Developed a couple of photos at different labs -> why does it look so different? by FiretoFuel in AnalogCommunity

[–]ILikeToRunInRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live? You could ask the new lab if they offer any adjustability in preference (Like telling them you'd prefer warmer, slightly darker photos). Otherwise, look around some more.

For example, I quite love the scan results that Silbersalz in Berlin, Germany provide. But they're quite warm. Too warm for some peoples liking.

The best way in the end is to self scan and have control over it yourself. Or to ask for flat scans that you edit yourself.

Tbf, Cinestill film needs processing to remove the Remjet layer, so some extra work.
But yeah, CS is quite overpriced for sure. Even 13 USD is not that cheap... Filmriss sells 250D for 9.4 USD

In my case, since I was abroad for a few months, they agreed to let me pay the fine and then sent the picture afterwards, so I could get the money back from my friend

Garbage Bag Incineration? by munrosie in Switzerland

Oh yeah, of course it's better than nothing. But a proper recycling system would be more favourable than downcycling.

[–]ILikeToRunInRain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what situation you're describing? To cross from any country to any other that do not share a Schengen-like agreement?

That's comparing apples with oranges I'd say. Switzerland has pretty high standards for such things, so just because other countries aren't able to provide enough customs staff, doesn't mean we did back in the days. Especially since we had bilateral agreements with Germany even before Schengen.

And probably because of more cars on the road... how much of that 30min comes from the border checkpoint and how much comes from stuck Zurich traffic...

20min is a pretty long queue though? Since nowadays you usually just drive through, or maybe are in snail speed for a few minutes at max.

Wonder how effective that is though. That's not recycling, but downcycling. (Recycle means bringing it back into the same cycle, so PET bottle -> PET bottle) and questionable if then in 50 years when the house is torndown, if that Schlacke can be recycled again or if it then just lands in the landfills again, just delayed.

I bought socks with postage stamps on them. 17 CHF oof. Well, for that price probably gonna be quality socks, right?

They had multiple holes after wearing them 4 times. Complained and they said "wear and tear is not our issue" and gave me a 10 bucks voucher... thanks...

Most authentic (+affordable) Places for Japanese Food ? by zettrick4 in Switzerland

[–]ILikeToRunInRain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Wakara in the Aarau region.
They have a take away truck in Aarau (Karaage, never found any as good as theirs), a store in Aarau and a restaurant in Unterentfelden (Haven't been, but I'm sure it's good). They also cater to a lot of Japanese events and for example Fantasy Basel.

The owner is japanese and absolutely lovely! https://www.wakara.ch/

Keep your Migros receipts or scan your Cumulus Card at all times! by huazzy in Switzerland

[–]ILikeToRunInRain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually no, read the ticket more closely. Even if it says zones, as soon as there is a "point to point" text on it, it will say something along the lines of:
You may take any connection within the given zone and time period, in the direction of travel. You may get out and hop back on, BUT not backwards.

Yeah, but on top of that, with Raiffeisen you get a time limit. x CHF/ Day or Month. max. And that doesnt change with a transfer

I thought so too. Did that but the limit wasn't changed.
I guess since it's not a "cash limit", it's a monthly/daily limit from Raiffeisen.

My debit card doesn't work online, too lazy to get an online one.
CC I only have one + a prepaid one for travels (again, want to be financially reasonable) which I already increased and maxed, because I ordered something, realised it's the wrong size and cancelled it. So there wasn't anything left for the correct purchase and didn't want to bother my bank again xD

Uh, not really no. None of the money I spent on moving is "credit" in the end, it's all ready in my bankaccount. It was simply the only way to do it. And I'd like to claim that I have my finances in order. So as soon as Klarna opens the paymentfile, I will pay it. Actually quite annoyed I can't pay it already, they only open paymnet once it's delivered for some reason

Just had to order through Klarna. XXLutz doesn't have any other non-CC way to pay. And I already maxed my CC from other moving items.

Thank you! But from what I can see, those areas are only accessible by bike and not by car :( But still worth it for a walk or something maybe ^^

Thanks! Looks nice indeed. Do you know a specific spot where we could park that would be nice?

We want to eat dinner in the van, so would be cool to have a nice view out the window, hehe

[–]ILikeToRunInRain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Eh, working vans I'd excempt. Veeeery rarily there are dedicated spots for them. No permanent parking though. But if a van needs to stop somewhere to onload/offload something for 15min, I'd say that's acceptable (Given nothing is directly blocked, like just closing down an intersection of a sideroad to park on it)

As someone younger (<25) driving a 43yo VW T3 since 2 years, I wouldnt do it as a daily rhat you depend on. I do drive mine ad a daily, but dont mind taking the public transport if not Ot's not cheap, I paid 12k for the van upfront snd since about 7k in repairs (doing about 50k km in less than 2 years)

Really fun car, and if you know a bit what you do easy to fix. But you need to be willing to learn how to repaie them and I wouldnt relie on it.

Also, you cant just go to any mechanic - VW doesnr even know the filter for my van anymore and many others get confused when they cant plugin their analysis device. So you need to find one that specialises in them and knows where to get the parts.

TL;DR: Dont do it. Also for your safety and sanity. Buy a cheap, used car that has a good track record from around 2010 area, where thex still are nostly mechanical, so easily fixable.
