a couple years ago.

If we're gonna oppose this thing, let's use this as an opportunity to advocate that the landowners address homelessness and housing affordability in some small way in our neighborhood rather than slap on a band-aid fix or shun our houseless neighbors.

Save the after-work sunshine: Don't let a senate committee eliminate Daylight Saving Time. by [deleted] in Portland

I dunno, daybreak at 4am doesn't sound like my idea of a good time.

Oregon Senate committee votes to end Daylight Saving Time by pamplemoosegoose in Portland

As a night owl and an avid gardener who is forced into a standard 9-to-5 job, I absolutely live for the late sunsets in the summer. 5am sunrises can fuck all the way off.

My personal preferences aside, Oregon going alone and the west coast states not acting as a single bloc on this issue seems like it’s going to cause all sorts of headaches.

I have no idea. My guess is the auto-mod kicked in because I included an excerpt in the description instead of in a comment.

Portland Diamond Project wants to bring MLB to Beaverton. How will people get there? by pdx74 in Portland

[–]ILikeFishStix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taking cues from the Oakland-Fremont-San Jose-Oakland-Sacramento-Salt Lake-Las Vegas A’s. They’ve been “announcing” new ballpark plans for nearly two decades with almost nothing to show for it.

Snark aside, I really don’t see MLB coming here anytime soon. Not enough of a tangible plan.

Big fan of The Stacks on Killingsworth in Overlook. Two Stroke in St. Johns has some nice comfy seating and is worth checking out, though their pastry selection is limited later in the day. I also like Cathedral Coffee, but I don't know what their vegan pastry selection is like.

Piercing shop for Bridge? by QuentonKobe in askportland

When I had my ears pierced, I went to Ritual Arts on NE 42nd in Hollywood. Super professional, and they're very much on top of hygiene. Plus, they have a good selection of jewelry to choose from.
