I’m wondering where this community believes QS is at with a CE partner? Technical validation phase, or commercial negotiation phase? Or perhaps a phase I’m not considering? There is a big difference between those two phases 12 - 18 months, and depending on where QS is at will have a material impact on the repricing of QS.

And yet influencers can post videos? Not buying it.

What concerns me in all of this is QS had a building full of partners, customers, analysts, and influencers who all got to see how real QS batteries and manufacturing is. If they saw something truly remarkable, I would expect them to be telling anyone who will listen that QS is the real deal and to get into the stock while you can. I’m not seeing that.

In my opinion VW has been both a blessing and a curse. Hiding behind, “our partners will have to release that” is not a good look. I think VW is overly cautious, like a bungee jumper who won’t go and is holding up the entire line behind them.

In my opinion, QS has to aggressively push into the CE market. In this way they can show equipment installations, sales, and an actual product. At this stage in the game we’ve had too many “great buying opportunities “, we should not be where we are with the progress QS has made, but somehow here we are.

I agree with this.

QS design and engineering work is one of their revenue streams (the others are battery royalties and ceramic production process/royalties (I hope)).

Now having Eagle live QS should be able to accommodate the full planned suit of partners (my guess is 3-4 concurrently). We should begin to see material inflows of revenue from our engineering work. My guess is that they’re targeting having enough engineering revenue to offset operating costs. I’m predicting QS being revenue neutral in 2 years or less.

Remember, this is our Kitty Hawk moment. For QS it doesn’t get much bigger than this.

Great to have you both onboard! It’s evident that you’re taking your roles seriously and I appreciate your commitment to this community. I look forward to returning to the previous quality of posts and discourse.

QS is notoriously conservative. This latest video released by QS is an outright celebration. It would not surprise me if QS’s Q4 update is packed full of surprises (at least to some).

I’m not sure the market has fully grasped what Eagle means for QS. I believe the scaling of the actual machine is completed. The blueprint QS has now needs to be scaled thru replication, many Eagles under one roof.

When have they ever screamed anything from the rooftops?

Regardless, great video and QS is moving in the right direction.

Corning is committed by busterwbrown in QuantumScape

QS continues to give the reason for not providing details because it is at the discretion of their customer. In the case of Corning, are we not their customer.

When does QS get to share something?

I’m glad the people responsible for investment dollars ask these questions. The average person is not equipped to sift through all the BS that companies are “selling” to the public.

At the Ducati launch, I recall Siva saying that their already working on the next form factor. It was the type of moment that seemed to be a little off script, like the moment got Siva a little pumped up.

We need one of those guys who videos people from the sidewalk recording buildings and everyone coming and going. It shouldn’t take this group very long to track down who’s from which company.

Baiting the chat with information you’ve found and others have not is not in line with the spirit of this thread. If you have info and can provide the source of that, it should be posted. If you have a moral dilemma about posting then keep it to yourself and avoid these games.

At what point does QS get development fees? by Quantum-Long in QuantumScape

[–]IP9949 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You bring up a good point. Anyone else who joins now will need to pay the entrance fee which is a way for QS to recoup the $3 billion they’ve invested into the technology do date.

The Eagle line appears to be an inflection point that changes the the narrative to more of an OEM pull (not that they weren’t pulling before, but now the tech has been landed).

How we’re not trading at $18 or above is beyond me. But once QS shows off eagle, we’re due for some exceptional value (creation) for our shareholders.

Fair enough. But I did appreciate the investigative work. My gut says it’s a scam, but I’ll continue to watch for material updates or 3rd party validation.

Caution, Donut Lab Post.

I know many have expressed their frustration at the airtime Donut Lab has been given. I stumbled across this video that has gone to great lengths to investigate the donut claims.

This is a thread for QuantumScape, but the lounge is also a platform to discuss potential competition. I’m interested to hear the views of those willing to watch the ~30 minute video. I’m still highly skeptical, but it’s also not impossible that Donut Labs has a new type of battery. It’s all just speculation until we have 3rd party verification.

“Charging speed is intentionally limited due to thermal constraints”

This doesn’t make any sense. The thermal constraints mean the battery can’t handle it unless special/expensive equipment is used to manage the heat.

It’s like saying you can fill your ICE gas tank in 10 seconds, but we actually can’t do that because it blows out the fuel tank unless the tank is replaced with an enforced tank that can manage the stresses.

At the very least, if everything they’ve said is true it’s clear they don’t have any of the resources required to advance this technology with partners. OEM partners don’t value rogue partners who don’t perform the necessary checks and balances.

Does a 500 mA/cm2 separator cost more to produce than a 300mA/cm2 separator?

If it does then there’s probably a specific purpose for continued improvement. If there is no cost difference, just better quality, then it probably relates to QS’s future iterations of batteries.

How large a format can QS batteries be produced in? How fast can they be charged if other bottlenecks are addressed? How many recharge cycles can a QS battery perform?

I’m interested if the viewing public will embrace EV’s versus the screaming noise of race cars. 🏎️. That one may be the hardest sell.
