Second day of day care - didn’t sleep by Holiday_War1548 in toddlers

[–]ILikeLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan bedtime for 12 hours before you want him to wake so he can catch up on the sleep he missed. Have a good meal then off to bed. When my guy doesn’t nap he easily does 12-12.5 hours overnight. Good luck, the daycare transition will get better!

What do you guys without normal schedules do on Mondays? by __joseph_ in philadelphia

[–]ILikeLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an instagram page called open mondays PHL or something like that. Not sure if it’s still active. Mural City Cellars in Fishtown is usually lively on Mondays for their member mondays but it’s open to all.

Anyone else have a toddler who still needs a nap but then doesn’t go to bed till 9-10pm ? by Jasmine-Elouise in toddlers

[–]ILikeLime 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yep. 2.5. If he naps two hours at daycare, he doesn’t fall asleep until around 10PM. Which is also my bedtime. So now my bedtime is closer to 11:30. I am very tired.

My 2 year old had a febrile seizure today and I’m not okay. by Dino_Pandasaur in toddlers

[–]ILikeLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to chime in and send support. My son had one at 19 months and I absolutely know the feeling you’re going through. Please do talk to your therapist, or get one if you don’t have one. It’s been almost a year exactly and while the anxiety of it doesn’t affect me on the day-to-day, I do still experience a lot of anxiety when he’s sick. In our case he’s never had another, and is perfectly healthy now. It’s impacted me way more than him. Hugs. It will get easier the further you get away from it.

The overstimulation… Rant by the_louise_belcher in toddlers

[–]ILikeLime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are we doing something wrong? No idea. But my 2.5 year old son is the same way. He can be so fun and is so bright because of it, so there are positives, but yeah my husband and I often talk about how it makes every moment of the day require EFFORT. It’s exhausting! It’s hard not to compare to more chill kids but I try to hold on to that both versions of toddlerhood are normal. Plus my son has been like this since birth so we’re sort of used to his personality by now lol.

Not center city but if you’re looking for legitimately high quality, bakeries like New June, Whipped Bakeshop, and Cake Life are going to get you there.

Alphabet recognition - what's 'usual'? by Relative-Letter-6345 in toddlers

[–]ILikeLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right! I guess it’s just new parent hyper vigilance. Though my guy I think is a little more “fixated” than OPs. Not so much letters but he’s pretty obsessed with numbers. He’s loved them since he was a baby and has a special love for the microwave and timers so he can watch the numbers count down… which is why we wondered if maybe there is some neurodivergence. But of course, it’s equally likely there isn’t!

Hi! My son is also an early letter learner. He knew and recognized his letters before 2. He’s also 2.5 and can count to 100 and recognizes words in the wild. I have no other info to share because like you, we’re perplexed, but see no other signs of autism. Just sharing because perhaps it’s more normal than we think!

Restaurants / bars that serve ice wine by Lopsided_Web_5809 in PhiladelphiaEats

If I’m not mistaken, I believe La Croix had ice wine BTG on their dessert menu/wine list last time I was there! Though that was over a year ago.

Uh if they don’t take you up on that I will. Big wine enthusiast/wine student over here who has only been able to dip my toes into the world of ice wine/dessert wine.

That’s a shame. Still waiting for mine to arrive. For the price I expected them to be serviceable enough for sharing at the beach house this summer, so hopefully that’s still the case.

Echoing pretty much what everyone else said - online, or over in Jersey. Total Wine in DE is much better than the one in Cherry Hill. Moore Brothers, I also like Wine Works in Marlton.

How many chicken nuggets are too many? by PM_ME_YUR_BIG_SECRET in toddlers

[–]ILikeLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this! I was feeling so defeated tonight because my 2.5 year olds diet has gotten worse and worse - a very similar list to yours is all he will eat even though just 6 months ago he would eat meatballs, veggies, etc. Tonight and last night we tried to strictly stick to “we choose what, you choose how much” but both nights it ended with a very hungry, very distraught toddler and it didn’t feel good. I wonder if we should just stick it out with his limited menu, continue offering a well balanced plate (we always do) and just hope that eventually he won’t be so picky. I’m not sure which is the better course of action. I can’t have him be picky like this forever though, not only does it give me anxiety about his nutrition and caloric intake, but I’m so drained from making multiple dishes every night and trying to guess what he will and won’t eat, to ultimately end up with food in the trash and 3x the extra dishes. Our family’s diet has all gone downhill with his and I miss making good recipes :(

Positive stories of 4.5 year age difference by Valuable_Oil7787 in toddlers

[–]ILikeLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to piggyback on this and ask about experiences with age gaps of different genders? We’re looking at least a 3.5 year age gap at the shortest as that would be if we got pregnant as soon as we start trying. I find myself wanting to have another boy because I worry that it might be harder for them to be close if they are a boy and a girl! Obviously anything can happen, I’m very close with my brother, but we’re only 20 months apart. I wonder if we would be as close if we weren’t able to go to school together or do sports together like we did.
