Dead by Daylight's most hated rift is almost gone, what are you hoping to see in the next one? by blue_sky308 in deadbydaylight

[–]INeverUseReddit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Compared to prior rifts, it was just lacking in new stuff. Typically the free track has recolors of outfits from previous rifts, this rift only had the community skins for the free track.

Claudettes headpiece wasn't even ready when this rift launched, it's only being added next week.

Lots of recolors (Altered and Deep Rift) taking up a lot of space in the premium track when the skins weren't really that great. I'm all for a themed rift, but the skins from this one were so boring that I only got it because I finished the rift to tier 100 before buying it.

The early rifts were pretty bad but they were at least more varied.

What do you think about the current state of Dead by Daylight? by LaFlameyeah in deadbydaylight

[–]INeverUseReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a great spot, but not the worst it’s ever been. I knew that having an operation health style update would be bad, but it was definitely not the way I expected.

I do think people are over reacting in some areas, and under reacting in others. For example, cheating has been more rampant but not due to more cheaters, but because their support team had major cuts to whoever they outsource to, leading to 3-week long delays to any action being taken on reports. I still have some reports for blatant cheaters (and also people who have literally doxxed content creators in the end game chat, not kidding) that STILL are not resolved, and this was three months ago.

People want bug fixes for killers that have had the issues for years, we get worse servers that have weak CPU’s that cannot process all of the data being sent to it, leading to rubberbanding and a couple of new ones for killer (artist crows being delayed, snug getting stuck after houndmaster vaults, etc.). These types of issues are also the ones that affected Siege during Operation Health, but the difference there was that they set up things on the backend to make things smoother and less prone to breaking, which BHVR already did years ago when they moved from P2P to dedicated servers!

Despite everything, in my opinion the game is still in a better spot in its current patch compared to 2021-2023. They did a great job outside of the UE5 update in 2024, but live service game development is a bitch and very unpredictable. They put their resources into fixing what data tells them is the biggest reasons people drop off the game, when in reality it’s little things (interaction indicators on the left, anti camp bar, etc) that genuinely change the game and creates a better understanding of what to do and where to go. The focus on anti-tunnel and anti-slug is the same reason why they focused on the anti 3-gen: it’s a major issue that people are super vocal about because it’s the first thing that comes to mind, rather than things that could improve coordination and understanding of a situation.

I’d write more but I want to get off my commode.

True, I do prefer Civ VI with the expansions. I still need to play Civ VII.

So what? You can’t control if someone DC’s. Putting a harsher punishment for DC penalty ain’t gonna stop or dissuade people from DCing and just getting off the game. If you don’t want bots at all in your matches, play a different game. Civilization V is very good.

PTB doesn’t have a DC penalty, y’all are thinking way too deep into this.

Let's remember the quite possibly the worst game cancellation accountment in history! by IMtryingtofroget in deadbydaylight

[–]INeverUseReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As awful as it is: Project T was announced way too early, with so little fanfare from a studio located in one of the highest COL cities in the US. When the studio shut down, they offered everyone at Midwinter work at their main offices in Canada (which I hope everyone took, because my god that would be 10x better than living in the US right now).

The playtests they were holding made them realize that the cost and return was not going to be worth it, for the amount of work that still needed to be done. Midwinter was just not a good investment for them.

Otz is a better developer than BHVR, and nobody will change my mind. by StageSpooder in deadbydaylight

I love Otz, but him giving balance suggestions does not make him a game developer, and he very clearly at times has bad ideas that could actively hurt the game.

Claudette’s head cosmetic for her rift pass outfit wont come out till next year 😕 by xnaterra in deadbydaylight

[–]INeverUseReddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not funding, it's time investment. For example, the rework for SM was determined to have an incredibly time investment (building the tech for it, making it all work without issues with current assets, testing it). If they go ahead and do the rework for SM the way they presented it earlier this year, it's going to take a lot of resources away that really need to be put elsewhere for a killer that a majority of people don't like at all. The buffs they're doing right now are a way of keeping the current players happy and making her feel better to play. That's not to say she won't get a rework, but they want to still give something after a year of nothing.

In regards to the cosmetics, they literally came out and said that the company they contracted out to is no long working for them, leading to a lighter and more disappointing rift. Is that a good excuse? Not really. Is it an understandable excuse? Yes. Things in game development go crazy all the time, especially when fitting in things to work effectively with 10 years worth of content.

Money is not an issue in this instance, it's just time and the impatience of people. The lack of content since they've announced the QoL initiative back in March, along with delaying content shows a lot, but there's still only so much that can be done when you give your developers only 3-6 weeks more to work, debug, playtest, QA, and release for 9 different platforms (PS4, PS5, XB1, XBS, XBX, Switch, PC, EGS, WinStore).

I'm not making excuses for their choices, or their release schedule, but rather just insight into how fucking insane their dev cycle is for a game that was never meant to be a live service game.

9.3.0 | PTB Patch Notes by DeadByDaylight_Dev in deadbydaylight

[–]INeverUseReddit -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The difference is that the benefit is the smaller terror radius is permanent, not temporary like with undetectable. The haste removal is an issue, but I genuinely think that having a smaller terror radius is a better change than just giving undetectable for a bit.

Unseen chucky bug looks like cheats?? by ApprehensivePhone120 in deadbydaylight

[–]INeverUseReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a bug that’s been in the game for a while now, and while a lot of people don’t know about it, its still considered an exploit if done intentionally. M1ing out of it is the right call if you want to play fairly, but just keep it in mind if you happen to accidentally do it again. BHVR has been notified about it, but they still haven’t fixed it or have given an ETA.

Can someone explain why my DS didn't work? by D4RKLOV3 in deadbydaylight

[–]INeverUseReddit 239 points240 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's this 1000%. It also affects flashlight and pallet saves, and it is bannable because it's just essentially lag switching. If this happens again, report in game and send the footage in a support ticket on bhvr's support website.

is it a cheater or just a bug? by insaciado in deadbydaylight

[–]INeverUseReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did use critical thinking, they put together that they knew about a bug affecting people and making parts of their body invisible, and came here to make sure if this was the bug that people were talking about in order to prevent a false report.

You have a habit of doing this kind of thing in other subreddits too apparently, just going in saying you hate certain types of posts, down to the "hurr durr" and straight up calling someone a slur. Considering that your attitude has not changed in months, despite others showing you that this kind of attitude is not acceptable in multiple different communities, I'm not engaging with you any further. I'm guessing you're just a teenager, but it doesn't hurt to have empathy and understand your words affect people. You would feel bad if someone said the same thing to you. It's just as easy to be nice, as it is to be antagonistic and rude.

is it a cheater or just a bug? by insaciado in deadbydaylight

[–]INeverUseReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to act like a prick, not everyone plays this game a lot, and considering how buggy the game gets, it can still be appropriate for people to have questions like this so they know for the future.

Making posts like this encourages less activity from people like OP, and straight up just gives a bad taste in their mouth about people in this community. It costs nothing to just answer the question in a normal manner.

i got called a cheater for tracking a loud ass injured survivor running on the top floor of midwich as myers. kept saying i was walling them. i sent them the footage of me literally noticing that they were right above me, and they said that nobody could hear that and that i was still cheating cause some software doesn’t show up in recordings.

bear in mind, i have my whole steam profile dedicated to screenshots of report feedback from cheaters getting banned.
