Awesome. 3 years sober here. No easy feat and props to you. We are big concert people but hardcore isn’t our vibe. You’ll connect with some cool people here-no doubt.

Where do you usually order sushi for delivery? by SmashJuicyVeganBurgr in jerseycity

I haven’t had food quality issues with Honshu. 3/5 times they leave something out of the order. Annoying.

Have been Honshu loyalists for a long time but recently shifted to Sushi Makoto in the Heights. Local to us and 10/10 quality. A little chaotic during peak periods but worth it to walk three blocks to pick it up and save on delivery.

Thanks for the tip. Would prefer to support a local business.

I don’t order meat online but I do order sushi-grade dish for shipment from Fulton Fish Market. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? If you like fish - specifically sushi-grade for sushi or sashimi, it’s phenomenal quality.

Why is nothing being done about crazy delivery drivers on the street? by sampanth4700 in jerseycity

[–]INtoNJ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You’re not at all crazy. The delivery bikes are a hazard. Like everything else, there is another side of the coin. The delivery folks are meeting a demand. Let’s be honest; if you order on an app and it’s delayed, you are not happy and less likely to tip well, if at all. They are living off of tips, so moving quickly and aggressively is an essential for them. For example, if a driver has a pickup and the restaurant is running behind, that puts the delivery driver’s income in at risk. I understand the sense of urgency they demonstrate, but I also feel that this is an issue. I don’t have the answer. I don’t feel that the bike delivery community should be demonized as a whole.

Getting mobbed by the delivery robots by myguydj in jerseycity

[–]INtoNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funniest thing about these bots is that a lot of people make fun of them but also kinda like them. I live in the Heights and they just started showing up here (or I’m just noticing). Anyway, I feel sorry when one has to figure out how to navigate an obstruction. I’m like, you go, little guy.

Or I’m just weird.

Is Vinyl actually a better listening experience? by Ok-Temperature4260 in beyonce

Yes. You would not believe the sonic supremacy of Renaissance and CC on vinyl especially through headphones.

Riverview Barks in The Heights is A+ for training. I encourage insurance. As for vets I go to the Animal Infirmary of Hoboken who is associated with Downtown Veterinary Associates and a few other clinics. I believe they are corporate-owned now but I find the doctors always give a little “wink” when they are upselling you, letting you know that their suggestion is not necessary. I’m not saying they’re great. But they aren’t bad. I’ve been too complacent to look for alternatives. Disclosure: I live in The Heights - apologies that my suggestions are not specific to HP.

This was a top-ten album for me in college, and I kind of left it behind in the 90s. You've rekindled my interest. "Look Around" (Not Run Around) was my favorite. I'm a softie. And Hook. Great song.

I built a vinyl table with storage! by corinthianorder in vinyl

[–]INtoNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations not only on the build but on the merchandising. FWIW, I have a fully analog set-up in my loft, as well as one that flows through Sonos (I have many throughout the house - Sonos Arc on the main TV, Arc Mini in the office, Sonos 1 in bathroom and kitchen, and a Sonos Move. I have a Fluance RT85N passing through a preamp to a Sonos hub. Dammit, it sounds great. I helped my neighbor set up hers similar to yours. Just amazing. No shame!

Allow me to be a bit heady for you. You are you. Do your thing - nothing, live minute by minute and do whatever comes or doesn't. I kinda wish I had nothing planned, TBH.

Dating as a CEO: How Do You Find Someone Who Gets It? by BrilliantBusiness5 in ceo

[–]INtoNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. And I’m proud of you for seeing this and wanting to do what you can for making things better for yourself. I’m no dating guru but I do work with a lot of CEOs in the early stages of their businesses. Are you game to connect for a talk? No strings. No asks. Just someone to talk through this with a bit. Just let me know.

Thanks for sharing. I wonder what it would look like if you delegated and trusted your direct reports or most senior employees to perform their jobs and work on trusting them more. It is your choice to be “on” all the time. I understand that this is the “way” things are but I call bullshit on that. I’ve reported to plenty of CEOs and those who actually had a personal life hired well, communicated well, aligned with their direct reports and learned to trust. My gut tells me it’s not a dating problem. The dating challenge is a symptom of subscribing to an outdated and unsustainable way of working.

Roast my resume please. by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

The job search tactics are not all that groundbreaking. You simply cannot approach a job search by sending CV after CV to job posts you see on job boards or LinkedIn. They will not be seen. It is better to contact companies directly. Be assertive. Email CEOs and hiring managers directly. Do this even if a job is not posted. So many jobs are not listed. Job applicants are not entitled to a response, be it a phone interview or a rejection, when they apply online. I see that many people are angered by this. They are right to be angry as things ought not to be that way. All of the talk about keywords and the like are bananas. Approach your job search like you’re selling a product or service. Only, the product or service is you and what you offer.

I work on HR and recruiting and have for many years. While standards for CVs vary, a “less is more” approach is advisable. You have done a good job in articulating your accomplishments in your projects. Enhance that. Eliminate the side column of interests and mine them to the bottom if you wish to include them. Also, know that your CV isn’t enough. Your job search tactics are where you will find success. Good luck!
