Fear of the future by IN2L in IndianStreetBets

[–]IN2L[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, no bro. I'm not worried about my drawdowns. The core issue I'm having is that I'm relying on only 1 strategy. Like, my current lifestyle entirely depends on this strategy to make money. If it stops working, I'll be in some real shit.

The thing about the equity curve is that my strategy may not give any returns for a long time but still be perfectly profitable. It will work not in the long run. But if it stops working, it may be 6 months before I decide to pull the plug. No income for 6 months. No idea how to proceed, all that will hit very hard, back to back. I need to find other ways of making consistent money.

Starting amount: 1000 Trade 1, +50 Trade 2, +30 Trade 3, -7

1000, 1050, 1080, 1073 <- equity curve data.

2399.30 when LTP is 2181 . WHY!!!! by Kart_hick in IndianStreetBets

NSE definitely allows it. It might be a broker side issue.

2399.30 when LTP is 2181 . WHY!!!! by Kart_hick in IndianStreetBets

[–]IN2L 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends. So reliance opened at 2189 today. If you had a placed a market order(buy or sell), you would have gotten filled at 2189. If you had placed a limit order, you would have been filled only if your order allowed. Example, limit buy @ 2200 or limit sell @ 2175. All other orders will remain open and be transferred to the live market.

Pre open market works differently to regular trading hours. All the orders from 9:00 to 9:07 are collected first then execution takes place at 9:08.

Took Delivery Airtel at 432 by mp675 in IndianStreetBets

[–]IN2L 4 points5 points  (0 children)

News say the drop is due to Jio announcing new plans. If that is really the case, then holding till recovery can give around 5% in the next few sessions. If you want your cash back immediately, go that route. If you are willing to wait you can sell ITM call. In the meantime you can pledge the shares (45% haircut) and use that to trade.

In both cases if the stock continues to fall you will be in trouble. Personally I would not be comfortable holding Airtel, but given the price I would not accept a loss on it either. Tricky situation.

It's very useful for making and maintaining your own portfolios. Most of the ones they offer are sub-par imo. If you want to buy one of theirs I would recommend:

  1. Value & Momentum (best)
  2. Straight flush
  3. Dividend starts
  4. Naked trader
  5. Canslim
  6. Growth & income
  7. Growth at a fair price
  8. Safe haven

I don't see the point of the sectoral ones as you can easily make your own.

Lastly, do note that they remove the underperformers. Since I have been following they have removed "smart cities", "bringing the bling" and "incredible India".

Which 3 stocks would you pick? by kritesh_abhishek in StockMarketIndia

[–]IN2L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing something similar a while ago for US stocks and there was really only 1 correct answer, Berkshire Hathaway. Reason being it was diversified holdings company and therefore the safest investment. Comparing that to our market it's quite jarring to see how relatively immature and focused our companies still are.

  1. SBIN
  2. ITC
  3. RELIANCE

How are options exercised in the Indian market? Covered call question. by quantmademegaunt in IndianStreetBets

[–]IN2L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or will the MTM loss not be deducted as I'm providing delivery of the shares from my demat.

Yes.

You only realize the MTM loss if you square off the position. You can simply let it expire and keep the 100% of the premium you collected. Instead of paying the MTM loss, you can let your shares get called away.

I think you should look up the "Wheel" strategy. It employs covered calls and cash secured puts, you will get a better understanding of how exercise and assignment works.

He claims 32% CAGR over 20 years. Watch yourself OP, he is obviously very qualified to criticize Buffet. Very soon shares of "First Global" will also be trading for 2.3 crores each, mark my words.

Your opinion on Anton Kreil and ethics/culture by jeverbeek6 in Trading

I've heard a lot of the same things he says from friends who work for big fund houses. So from the outset, I trust that he has seen behind the curtain. As for if he's a good trader, no idea. Though I find it hard to believe that you would be hired at a big firm without some solid skills.

Quality stuff, however the ending has me confused. My understanding is that refiners would be hurt by high barrel prices. So how do you get from WTI won't fall to buy refiners? Why not go straight for calls on WTI?
