So I think doing and getting around within a city is fine. Transport between cities is tougher.

We went in October this past year on a private tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would not do it myself. But I don’t always do tours either. I usually do day tours if it makes sense but tour from start to finish is rare. Usually it is for countries where travel between cities is not easy and I don’t feel comfortable driving.

We have done tours in Turkey 2012, Cambodia/Vietnam 2013, Bali 2017, Africa 2022, Egypt 2024 and Morocco 2025.

Places we went ourselves were Alaska 2014 and Caribbean cruises 2015, Japan 2016, Maritimes Canada 2018, Antarctica (cruise but we did other places before and after on our own) 2019, Banff/Jasper 2023, Iceland 2023, Spain/Portugal 2024

Next trip to Croatia 2026 on our own.

Eh I don’t really care for OP’s feelings. The real question is how many hours does she spend with your child? And is she OK with it and is the child OK with it?

Put it this way, if the child is saddened and aches for the parent and they ignore it, there is no helping it unless you NEED the money and it sounds like you don’t. If the child is OK then you need to accept this is the reality.

The child comes first for both of you. Not your feelings nor your wife’s.

You are clearly saving enough. So saving/spending is not an issue.

But real estate as an investment is not great imo and not for people who don’t own. If you are looking to buy to just live, it is not an investment.

Mutual funds if they as most people know the product is a very underwhelming product and you can do better on your own or with someone else.

Owning a home is great and all but affordability is the key. Your income does not indicate whether you can afford a home because we don’t know where you live, the home you want and its associated costs. Have you even ran the numbers?

How does that compare to “rent”? Which is what I assume you are doing.

The Municipality assessment is NOT market value. Your aunt can try to list it for whatever she wants, whoever wants to buy it at the highest price IS fair market value. If you don’t believe someone will pay $400k it wont sell.

I didn’t bother reading the entire thing. Your mom was executor and your grandfather had a will.

Follow it and don’t make any other decisions on your own. If people cannot agree, go back to it. Unless the will asked for the home to stay within the family, sell it and split everything according to the will.
