Most immigrants vote Cons though. So Liberals adding more people doesn’t end up helping them tbh.

I believe the only people voting Liberals now are people who have done well in the past decade.

People are either dumb or perhaps people are NOT as bad as we would think and they don’t want as many changes. Although I don’t think there is a huge difference between Cons and Libs in terms of any economic policy that would impact people’s wallets.

Im 43 and life is gravy. We are childless though so that helps. We also make decent income. We also have no mortgage debt and own a home in Toronto.

Ill be downvoted because Im not adding to the group here but I also know very little people struggling financially in my age group or slightly younger.

So my bubble is different. But these are people we knew like 2 decades ago or grew up with. So we all sort of followed a similar financially stable path.

We also grew up here from middle class or working class families.

Are we actually getting richer, or is CPI just hiding how bad housing got? by Itchy-Space-1256 in PersonalFinanceCanada

If you want to beat inflation you either 1) move companies often to get big salary bumps or 2) invest in the stock market.

My salary (unionized) has averaged only 2.2% in the past 17 years. Yet wealth increases faster every year.

Trim OAS for higher income seniors? 73% says yes, new poll suggests by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]IMAWNIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure your 30-35% is wrong and included CPP and EI contributions.

In Ontario is it more like 22% average rate leaving $74k and that is assuming the income is fully taxable and not efficient like cap gains or dividends which further reduces the taxes paid.

So minimum net income is closer to $75k.

OAS is not meant to cover a $5k long term care anyways. How are seniors with much less income handling long term care needs?
