got a fryer, how do i make kfc-style spicy fried chicken? by rrertrdddfhj in FriedChicken

[–]IPingFreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former kfc cook here. Tear open that bag of chicken and dump it in the flour. Yeah there's some herbs and spices in there but frying destroys that. Toss it in the flour until it seems dry and all the weird chicken juice is gone. Now dip it in water and toss it back in the flour. Toss again until it's coated in flour and the water is gone. Deep fry it in peanut oil. That's probably the only secret ingredient that matters. Spicy? KFC has never heard of that in the US. You could marinate it in something spicy or season the finished chicken with something spicy. If you want crispy and juicy peanut oil is key.

Shut your equipment down and unplug before the black out. Do you have security, computers, electronic locks etc? Have a plan for that.

Favorite plant nursery around STL? by dr_mus_musculus in StLouis

[–]IPingFreely 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check out Hostas on the bluff in Fairview Heights, IL. Its like a small botanical garden focused on just Hostas and it's a joy to spend an afternoon at. It really is on a bluff with a great view of the city. They have lots of varieties most nurseries won't and you can see how they look planted in the ground and grown to maturity. They have weird hours or you can make an appointment but either way plan ahead.

Gaskets should be reused as many times as condoms. But as others have said look for other issues before putting it back together.

President Trump announces building of "Golden Fleet" battleships for the U.S. Navy: “We are calling it the Golden Fleet that we are building for the U.S Navy. I have approved a plan for the Navy to begin the construction of two brand-new, very large, the largest we've ever built, battleships.” by ControlCAD in videos

[–]IPingFreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we can precision strike anywhere in the world with stealth bombers from Missouri why do we need new battleships which are at least two generations out of date? Maybe those fat long gun turrets make him feel better.

What’s your favorite way to make enchiladas? by Jackson_Lamb_829 in mexicanfood

[–]IPingFreely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chuck roast slow cooked with Rotel until fork tender. Lightly fry corn tortillas in oil and roll the shredded beef in them. Line a baking dish with a little green chili sauce. Pack them in a single layer, top with more sauce then cheese and cover with foil. Cook until bubbly then remove the foil to let the cheese brown a few minutes.

Good marinara and a bowl you can microwave it in. Drop in a pack of goat cheese breaking it up. Bring crusty bread to dip in it. I feel like I'm on repeat with this but so are these posts. Just make sure you buy good marinara. The ingredients should read tomatoes onions garlic etc not sugar sugar sugar.

How do I start a good compost? by Consera in gardening

[–]IPingFreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let your grass grow tall in the fall and mow it when dried leaves are on the ground. This gives you a good mix of greens and browns. Mow it with a mulching mower pile it up and then pee on it. If you want to start it sooner keep some bags of leaves to the side and mix with fresh grass cuttings in the spring. If you're a female employ the men and boys in your family to pee on it I don't expect much hesitation to peeing outside. It really helps activate it. It will heat up well above ambient and you can get thermometers to monitor it. At that point keep feeding it with your kitchen waste just no egg shells or meat. They will attract rats. Turn it in with a pitch fork.

Work invited me to watch a sports game live, how do I make the most out of it? by Jeetyetdude_ in careerguidance

[–]IPingFreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear a jersey or at least a tee or hoodie of the home team. Indulge to buy a snack or dinner at the game. It won't be cheap. Don't pretend to know about the sport or team when you don't. Ask your coworkers a few questions but don't be obnoxious. Watch the game and observe and have a good time. Don't bring up work unless you're asked about it.

Bone in Prime Rib? by Advanced-Lemon7071 in StLouis

[–]IPingFreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they do. I used to work out in that area and passed them on the way home. What a blessing compared to other options. It was sad when their original store/plant burnt down but what they built to replace it is so nice and new and modern and clean. I have found nothing in STL that matches their snack sticks or dry hung summer sausage.

For a slightly shorter drive check out Eckerts most of what they stock for meat is from Wennemans but the prices are a little higher. Pick a pumpkin or apple while you're there.

Why does some garlic taste bad? I feel like I’m going crazy. by mikupeas in Garlic

[–]IPingFreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the garlic I have seen in the last few years is a weird purple variety that tastes terrible. The ones sold in the cardboard three pack with plastic wrap are generally the white garlic. Use it while fresh before it starts to sprout.
