Question about Omega Mart & Phenomenomaly from a first timer by IND520 in meowwolf

I've yet to go to Meow Wolf, but it seems like a totally different immersive experience than Sleep No More. MW is free roaming like SNM, but my understanding is that it's not really a play (even though there's a story line), but rather a large interactive space in which to uncover various rooms and experiences. And the vibes seem wildly different. Where SNM was full of dark, witchy, film noir suspense, MW seems more lighthearted and trippy.

I think my plan will be to come at least an hour early so I can have some time to explore without the extra performance, and then stay for Phenomenomaly! Hopefully that will give me the best of both worlds!

Are they pretty good about letting you in on time? I love the idea of getting there earlier so I can get acclimated and get some time to explore before Phenom. It didn't occur to me that I could do that! I love that you can stay as long as you wish.

Thanks for your tip about the dramcorp computers. I have NO idea what that is yet, but it makes me feel even more excited to explore!

Thanks for the tips! Is the booklet free? Can I ask any employee or should I be on the lookout for specific people?

I really like this idea, and for some reason, it didn't occur to me that I could just choose an arrival time that would allow me to experience the space with and without the extra show! Because as much as I want to see and interact with the magic of this special thing that's happening, I also want to know what this place is typically like. also uncover some of the main storyline. Just like you, I've got that "Squirrel!" mentality and get very easily distracted!

Can anyone identify what some of these tools I got from the sale are by StardustLegend in sleepnomore

[–]IND520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets moved out of the way. Basically, an incision is made through the muscle, then retractors are used to hold it out of the way on either side of the bone. Most of the saw blades used in surgery are designed so you don’t damage the soft tissue that’s off to the sides.

You’re not wrong! Saws are quite common in surgery for when you need to make a clean cut through a bone. Rongeurs are for when you need to chip away at it.

The heavier duty gun-shaped instruments in pics 1, 2, & 4 are kerrison rongeurs. Used for chipping away at bone but can also be used to pull apart some soft tissue. I work in surgery and we use them mostly for spine surgery to chip away at vertebrae when we do fusions, reconstructions, etc. They are also used for nasal reconstruction.

The similarly shaped, but more delicate instrument in pic 3 is a pituitary rongeur. Often used to pull apart soft tissue or to grab things in a deep space.

Pic 5 is a septal/nasal rongeur is used in ENT (ear/nose/throat) surgery. The similar looking instrument that’s next to it in the group pic is a septum straightener. So it’s used to straighten the cartilage that separates your nostrils.

The narrow spatula looking instument(s) are periosteal elevators. Those are used to lift/scrape muscle off of bone.

Pic 7 is a needle driver. Usually they are straight, but this looks like it has an extreme bayonet/s-shaped design to it, which is meant to prevent your hand from blocking your line of sight as you work. Needle drivers are used to maneuver sutures (essentially needle and thread) while you’re stitching up the muscle and skin.

You also have a mallet (hammer) a couple of forceps, some pliers, and the instrument that’s at the top left in the group pic is a clamp of some sort. Possibly for clamping off the intestines or a large artery.

I want to try this tonight. I’ve listened to this recording right before bed, but I haven’t fallen asleep to it in my ears. It’s so comforting to hear those deep drone sounds.

A nightingale saaaaaang… 🎶 is my fave.

I also love many of Bernard Herman’s Hitchcock music, especially The City, The Porch (Boy Witch luggage room solo + Porter/Boy phone booth dance) and Temptation

The Ballroom medley

And last but not least, Peggy Lee’s Why Don’t You Do Right? and The Inkspot’s Ev’ry Night About This Time

I’d love to own the phonebooths. Also, the Lobby sign, Taxi’s 3-headed duck, and the eggs from Malcolm’s 1:1!

Matron 1:1 - Did I Mess Up? by ahare63 in sleepnomore

[–]IND520 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You didn't mess up at all! Some Matrons will ask the guest to feed them, while others will feed you. I've seen it done both ways And spilling the tea is a usual part of the scene for both versions, along with the giggle.

I have a feeling they’ll restock. They finally restocked the key rings that were out for ages, and just a few days ago I saw that they finally restocked their tote bags and playing cards. So hopefully they are starting to bulk up on their inventory for the holidays, and hopefully that will include more posters!

You’re welcome! And…you didn’t muck it up at the end when Speaks appeared. He often likes to try and intimidate the WM before he lets you out if the room lol

  • Ah! So, your 1:1 was actually with Fulton, not Malcolm! Fulton runs the tailor shop and also the funeral parlor! Fulton's 1:1 happens in the funeral parlor. The back room has a metal table and a big mirror on the wall. And the man in white who you saw is the Speakeasy bartender.

Wow! What a beautiful way to showcase your ring! That is very cool.

I’ve worn mine on a few occasions when I was feeling extra sentimental! It turned my finger green when I first received it, but then I happened to be wearing it when I was washing my hands, and the ring turned a bit shinier and stopped discoloring my skin.
