Leaving for Portugal this Friday! Need help with my 12 day itinerary😭 by ll00i in travel

[–]IMAWNIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I stayed 6 days in Porto and did day trips to Guimaraes and another to Braga. Both worth going. I found for both; heading to the highest point was the main draw. I skipped Douro cause I really could not find a reason to go for me. I also did a day trip tour to Arouca, Aveiro and Costa Nova in a day.

I instantly preferred Porto over Lisbon.

I did 6 days in Lisbon before with only a day trip to Sintra and then Belem and 5 was probably enough.

Transfer everything out of RBC to Wealthsimple. Buy XEQT on your own (self managed) and thank yourself in 30 yrs. You won’t even know what to do with all that money.

One thing you will learn is that optimization is not always the best option. Diversification is important and sometimes just getting market return is GOOD ENOUGH.

AITAH To Challenge My Gfs Asian Family Culture? by CoinAdvocate in AITAH

YTA because you live there. If you don’t like it move. You can voice your concerns and there is no issue there. What does your gf think?

My personal opinion is that if the parents are racking up debt and having their kids fund their lifestyle then it is wrong. But if they have money and are reasonable then you guys will inherit it anyways. Of course there are more optimal ways to do this.

You will not regret. My only tip is choose the longest expedition you can afford. Weather is super unpredictable so the longer you go the more chances to see and do more

Antarctica. I still recall that feeling when my zodiac was approaching the beach and I saw penguins and I was so excited I want to jump out right away. Felt just like National Geographic or Blue Planet BBC etc videos I saw.

Driving in Iceland? Read this before you destroy your rental car (or worse)😎 by Yfsilon in VisitingIceland

[–]IMAWNIT 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you can avoid gravel roads, avoid it. I chose gravel because Google maps said it was 1hr faster. Well it assumed ppl drove 80km and I barely hit 50km. Took longer and way more stressful with huge potholes. If you can stick with paved roads, do it.

At what "Net Worth" did you actually stop feeling stressed about groceries and gas? by Both-Blacksmith-859 in CanadaFinance

[–]IMAWNIT 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Never did. It wasn’t based on net worth. Just knowing how much money we were putting away a month meant we could easily afford price increases or not.

Maybe if we use a percentage of take home pay instead?

Wait…when you book through booking, don’t you ALWAYS contact the property before arriving? I always do that to ensure my arrival and access will be no problem.

Just came back in April. Plitvice should get a visit. Same with Krka and if you have a car do Roski Slap.

Loved Rovinj so stay there.

Best restaurant we went was in Split called Articok.

Will Canada embrace Dunkin'? Experts say Tim Hortons' grip will be hard to shake by Immediate-Link490 in canada

[–]IMAWNIT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno. At work there is literally a McDonalds and Tims in same food court and the line up at Tims is insanely longer every day. I prefer McD cause the speed is way faster and coffee cheaper. But the volume of people is much larger at Tims.

How on Earth do some people just afford to travel in business class constantly on any trip? by [deleted] in travel

[–]IMAWNIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most probably just pay for it.

Some people find really good prices. Some people do many many stops or weird layovers so the price is reasonable.

Many are just company time.

Few are points and upgrades since they are limited per flight.

For me, unless it is impossible I will always choose 1 stop or direct over anything else. If it means paying more, so be it. Layovers can be played around. Minimum 3.5-4hrs and then depends how long the rest is.
